I've always been known as "the girl with big boobs". That is actually how many people refer to me before they find out my name. I have size 36DDD (36F) boobs at 5'4" height. I'm definitely not skinny, but my boobs are not proportional to the rest of my body. All my friends are supportive but since they all have small boobs there's nothing for them to really get. I'll just be more like them. The guy I'm seeing now loves big boobs and I'm really hoping he doesn't hate my smaller ones.

My boobs are symmetrical and not saggy and I love the way I look. I'm not getting a breast reduction done for cosmetic reasons, that's for sure. But I can't afford my bras that cost 110$+ or continue having such horrible shoulder and back pain. I'm also a girl that likes running, and I can't even think of running without wearing three sports bras with a regular cotton bra underneath. And of course after running, even for the bus, my shoulders hurt so much.

I'm terrified of getting the reduction done because I like the way I look so much. I'm scared that it'll hurt. I've read so many stories on here of having it hurt so much afterwards. My doc says I'll only need 2 weeks to recover and there won't be any drains. Is that possible? It seems so short. All I need to do is get a blood panel done and bed rest after for a week or so and no jiggling for 2 weeks. Is it really that simple??

I had my pre-op appointment today! It was really long, but I suppose that's just the hospital. A secretary from the hospital called and told me to come in at 10:30 on july 3rd, and so I did. I went to the hospital and waited about an hour to be seen by a nurse. She explained the full procedure and what I had to do before. She gave me two sponges (the cool antiseptic ones that doctors use before a surgery) and I am to wash with them the night before, and the morning of the surgery. She gave me a pee cup that I have to bring in the day of to check if I'm pregnant. Understandable.
She told me there might be drains, and it'll be decided during the procedure. She said that I won't be able to move my arms above my shoulders for 4 weeks. I live on the 3rd floor of my apt building and she said I can't carry anything, including my purse up those stairs. I think that's a little overkill, but my purse is pretty big. I'll figure that out when the time comes.
Then I went and had a "physical" where they just took my blood pressure and pulse. Then to the blood-test area and they took 3 vials of blood.
My surgery is next week... I'm more excited than nervous now. My family is being super supportive so I think I'm ready!!! :)

The surgery went really well! I went in at 8am and was in surgery by 10:30am. I was out around 12:45 and then stayed in the recovery room for 2 hours. When I first woke up I was moaning and the nurses shot me with morphine twice. Apparently I was in a lot of pain the second I woke up. But a few hours later I was happy as a clown. I was home by 3 and basically slept the day away.

The second day I was walking around the apartment. I couldn't move much but it wasn't horrible. The third day I took a walk down the street to the coffee shop for internet. Its about a block away. Am I supposed to? I don't know but it seemed fine. I was exhausted and in a lot of pain afterwards but worth it. I had a check up 4 days after surgery and the doc said they are healing nicely. Each day I walked more and more. I have basically been sitting watching downloaded shows and taking short walks. Yesterday I went to the grocery store (had my sister pick stuff off the shelves and carry everything). The bandages are on until Friday, so 8 days after surgery.

It has now been a week!!! There are sharp pains when I move too much. Sometimes when I don't move it hurts too. But the pain is definitely manageable. I can walk around holding my boobs in place and its fine. I'm pretty sure I'm super bruised. I think I'm a D but there's probably a lot of swelling. The bandages are still on so I can't really tell. I saw my massacred nipple under the bandages and its super gross. Really cool, but super gross.

I'm planning on taking a picture a day for the recovery after the bandages are off so I can make a video of the progression. Just a cool project :)

I posted pictures before and after! I'm very happy. They're small enough to fit into normal people clothes and I don't have to buy xls just so my chest fits. The man is happy, I am happy, everything is going well. I still have sharp pains sometimes. I started driving again a few days ago and it hurts... probably from keeping my arms pressed in slightly and raised. I am sleeping on my side, though I don't know if I'm allowed to. Its a relief to my back and I sleep so much better on my side. Things are going very well :)

Holy smokes!! Your new boobs are beautiful!! I'm so happy for you :). Isn't it amazing how much freedom you have with a smaller chest? You sound like you are doing fantastic. Congratulations!!
Thank you! For real, its amazing. My clothes look amazing as well. I am so happy.

