Drains!!!

Ok so I'm going to be a bitter Betty today Cuz I still have my drains in :(. Yes almost 3 weeks later and I'm still draining. That has been a drag. Especially because I had very important functions to go to and I contantly had to find new ways to hide my drains. As much as I hate them I don't advise anyone up take them out prematurely. You'll be asking for a seroma and no one has time for that! Especially me because I don't live in the states and I don't trust doctors on my island so I had to be extra cautious.
So apart from the drains the recovery process has been very interesting. I feel like I'm the only one who healed backwards. As in I saw my final result first and experienced all the swelling after. So I've been very swollen these past few weeks, hence the drainage. I give myself massages every morning and it really helped push that drainage along and stop the pain and tightness associated with the swelling. As of today, I'm on track to have these drains put my tomorrow.
As far as my body, I def lost a little volume in my hips and butt. However I have been doing a lot of sitting because I cannot stand for 6 weeks. I had to keep my life pushing. I do sleep on my belly still but I sit down on the toilet and drive. I post some pics that I took over the weekend. They aren't high quality because I don't have a full length mirror in my apt so I have to make due with FaceTime. I'll try to get better pics up on my 3 week update. Take care loves!!

Recovery House

So I promised that I would detail my recovery house chronicles with you guys.
I stayed at Assistance4life, the RH recommended by Spectrum. I paid my deposit over a month prior and paid the balance to Karla before I got my SX. I got my SX around 2 ish on 4/22 and was back at the RH by 6pm. The first thing I noticed was the distance of the recovery house from spectrum. It's far (~40mins) and it's in a residential area. Before I go any further I do want to say that Karla runs 2 recovery homes; one of which is closer to stores like Walmart, Spectrum, and is nicer. But back to the matter at hand. I got to the house and was led to a "room". I put it in quotes because it wasn't really a bedroom. It was an area in the living room, close to the door that was closed off with a oriental separator. I was in too much pain to find out why i paid $700 to be in a holding area. But anyway I took a quick nap and was awakened to take my meds and pee and stuff. I was fed my soup dinner and given plenty of fluids.

Pros:
1. The nurse Maryma!!!! This woman is an absolute Angel!!!!!! She took care of me and the other girls like she was our mom. She put me at such ease because I knew I would be fed great food, helped with the things I asked for and even the things I didn't ask for, she was just on top of it! She kept the area squeaky clean and her food was bomb. She doesn't speak much English but you can still feel the love. She made recovery so much better for me.

2. Karla picked up my meds for me, which was awesome because a lot of out of state girls like me had a really hard time getting their pain meds specifically. All the pharmacies would say they don't have it. One girl I saw at the office had to recover without her meds! I felt so bad for her! So having Karla pick up the meds was such a relief.

Cons:
1. The other nurse... I don't know her name but she was responsible for taking care of us for a few days. She has dark hair, big eyes and the shittiest attitude know to man. She was absolutely horrible. She always had an attitude and had no compassion what so ever. She would watch us struggle and wait for us to ask her for help! And if we asked for help she acted like we were bothering her. She had no problem telling us not to sit in her recliner chair and would not move as she watched Dr. McDreamy get killed off Greys Anatomy. So we had to stand if the couch was full Cuz her ass was adamant about not moving from that recliner. She would turn her TV up super loud to drown us out. Just absolutely horrible. She was put in her place by a few of the girls. And her food was ass. We starved lol. If you see this woman at the RH then run. Drains and all you need to haul ass.
2. I had to change rooms in the first RH. And then switch houses. So I basically had 3 different beds for 4 nights. That wasn't fun.
3. Karla was sketchy at times. Not to me directly but to a few of the other girls. She wasn't as transparent as I thought. I didn't like that

So I would give the experience a 6/10. I would recommend it only on the strength of Maryma. I stayed on a hotel for 6 days after I left the recovery house and I was feeling much better and able to do things on my own.

Massages!!!

I got massages by 3 different people while in Miami. There was a big bald man with a damn ultrasound machine that came to my recovery house and he was TRASH. Would not recommend him at all. I didn't drain and he obviously isn't trained in Lymphatic Drain Massages. $60 down the drain.
I got another massage at Spectrum with the masseuse there and she's a sweetie. But hands down Mirian at medicalmassageprofessionals.com gives THE BEST massages. If you are in Miami you need to be going to her. I lie to you not I stood in that room and DRAINED for 5 mins straight! That water was just pouring out. That massage was about 45 mins total and was a 3 step process. I really wish I would've went to her from the beginning. Would've saved myself a lot of money and pain. As soon as Mirian was done the pain reduced dramatically. I highly recommend this woman. She is well trained in this type of massage and it shows. So now when I go home I will know exactly what to look for in a massage and I'll definitely ask of their technique beforehand so I don't waste time and money. There's too many people out here saying they do this type of massage and don't know what the hell they're doing. Go on medicalmassageprofessionals.com and see how it's supposed to be done
