I have always hated my nose, i have a "hump" and i never wanted anyone to see me from the side view (although, i know that is impossible.) I believe i will be much more confident once i have this hump removed. I am acutally really surprised I'm going through with this.. I am terrified of needles, blood and cuts. I have a very weak stomache. 0_o I am getting married soon and i do not want to be worried about my nose when im walking down the isle, or if thats all people are noticing as i walk to my future husband. I want to feel pretty and confident which is why i am going through with this. The only thing that would stop me is if i cant get approved for CareCredit. I am praying, praying, praying that i do though. This would be a dream come true. :)

Thanks for sharing on RealSelf. I hope you are approved for Care Credit. Make sure your surgeons has done many rhinoplasties and can show you lots of before and after photos.

Please keep us posted throughout your process!

Hey! Good luck with your consult! My only suggestion would be to look for loan options from your bank or other institution. Carecredits interest rate is 22% or something crazy. I took a loan out with my bank and interest rate was only 4.9%... Just something to look into. You are beautiful by the way!

Oh wow! I'm sure I could get a much better interest rate through my bank. IF they will allow me to get a signature loan for this reason. Thank you because I wouldn't have realized that until the day of my consultation. & thank you! :)

So it's been a while since I posted but I had my consultation on Monday, and it went great! I am very happy with the surgeon I have chosen. I went today and got approved for my loan and I think I am the most excited I've ever been! I am going to call on Monday to schedule my pre-op appt. This is like a dream come true! I am so glad that I will have this done before my wedding so that when my big day gets here I can relax and feel beautiful! :) ill keep y'all posted!

So I had my pre-op on Tuesday! I got an answer to all my questions and I'm very confident that my surgeon will do a fantastic job! I can't believe I'm actually doing this! I've always said (jokingly) that one day I would get a nose job but never actually thought it would even be a possibility, much less a reality! I am a little nervous about going under the knife, I've never had surgery or even broken a bone. I've had a minor scrape here and there but never anything major so I am very anxious/nervous. If anyone has any advice of things I should buy before the surgery please share with me. I got some arnica from my surgeon. Anything else that will help the swelling go down quicker?

Good luck tomorrow lady!! Can't wait to hear how are you feeling post-op. I'm sure everything will be smooth sailing!! :)

Two more days mama!!!!!! I'm so so so so excited for you!!! My girlfriend is a dental assistant and brought a ton of samples of this dry mouth oral rinse called Biotene. I haven't had a chance to research it yet to see if you can get it otc or if you can only get it at a dental office. They give it to patients who have dental surgeries. If you get a chance tomorrow to call your dentist's office and see if they have a sample of it to give you. I'm going to post info on it under my profile as soon as I research it. I figure its another tool for us. Talk soon!

Ahhh!! I'm getting nervous!! Haha! I am so stinkin excited though! We took engagement photos today and it just made me appreciate this surgery so much more lol! Can't wait to have a new and improved nose! :) Only 3 days for you!!! :D it is such a great/happy feeling! I will definitely ask about the Biotene. My aunt is a dental assistant so ill ask her, maybe she can hook me up;) lol

Well, this is it. I am a nervous wreck. As much as I hate needles, blood and surgery, I can't believe I'm actually doing this!!! Lol I've never had surgery, stitches or a broken bone but all of that is going to change in a few hours. O_o I am excited for my new nose but I am definitely ready to get the surgery part out of the way. I have my wonderful & handsome fiancé here with me the whole way and although I know he's so tired of hearing me talk about the surgery and my new nose, he supports me and that's all I could ask for. I will let y'all know how it goes as soon as I'm feeling up to posting. Lots of prayers would be greatly appreciated. I know the man upstairs will be with me the whole way through surgery. :)

The procedure went very smoothly. Absolutely no pain, still not in any kind of pain. No headache, no sore throat. I do have some bruising under my eyes already, which is to be expected. I have to say, I think I got pretty lucky. Dr said he took out a spur of cartilage (not sure what that is) in my nasal passage that was probably unknowingly causing some breathing problems. He said i should notice a huge difference in my breathing! I am thrilled with my surgeon. He was amazing. Now to relax and enjoy the week off from working & stress. :) so far, this has been absolutely worth every penny!!! Can't wait to see my results.

