I'm ten days post-IPL, and here's my report: Generally I have really good skin without a lot of wrinkles. I'm 44 and did my fair share of 'roasting' when I was younger (baby oil, sun etc.). While I've been lucky that I didn't get brown patches or wrinkles as a result, I DID develop quite a lot of broken blood vessels across my nose, cheeks and chest and a few small ones on my forehead. After a lot of research, I decided to give IPL a try. I opted not to have 'full face' but rather to have her focus on the specific areas where the vessels were. She started with my chest. It stung a bit, but was totally tolerable. Then she moved to my cheese and forehead. The forehead zaps were barely noticeable. The cheeks were quite a bit more sensitive. Not to scare you girls, but the nose, in the corners by the nostrils, VERY painful. The good news is that the pain only lasts for seconds, so if you can get through the zaps, you're in the clear. I found that having her just to them all in rapid success rather than space them out, was the best way to just get through it. When the procedure was done, my face was quite red for about an hour. My chest was red but with raised areas that seemed to have whitish dots in the middle of the bumps. By the time I got home, my facial redness was gone, but looked more like white bumps, almost like large hives. Not to worry, all of this was expected. Because of the swelling and what I now call 'blanching' in those white areas, I wasn't really able to see any results for a few days, until the lumps went down. Once they did, I noticed that some of the vessels on my face were gone, some appeared lighter, and some actually appeared darker. The ones on my chest seemed darker and more proliferous. I was a little nervous that I'd need additional treatments. I experienced a LOT of facial swelling over the next five days with a very bad headache. This is also normal and expected if you do your reading. By that time, the chest lumps had gone away and left behind some red veins and also some really dark brown little specs. I decided to check in with my provider, and she said not to worry, sometimes it can take up to a full month for the full results to become evidence. I believe that was at the day five mark. So now I'm at the day ten mark and I have to say - my skin looks beautiful. I didn't even have the fullface treatment, but even areas that weren't touched seem to be nice and tight and smooth. And except for some very faint traces on one cheek and nose, the vessels have faded almost to obscurity. The checks vessels have cleared considerable! There are still a few brown ones but I understand that these will be reabsorbed by the body in the next few weeks. I'm very happy with this procedure and I would and will do it again if new vessels appear. My post-procedure advice is to following my daily regimen, which I believe has contributed to how wonderful my skin looks now: 1. morning and night, layer a vitamin C based serum onto areas with vessels, then when the C serum has absorbed, follow with a vitamin K cream. 2. take 2000mg of vitamin C orally, and 2000mg of L-Lysene orally each day. Treat your skin with kindness in the first week post-treatment - no harsh scrubs. Just gentle cleansing. And of course sunscreen on the effected areas. I love my skin now - it has NEVER looked better, and I'm turning 45 in two days and for once, I feel like I look like I'm getting younger, not olde!
