10 months post-op- still dealing with hypertrophic scarring on BB

I am a 39 year old mom of 3 beautiful girls. I have been unhappy with my belly for as long as I can remember. I have been for 4 consultations in the past 3 years and I have decided this is the year I am going to do it! I will find out my surgery date on Thursday...

So I went back and my surgery is scheduled for April 24th. I started a little 6 week countdown (46 days to be exact) with a little jar filled with pebbles. 1 day closer to my goal!! I will update as I go. I plan to try to lose a few more lbs and tone up over the next 46 days so i am in tip top shape for the procedure. Talk soon!!

Things are moving along! Got my pre-op paperwork in the mail yesterday! Medical clearance appointment scheduled for April 2 and pre-op appointment scheduled for April 10. Exactly 6 weeks from today my pooch will be gone!!

I added 2 new pics. One is the side view which gives a better pic of why I want to do this. The second one is a little countdown for myself- for each day that passes until my surgery, I put a marble in the jar. When the first jar is empty, it will be surgery day!

So my surgery is officially 4 weeks from today and the time is going quicker than I anticipated! I have my pre-op labs and EKG this Friday, my medical clearance on Monday 4/2 and my pre-op with my PS on 4/9. I have alot of things to get done before the surgery- school field trips, Easter, prepping and cleaning my house- so I am sure the time will fly by! I can't stop thinking about it!!

Time is going quickly now! When I booked 7 weeks out I thought it was such a long time! I am just under 3 weeks from the big day my medical clearance and labs are done, and I have my pre-op with my PS this Monday. Good luck April ladies!!

Had my pre-op appointment yesterday, signed consents and got my prescriptions. My doctor doesn't recommend the arnica or the bromelain, and I will only have to wear a binder the first night post-op. 2 weeks from right now I will be recovering! It is going so quickly now. When I booked the date it seemed so far off, now it's 14 days out and I am getting really excited!

Surgery day is fast approaching- next Tuesday will be here before I know it! Getting everything in order and I can't believe I am actually doing this for myself! Still not sure what I am telling my daughters- anyone have and suggestions?

2 more days to go! Cannot believe how fast the past 7 weeks has gone. My surgeon was so booked up when I went for the consult, I had to wait 7 weeks. Now it is 2 days away!! I am beyond excited and for the first time a tiny bit nervous- but I guess that is completely normal. I will update again post TT!! Good luck to my fellow TT buddies this week!

Had my TT yesterday morning 8:30am. Stayed at a wellness facility last night and will go home later this evening (highly recommend staying if you can). Last night was a bit rough for me due to muscle spasms from the muscle tightening. They came on strong and were worse than labor contractions, made it hard to breathe at times. The nurses promptly got an order for Valium which has helped immensely. Saw my PS this am, said everything looks great, and generally the spasms last about 24 hours. I still have the tightening but nothing near what it was last night. I actually am finding the Valium helps the discomfort better than Percocet and Tylenol #3. Foley is out and I have no regrets!! I will put up post op pics as soon as I can

Feeling a little better today. Slept on my couch in the recliner last night for over 6 hours! Only bad thing was waking up in pain because not having pain meds in over 6 hours. Once I was up, took pain meds and 1/2 valium, felt much better and even showered. Moving around much better this afternoon. Tired and my appetite isn't great, but otherwist not too bad! For all you ladies considering it, I have no regrets!! I will post pics when I am able

Feeling alot better today! No as sore and not as hunched. I am posting some post op pics from today. Happy Healing to you all!

My dr uses a different technique to close the wound. It is raised for a bit as it it heals to keep tension off the suture line.

So went for my post op appt today 1 day early because I was concerned about a blood filled blister on my incision. My dr assured me not to worry, it is caused by tension and will resolve by itself over the next few days. He also took out the JP drains!! Numbed the areas, cut the sutures and it really didn't hurt as I have read some other people have said. Just a very weird sensation. The drains being out is very liberating!! I did do a little too much today because I was feeling good. Took only 1 tylenol#3 and plain Tylenol during the day. By this evening I was uncomfortable and took the Percocet. Note to self- take it easy! My husband has been amazing with helping with the kids. Still walking hunched, my abs feel very tight, almost like Braxton-Hicks contractions. I still have no regrets- can't wait until I feel good enough to go shopping for some new clothes!! I will post updated pics in the next day or 2- happy healing ladies!!!!!

So today is post op day #9- feeling pretty good but still taking it easy. No real pain anymore, really the muscle tightness in the upper abs is most uncomfortable for me. Called my PS yesterday because I was concerned because I haven't read many people complain about the upper ab discomfort- I was relieved to hear it is completely normal, and if really severe, my dr said he will order muscle relaxers. I decided to wait it out and see how it goes. Each day is getting easier, just listening to my body and resting as much as I can. Not completely myself just yet. Loving the results so far, even though there is still a lot of swelling, I am so glad I did this! I will post updated pics in the next day or 2.

