I've always been known as "the girl with big boobs". That is actually how many people refer to me before they find out my name. I have size 36DDD (36F) boobs at 5'4" height. I'm definitely not skinny, but my boobs are not proportional to the rest of my body. All my friends are supportive but since they all have small boobs there's nothing for them to really get. I'll just be more like them. The guy I'm seeing now loves big boobs and I'm really hoping he doesn't hate my smaller ones.
My boobs are symmetrical and not saggy and I love the way I look. I'm not getting a breast reduction done for cosmetic reasons, that's for sure. But I can't afford my bras that cost 110$+ or continue having such horrible shoulder and back pain. I'm also a girl that likes running, and I can't even think of running without wearing three sports bras with a regular cotton bra underneath. And of course after running, even for the bus, my shoulders hurt so much.
I'm terrified of getting the reduction done because I like the way I look so much. I'm scared that it'll hurt. I've read so many stories on here of having it hurt so much afterwards. My doc says I'll only need 2 weeks to recover and there won't be any drains. Is that possible? It seems so short. All I need to do is get a blood panel done and bed rest after for a week or so and no jiggling for 2 weeks. Is it really that simple??

She told me there might be drains, and it'll be decided during the procedure. She said that I won't be able to move my arms above my shoulders for 4 weeks. I live on the 3rd floor of my apt building and she said I can't carry anything, including my purse up those stairs. I think that's a little overkill, but my purse is pretty big. I'll figure that out when the time comes.
Then I went and had a "physical" where they just took my blood pressure and pulse. Then to the blood-test area and they took 3 vials of blood.
My surgery is next week... I'm more excited than nervous now. My family is being super supportive so I think I'm ready!!! :)
The surgery went really well! I went in at 8am and...

The second day I was walking around the apartment. I couldn't move much but it wasn't horrible. The third day I took a walk down the street to the coffee shop for internet. Its about a block away. Am I supposed to? I don't know but it seemed fine. I was exhausted and in a lot of pain afterwards but worth it. I had a check up 4 days after surgery and the doc said they are healing nicely. Each day I walked more and more. I have basically been sitting watching downloaded shows and taking short walks. Yesterday I went to the grocery store (had my sister pick stuff off the shelves and carry everything). The bandages are on until Friday, so 8 days after surgery.
It has now been a week!!! There are sharp pains when I move too much. Sometimes when I don't move it hurts too. But the pain is definitely manageable. I can walk around holding my boobs in place and its fine. I'm pretty sure I'm super bruised. I think I'm a D but there's probably a lot of swelling. The bandages are still on so I can't really tell. I saw my massacred nipple under the bandages and its super gross. Really cool, but super gross.
I'm planning on taking a picture a day for the recovery after the bandages are off so I can make a video of the progression. Just a cool project :)
I posted pictures before and after! I'm very happy...

The doctor'soffices were closed Monday and Tuesday so when I had questions about some bleeding I had to ask a different doctor. The office called me on Wednesday though, so as soon as they could.

Pictures look great. And I was surprised that you were less than a month out, because your last picture looks fabulous! You must be thrilled. Do you have any idea what size bra you are wearing now?
Glad you are doing great! Can't wait to see the pix!
Sounds like you are ready to roll! Congrats :-D
I had my surgery on May 30th & although I find I tire easily, over all I feel pretty good. I had lipo on the sides as well & thats still a bit tender but manageable. I took 3 weeks off work only because I work 12 hour shifts & I knew from others I'd be tired.
I was told not to lift anything over 10lbs for a month & no running/exercise for that long as well.
The end of the first week I had a hard day, sort of grieving my old boobs, thinking I had made a mistake, just generally doubting my decision, but once some more of my swelling went down & I started to feel better & others started telling me how great I look I felt so much better. As far as the boyfriend goes, I'm sure you know this, but if he doesn't want you after the surgery he wasn't the right guy to begin with :)
best of luck!
Hi Swan. For me the post-op pain wasn't that horrible at all. I was off work for two weeks and then able to go back to work. I had to make some modifications and be careful for the first couple of weeks back at work, I did tend to tire easily at first, but I got more stamina each day.
I wish you the best of luck as you get closer to your date!