Soo It is 3:20am and I am wide awake so I figured I would go ahead and give you guys an update. I am feeling much more stuffy today than I was yesterday. I could actually breath through my nose yesterday but I can't this morning. I was feeling 100% painless until around 6pm yesterday, the nausea set in and I couldn't keep anything down. Not a happy feeling. But my wonderful fiancé and father both nursed me back to health and I am feeling wonderful again. It is amazing how little pain I am feeling. The only thing was a few times I woke myself up snoring last night (don't make fun, it's hard sleeping with your mouth open lol) and I was afraid that might so some damage to my nose. I am probably just over analyzing it but I'm a woman so of course that's what i do best haha! :) There is very little bruising compared to what i was expecting and not a whole lot of swelling, although I'm sure that will change over the next few days. I have also had trouble with the pain meds I was prescribed (hydrocodone) I am not a fan of these meds. They make me feel weak and itchy, also a little "drunk" so I've only been taking a half of one every 6-8 hours. Anyways, this is getting a little on the longer side so ill update again later. Thanks again to everyone for all the kind words and support! It means more than you know! :)

Trying to get plenty of rest but its definitely hard. It's making my throat sore breathing through my mouth but ill get used to it. Thank you:)
Thank you very much! I am so excited to see the final result but I know it's going to require a lot of patience lol!

Well today I finally was able to take off my drip pad. Thank goodness cause that thing was driving me crazy!! I could hardly eat anything with it on. I am feeling a little more like myself today but I am not used to being cooped up inside doing nothing all day. I think I'm going a little stir crazy and it's only day 2. I keep reminding myself that the end result will be worth it all. :) I have been alternating ibuprofen and the hydrocodone they prescribed me because believe it or not, the ibuprofen is working a lot better than the hydrocodone. I still can't breathe out of my nose and my face is definitely swollen. It looks shiny because its so swollen lol! I keep getting itches under my cast and it is not comfortable! But on the plus side, my black eyes are almost gone! :) I need some suggestions on good tv shows or movies to watch on Netflix. So far I've been watching a lot of duck dynasty and that show makes me laugh(it hurts to laugh) lol! Anyways, ill update again a little later. I hope all of this made sense. The pain meds have me a little loopy. :)

I LOVE DUCK DYNASTY!!!!!! It makes me happy, happy, happy!! And you really don't look THAT swollen..you look good!! Itches mean healing so that's a good sign. I have been cooped up for 3months with this leg ...see why I just went ahead and got this over with too? My face will be healed and done and I still won't be walking:(. It's all good though ..I'm alive and although it's full of scars..I still have my right leg. Think about me when you get stir crazy..it does suck but Internet...EBAY and other dangerous items around the house (pay per view) will keep you busy my friend:). ..kisses from Florida

Duck dynasty is mine and my fiancés favorite show! It's hard to watch though because it keeps makin me laugh lol! I have spent a LOT of time on eBay! Very dangerous! Hahaha! My fiancé is going to kill me but I'm already waiting on a few packages to come in :) lol! I hope your recovery goes smoothly and you are back to normal real soon. Sorry to hear about your leg :( I am praying for your recovery!
Hope you are feeling good! I am excited to see your results, your nose is similar to mine!! I am happy for you and you are going to look AMAZING on your special day! Congrats!!!

So today makes 3 days since my surgery. I'm feeling a little better, I finally feel like getting up and doing stuff instead of sleeping all day. I'm going to get out of the house for the first time today and go down the road to my sisters house. I've missed her and my niece and nephew like crazy! I'm used to seeing them all day everyday and now I haven't seen them in 4 days :( my nose is still really swollen, I can see it all bulging through the cast. It's pretty bad on one side but not as bad on the other. Probably because he had to remove a cartilage spur on one side that was blocking off nearly my entire nasal passage, that's the side that's the most sore. That nostril looks closed shut and the other one is just relaxed, I hope it doesn't stay like that. o_0 lol! Anyways, ill keep y'all updated! :)

Today I finally got to get out of the house. I went down the road to my sisters house to see her and my sweet niece and nephew. It was good to get out for a few minutes and I don't think anyone saw me lol! I am feeling a tad bit of pain today but I'm trying to stick it out and hoping tomorrow will be better. I still have some bruising under my eyes and my face is very swollen!! My poor nose looks huge!! Lol I still can't breathe out of my nose at all. It is completely blocked off. :/ I've tried scraping off some of the fried blood with nasal spray and a q-tip but I'm afraid to poke around too much. I feel lots of pressure in my face. Feels like its about to explode :( I am ready to feel normal again! I know it will all be worth it in the end, it's just a process getting there!

