My expectation would be to have a non existent...

My expectation would be to have a non existent double chin, shaper jawline and appearance of elongated neckline.

The double chin that I have is hereditary and no matter how much weight is lost or gained the double chin remains. I am reminded of it every time I smile and take photos. .. UGHHHH SO ANNOYING!!

A recent consultation resulted in a direct incision under my chin to remove the "plus plup", that's what I call my double chin lol (gotta chuckle about it rather than cry).

Which would be the best option for me? This would be my first lipo ever but I need to ensure in am choosing the best option possible.

Please assist. Thanks in advance :-)

1 week to go... saying goodbye to my double chin

I would like to update my page, so here we go.

Around the 2nd week of September I had consulted with a PS, he was referred to me from a co-worker/friend and I must say I was pleased with his staff, office and the doctors patience in answering all of my questions... oh I had lots and lots of questions. I was nervous and excited at the same time, so much that my blood pressure results sky rocketed lol but I knew that it was my anxiety because I am totally healthy.

At the consultation visit I met with the nurse who checked my blood pressure, weight and asked a few questions concerning my overall health. I met with the doctor thereafter to explain exactly what I wanted and the doctor was friendly, patient and honest... he checked my face and skin to determine the best option for me. The doctor suggested Submental Lipo / Necklift, which consists of the following: A small incision will be placed in the crease of my chin in order to remove the fat, excess skin removed and sculpted. The goal is to create a more refined appearance to my chin/neck area and define jawline to bring a natural balance to my face.
I was so excited I left a deposit the very same day and scheduled my surgery for mid-October.

Notes: I can continue taking my multi-vitamins but I was advised to stop taking vitamin e, fish oil, drugs containing aspirin or ibuprofen and herbal medicine etc.

Waiting a few weeks for my surgery date felt like an eternity but now that I am a week away from OMG... I feel nervous, excited, regretful and overjoyed all in the same breath lol... how can this be? Hmmmm

I made it to my pre-op appointment, I didn't know what to expect but it went well. Mostly paperwork, what to do and not to do. I met with my doctor again and he went over the details of the surgery and I received my prescriptions that I will need (make certain to bring the day of surgery)

Notes: Drink a gallon of water the day before surgery, directly after surgery I will be placed into a double trap face compression garment, take prescribed meds as directed and avoid salty food before and after surgery to ensure swelling is minimal. For constipation Metamucil or Colace can be used as directed. Keep head elevated as much as possible (keep several pillows under head and shoulders or sleep in a comfy recliner)... this is a must for the first 3-4 days in hopes that you drain properly.
- I purchased a bed wedge and bed rest pillow (pillow are arm rest)

I hope this helps, even if its just one person :-)

I am so happy that this site exists because I have been learning so much from reading other reviews, so I feel like its only fair to share my story.

I will update my photos and keep you posted.

I'm under construction, new chin underway

Hi RealSelf Family,

I am ready to share with you the details of my surgery... here we go. My surgery was held on Wed. 10/14/15, preparing for surgery was krazy for me because the night prior to surgery I was in my head for hours, going through my notes, reading reviews on RealSelf and the next thing I knew it was time for my driver to pick me up, equals no sleep for me. I arrived to the facility about 6:15am... WHEW! THATS REALLY EARLY FOR ME! I was greeted by a nurse, she was really nice with a vibrant personality which made it easier for me to relax and get through all of the paperwork. The nurse checked my blood pressure and it was sky high (we realized it may have spiked because we were chatting and sharing stories lol), we waited a few minutes and checked my blood pressure again and it was normal. My Mom and cousin came with me so they were able to see me mget prepped and dressed into my surgery gear and IV. Thereafter, we discussed discharge paperwork and post op instructions and lastly we took pictures oh yeah. I will add a few pictures.
I
The last thing I remember was kissing my Mommie and telling her that I love her and being wheeled into surgery, there were a team of people all around and I remember two nurses standing at my bedside smiling at me and I asked, "is it countdown time" and the nurses said we don't actually countdown and smiled... directly after I said, "Its happening" lol lol I could feel myself drifting away.

I woke up from the anesthesia with an immediate urge to urinate, two nurses assisted me to the ladies room and I relieved myself and one of the nurses assisted me with my personal belongings and helped me get dressed. I was a bit woozy but I slid into the passenger side of the car and went back to sleep, came home and slept some more.

- I have to take an antibiotic every 6 hours
- Hydrocodone (pain pill every 4-6 hours
- Patch (wear on forearm for nausea)
- Pills for nausea (melts on tongue)

I am staying at my Moms house and she is taking care of me... what fun for her, I know my mom has her hands full because my sister just had a baby and she's staying over too... We are all back together again and that means more pampering for me. OH YEAH

My Post op appointment was today, Thursday 10-15-2015. Dr. Patel discussed the details of my surgery with me, checked my stitches and set another post op appointment date (2 weeks from now).

- Neck Lift w/ Submental Lipo: The doctor removed the fat from under my chin, tightened my platysma and performed lipo as well

How am I feeling at home? Hmmmm

I cant chew Ughhhh, I cant chew the hard stuff because my jaw is tight/numb a lil' of both. Thank God I planned on drinking protein shakes. I can barely open my mouth (my mother said that she was looking forward to that perk.... THE NERVE LOL LOL). I am eating mac n cheese that I purchased from Walgreen YEAHHHH it's so good.... It's taking me forever to finish this small little package.

Alright.... its medicine time... I will keep you posted.

BTW, Anyone taking Arnica? Tell me about it?