Hi Ladies- just posting a few pics from shopping today. Didn't buy anything, but I am ecstatic about my new tummy!! Still pretty swollen, down 5lbs since surgery and feeling alot less tired and sore today. Happy healing!!

Can't believe I am almost 2 weeks post op already!...

Can't believe I am almost 2 weeks post op already! Feeling pretty good, the biggest problem is discomfort at my right lower rib cage where the muscle must attach. As the day wears on and I get more swollen, I have alot of discomfort in this area. The only thing I can compare it to is when you were pregnant and the baby would have their foot in that area. Uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced this? I have been using arnica gel, and it relieves the discomfort, but only for a short time. I was able to get out to my first post TT function yesterday, was a little disappointed I couldn't button my size 6 pants that I used to squeeze into. I know it is the swelling, and I keep telling myself not to worry. Was able to wear a very flattering dress that was comfortable. I have told everyone I hurt my back, and it has worked beautifully for me. My PS said heating pad is ok to use for the discomfort, but to be very careful because of numbness to watch for burns. I put it over my clothing to prevent that. Good luck to anyone who is this week- you will do just fine!! I will update and try to post more pics soon. It's amazing I am starting to see definition in my upper abs- a little bit more each day now- i will post pics soon. And I think all my stretch marks are gone! My kids were kind- only had stretch marks on my lower abdomen. Happy Healing :)

Hi ladies- so I am 17 days post op today. Feeling pretty good. I think I may have been doing a little too much, and it caught up to me yesterday. I was exhausted and I pulled a muscle :( I am doing better today, went to buy some shorts and was thrilled to fit into a size 4!! I also took my measurements- and I am happy to report I am down 6.5 lbs and 5inches in my waist since the week before my surgery! Truly amazing. I saw a good friend today for the first time since surgery- she was amazed and said "you are so flat you look like a cardboard cutout of yourself!" Felt really good. Hope you all are well

Today I am exactly 4 weeks post op and feeling fabulous! Just a little tightness in the abs, rib pain has gone away finally. Honestly the rib pain was the worst part of this for me. I can say this surgery was the best decision I have made for myself. I am posting new pics. Good luck to anyone considering this, I truly have no regrets!

Yesterday was 6 weeks post TT for me- can't believe it! I feel great and sneezing and coughing has gotten so much easier! Love my profile in clothes and in a bathing suit, now I am working on scar management with silicone. I will post new pics as soon as I can- happy healing everyone!!

I am 11 weeks post TT and I can't believe it! Time flies. Love the results, love the confidence it has given me and love being able to wear whatever I want! Having my post op pics taken next week, I will post new pics then. Happy healing!

Went for my 3 month post op today- pleased with everything, but I will need a revision of my belly button. I developed some hypertrophic scarring. It has been red and hard, redness is normal, keloids are not. Dr won't revise until at least 6 months post op. Believe me, it is not awful, but it is not perfect either. Dr wants me to be pleased with everything. Revision can be done in the office. I still have no regrets and am loving the results!! Posting some pics now

It's been a busy summer on the flat side! Still loving every minute of deciding to do this! I do need a minor belly button revision in about a month or 2 due to a keloid, but otherwise I am so glad I finally did it. I will post 4 month post op pics and scar pics asap. Happy healing!!

Loving my new tummy! I did develop some hypertrophic scarring around my belly button- it has gotten worse the past couple of weeks. Revision is tomorrow!! Dr says he will remove scar tissue and locally inject steroids to prevent hypertrophic scar from reforming. Can't wait to get rid of the ugly scar!!

So I am the 5 month post op point now- and all I...

So I am the 5 month post op point now- and all I can say is how glad I finally went through with this surgery! Wish I did it after my last child was born! Loving the results, had some scarring on BB which was revised 2 weeks ago and steroids were injected at that time. Dr said shouldn't happen again w steroid injection. The biggest hurdle for me now is not dressing like I have to hide the pooch! I need to do some shopping for winter clothes, and I find myself gravitating to things I would buy pre-TT to camouflage. There's nothing left to camouflage! Good luck and happy healing

Almost 9 months post op already and I couldn't be happier! Everyday I pinch myself to make sure it's real. I am still dealing with some scarring on my BB, but I have been getting steroid injections every 6 weeks and they are helping. I still feel it was totally worth the price and recovery. I will be turning 40 in less than 2 weeks and I am so glad I finally took the plunge and it is behind me! 40 and FAB not 40 and FLAB!

So I am over 10 months now, have had a revision of BB last Sept and have been getting kenalog injections to my scars every 4-6 weeks. My BB is looking like before revision :( I saw my PS last week, he recommended laser scar treatments. I am getting my first one on Thursday. I will post pics soon and update after laser treatment