Hi there. Don't bother with the dried blood etc. just leave it. It's hard, I know. I'm now eight weeks post op. Stay away from dust storms.

Girl you look amazing! You have barely any bruising and your nose doesn't look swollen. I am SO swollen and bruised. It even makes my eyes look weird. My mom keeps joking around that I look like I got in a bad fist fight and lost, haha :) I am not loving the dried blood either.. I wiped some of it away, but my tip is SO sensitive I'm scared to touch it. I hope you continue to feel better! Woo wooo!

My advice would be to hold a soaking wet paper towel to the crusted blood And just let it stay there until the blood softens and then u can easily wipe it off. Put aquaphor on external nostrils to keep the area moist!!!

I am feeling a LOT more like myself today! More energetic and not feeling much pain. I put some saline nasal spray up my nose to clean out some of the dried blood and it seems to be working. I still can't breath out of my nose though. :( I missed my two soon to be step children's first T-ball game today & it broke my heart! My fiancé took lots of pictures and videos for me though and they did great! :) I just keep reminding myself that next week this cast will be off and I can go do whatever! Can't believe that under this cast is my NEW nose!! :D how exciting! This day has been much easier than the rest so I know it can only go up from here! :) hoping I can talk my mama into making some homemade Mac and cheese for dinner tonight ;)

I am ready to see too! I'm a little nervous because from the side view if almost looks like my nose comes straight off my forehead and I'm really hoping that its due to swelling. It makes me a little nervous. But thank you for the encouraging words! :))
Agreed with Furryboy, don't try to remove the dried blood, in case it's dried about some of your interior stitches, you don't want to rip any out. Hopefully your surgeon will clean it out a bit when you have the cast removed, although some don't; if that's the case though, a lot of surgeons say that the day the cast comes off, when you go home and take a shower, get the water running hot and let the steam gather in the shower and that'll loosen up all the hardened gunk in there and help it come out. Glad to hear you're doing well though! You're going to look great!

Almost there! I've got 3 days left with this cast on and I am counting down the minutes!!! I went out of the house most of the day today but by the time I got home I was exhausted and took a 2 hour nap. This is the longest week of my life and I am more than ready to get it over with!! I'm getting a sore throat from having to breath out of my mouth and I'm tired of sleeping on my back but I did finally wash my hair by myself instead of having to have someone do it for me :) nothing much has changed since yesterday. Ill update tomorrow :)

Do you have anyone who can help you wash your hair in the sink or bathtub (in case you haven't had the chance to do that yet)? But I hear ya; the first shower after the cast removal when you can submerge your face in the water is one of the most glorious things - or so I've heard. I took a nice, steaming hot shower the night my cast was removed, but I was in a hotel and their showers' pressure was way too strong for me to be able to put my face in the water :(

Soooo my swelling is really starting to go down...

Soooo my swelling is really starting to go down pretty well!! I know it will probably swell back up once the cast is removed but I am getting so excited!! I think I'm going to love my new nose!! :))) only 2 more days left and the cast comes off and I don't have to be in hiding anymore haha! I'm feeling very positive today and haven't had to take any pain meds! Things are really looking up and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I posted some more pics! Thank you everyone for all the support!

No picking!! Girl please, there is a booger the size of a small grain of rice and its all bloody and yucky and im DYING to pick it, but doctor's orders say other wise...GRRR!! Sorry I didn't update yesterday. It's been a long past two days! Yesterday my nose was really starting to itch bad under that cast and I was so uncomfortable. My throat is now sore from sleeping with my mouth open and my nose is still a little stuffy but with all that being said, MY CAST CAME OFF TODAY!! :)))) Yayy!! I LOVE my new nose! It's still really swollen and I do have a bruise on the right side but it will all go away with time! My fiancé says he feels like he's cheating because I look like a different person lol!! He loves it though, as much as I do! I am going to be completely honest though, the cast removal HURT!! It felt like my bone was coming off with the cast! Ouch. & when he cut the stitches out it felt like he was cutting my skin! Worst part of the whole experience was definitely stitches & cast removal. Dr said everything looks good and is healing nicely. I still got a long way to go but it is worth it! Oh yeah.. My smile is really weird and messed up :( anyone know if this is temporary & if so, when can I expect to have my normal smile back?? I hate this chipmunk looking smile I got going on!

