Taking these suckers out!!
Four years ago, I decided to get breast implants. It was an idea that I had been tossing around since high school, and after having children, I decided to go for it. I had 457cc silicone, under the muscle with an areolar incision.
They healed alright, and for a while I was happy with them.
Until I wasn't.
I started having neck/shoulder/back pain ALL the time. My posture used to be SO good (seriously, random people would compliment me on it) and now I'm always slouching. Standing and sitting up straight require effort. The implant in my right breast, which was always bigger, seems to have moved out of the pocket a little bit underneath. Clothes don't fit right. Exercise sucks because they're so big and heavy, so I never exercise, and as a result I'm about 20lbs overweight.
So about a year and a half ago, I decided I wanted to remove the implants and not replace them.
I went on about 7 consultations before I found a doctor I liked (a lot of them had the mindset of 'there's no serious complications, just leave them!' or 'let's replace them with something smaller' which is not what I was interested in at all).
Yesterday I paid for the procedure, and today I went and had my bloodwork done. All that is left is to get a physical/medical risk assessment from a doctor, and to wait.
March 17th is the big day, and I'M ECSTATIC!! I cannot wait to wear clothes that fit me again, to not have constant pain, to have people look at my face when they first meet me instead of my chest, to be able to give good hugs again... to just be back to normal and be plastic free!!!

T-minus 6 days and counting!!

Tuesday is the big day!! I have everything ready to go, and the closer it gets the more excited I get. I've been waiting for what feels like forever to have my implants removed and it's almost time!!! Last week I went bra shopping for a few post surgery bras. I found a post-surgical compression bra on amazon that was well reviewed, and then I got 5 "high support" sports bras from Target. My doctor said I will be about the same size as I was prior to my implants, possibly a little bigger because of the weight gain, so I got everything in a medium size which should be about right.
As I wrote in my previous post, I'm not going under general anesthesia. My doctor is doing local anesthesia with a mild sedation. I'm don't know exactly what to expect, but he said I will be comfortable. I will definitely update as it gets closer. Good luck to all you ladies that are having explant surgery around the same time as me! I will be keeping you all in my thoughts for sure. And thank you to those of you that have taken the time to post here. It's really very encouraging to read experiences similar to mine from other people

UPDATED FROM PoppinFresh
almost time!

the day after tomorrow, I will be implant free! Every time I look in the mirror, I picture what my body will look like without these huge breasts, and it makes me happy. I can't wait to feel like a normal person again, without two huge embarrassing bags of silicone!!! I can't believe how excited I am about having small breasts again. I'll get to wear cute lacy bras, or those cami tank tops with the built in bra, and bathing suits that don't make me feel obscene.
My advice to anybody considering breast implants: do your homework. Spend so much time researching, and then spend even more time. Go on numerous consultations. Talk to women who have had implants. And go for a size that's smaller than you want. If my implants weren't this big, I'd definitely consider keeping them. However, at the time, the doctor told me "the number on cause for dissatisfaction is going too small. most women have a second surgery to go bigger" foolishly, i decided to just go big the first time to avoid a second surgery- HA HA HA, yeah right, that worked out so well.
I'll update again. I've got my post surgery supplies- sports bras, comfort food (jello, pudding, soup, etc), my laptop, a neck pillow (helped so much after the first surgery), and a pretty rad coloring book, because seriously who doesn't like to color.
T-Minus 38 hours and counting!!

You sound so excited that I am excited for you! I think having implants sounds really hard in so many ways (no pun intended) and I'm glad you have the opportunity to get them out. Thank you for sharing! The 17th is less than a month away!