Pictures look great. And I was surprised that you were less than a month out, because your last picture looks fabulous! You must be thrilled. Do you have any idea what size bra you are wearing now?
Thank you!! Yeah the healing is really going well. I'm wearing 38D wireless bras and L sports bras, but the Ds are loose and I'm not filling the full cup. It might be because I am usually a 36 or it might be because I'm a C! I'm going to get professionally measured once the bruising lessens. They're still quite sore. I've been massaging the scars and it hurts like crazy.

Glad you are doing great! Can't wait to see the pix!
Congrats! I bet your excited about seeing your new boobs! Try and take it easy for a little and let your body heal. Don't over do it. Good luck!

Sounds like you are ready to roll! Congrats :-D
Hi there, I know where you're coming from completely. I loved my old boobs, yes they were big, but they were symmetrical & sort of firm (for my age 45) and I was used to them, but the back, neck &shoulder pain was too much to stand anymore.

I had my surgery on May 30th & although I find I tire easily, over all I feel pretty good. I had lipo on the sides as well & thats still a bit tender but manageable. I took 3 weeks off work only because I work 12 hour shifts & I knew from others I'd be tired.

I was told not to lift anything over 10lbs for a month & no running/exercise for that long as well.

The end of the first week I had a hard day, sort of grieving my old boobs, thinking I had made a mistake, just generally doubting my decision, but once some more of my swelling went down & I started to feel better & others started telling me how great I look I felt so much better. As far as the boyfriend goes, I'm sure you know this, but if he doesn't want you after the surgery he wasn't the right guy to begin with :)

best of luck!
You have a beautiful body now but if you are having pain it will only get worse with age. I just had my reduction 9 wks ago. At age 46 my issues got to a point that I needed to do something. The dent on my shoulder was so bad. it was causing migraines and numbness to my arm and fingers. My boobs were feeling constantly achy. Like when you are having your period and your boobs hurt. The pain after BR is not bad. Just keep up with your meds and wear your compression bra. I did not have drains on my breast and very minor swelling. I was back to work in 10 days at my desk job. I also had a TT at the same time. I love my new smaller boobs and the hubby does too! it's the best thing I have ever done for myself.
I read your review and noticed that your post-op boobs became itchy? I was just worrying about that because if they're itchy you can't scratch right? Moving them too much could remove the stitches.
Sorry I just saw your question about the itching. You can't scratch. I would just pull my bra away from my skin and reposition it. I would also blow on the them and that helped :). I was taking an antihistamine and using hydrocortisone cream too. I have really sensitive skin though so you may not get that bad.
Its so itchy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I only rub over clothing. I'm trying so hard not to itch.
Don't worry, you will do fine and will really like having them smaller! I am a lot like you, my breasts were pretty nice before, I liked how they looked appearance wise but they were huge on me. Another "girl with the big boobs" here! I am 11 days post op now, had no drains and have been recovering in the pattern your doctor said-the first week was a lot of laying back and napping but this week I'm a lot more back to normal, just with the lifting and moving limits on my arms. I wouldn't say you'd be all healed in two weeks, but if there are no complications 2 weeks is about the time it takes to get close to normal in your daily life again. I hope that helps!

Hi Swan. For me the post-op pain wasn't that horrible at all. I was off work for two weeks and then able to go back to work. I had to make some modifications and be careful for the first couple of weeks back at work, I did tend to tire easily at first, but I got more stamina each day.

I wish you the best of luck as you get closer to your date!
Hi! I just had the reduction this morning and can agree with others who have said theneck and back pain is gone immediately! I have a pinching type pain where the drains are-other than that, no pain. This pain is temporary-the backhand neck was allthetime! So I'm thinking positive thoughts and looking forward to the final outcome. I started at a38G and think I'm a b/c. Can't tell yet-but I'm already so happy!