Don't worry, you're still really early in the recovery period, it'll take some time for your smile to come back :) But it WILL come back, don't worry about that at all :) Some people's take as long as a couple months, while some people are lucky enough to get theirs back within a week or two (I found my full smile was about 95% back by 10 days post-op). On average, I'd say between a week and a month you should find your smile back :) You look amazing by the way, congrats!

Sorry I haven't updated in a couple days, there wasnt much difference but today I've noticed a lot of swelling has gone down in the side view but my tip is still VERY swollen. It looks like a huge bulb on then end of my nose lol!! I am finally breathing great out of my nose and I can sleep on my side again. My nose is still tender and numb but other than that I'm feeling like myself again and I'm loving it! MY SMILE IS ABOUT 90% BACK!! :) :) :) I'm hoping by tomorrow it will be completely normal! I would say this surgery was definitely worth it. Uncomfortable and depressing at times but definitely worth it! I'm hoping the swelling continues to go down every day! My front view is horrible right now because the tip is so swollen but I know it will go down eventually, I just have to learn patience! Thanks everyone for the support and kind words! :)

It is amazing what a little tweek to the nose will do for our self confidence! I am much happier having people look at me from the side as well. Nearly 4 weeks post-op! :)

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated! It has been a crazy week! My nose is looking better everyday but there is still some swelling, other people don't notice it but I do. I had a check up on Wednesday and the doc said everything is healing nicely and there is still some swelling in the tip but that is normal. Only a couple people have noticed my nose is different and wouldnt you know, its the girls who made fun of me for it in high school! Figures!! lol! I'm very happy with the results and I feel I will be even more happy once the swelling is completely gone! I posted updates pics :)

Well I haven't updated in a while so I figured I better. My stitches finally fell out on one side of my nose but I'm still waiting on them to come out on the other side. The swelling doesn't seem to be getting any better on my tip but I'm hoping it will before my wedding day. My scar is healing nicely. Over all, I'm really happy with my results! I keep forgetting that I don't have a hump on my nose and I still get that feeling of "I hope they aren't looking at my bump" then I realize its gone lol! I posted some updated pics :)

Well the wedding came and went and it was amazing! I'm so happy that I decided to have the rhinoplasty procedure done before my wedding. I felt beautiful and didn't have to worry about being watched from the side and I was able to focus completely on my new husband! :)) I am 100% satisfied with my new nose and I would do it all over again! I'm researching doctors to do mine.. I'm hoping by the first of the year once I get settled in the house I'm buying! I don't live far from this doctor.. I'm in texarkana Arkansas. Is he truly worth the money? I want drastic results. Did he have a system on his computer that showed you about what it would look like?

I can't believe it has been 7 months! I almost forgot what it feels like to be self conscious and not wanting people to see you from the side. I am so pleased with the results and I love my new nose! I never thought I would actually have the surgery done but I am so so glad I did!!

Wow, l love your results! Hoping for very similar changes for my surgery next year. What exactly was done to your nose?
  • Reply
Thank you! :) he actually just shaved down the bridge of my nose and removed a cartilage spur that we didn't know was there. I didn't want any work done to the tip so he did exactly what I asked. He said that during the surgery he also added some cartilage to a spot that was missing some to make it more even. I was very pleased with the results! :)

It's nearly been a year! ????????

Well, next month will make one year since my surgery and I just cannot even begin to express how happy I am that I decided to have the rhinoplasty done. I feel like a new person! It's been such a blessing and such an amazing experience! I am 110% satisfied and completely happy that I chose to go through with the procedure! I wouldn't change a thing! I posted a few pictures although it hasn't changed much from the last pictures I posted. I am very satisfied with my results though! It was totally worth the money, time, pain and discomfort! :)
