Panniculectomy and Brachioplasty

ORIGINAL POST

Hello everyone! I have a panniculectomy and...

WORTH IT$4,097
Hello everyone! I have a panniculectomy and brachioplasty on May 31, 2013. I am currently 13 days post op. I thought about writing a review but I was nervous to do so because I had no idea how the surgery would turn out.
A little about me: 30 year old graduate student with 1 small child. My highest weight was 247lbs (265lbs while pregnant). I lost some weight and got down to 185lbs but had a lot of loose skin. So I elected to have the above named surgeries. The thing is though I would have liked to be have been smaller (say 150-160lbs) at the time of surgery but I am leaving the current state I am in and my PS is pregnant and going on leave so I elected to get the surgery now. The panniculectomy was covered by insurance and I paid $4097 for the arm lift.
I am still healing from the surgery and have not been able to return to school yet. The most annoying thing about surgery: THE DRAINS! I still have two in and they may not come out for another 2 weeks :(
Also, have tummy and arm work done at the same time can be hard. My mom has been helping out SO MUCH. I cannot wait until I am able to more things on my own.
Well, I don't know what else to say but so far I am happy with the results. Let me know if you have any questions.

Your post op picture looks great! Hope you heal super fast.
Thanks! Getting better everyday now!

Hi there, welcome and thanks so much for sharing your experience with us!

Your after photo does look awesome! You must be pleased with the results already.

Have you had much pain or downtime during your recovery period?

Hey! Yesterday marked 3 weeks post op for me and I got my last drain removed (Thank God!) The pain due to the panniculectomy is not so bad; my brachioplasty is actually more cumbersome for me. I feel more pain in my arm incision. The initial recovery time did take longer than I thought it would and longer than I would have liked. Now I have a ton of catching up to do in school. So far I am pleased with my results and I am looking forward to getting in the gym in a few weeks and working on toning and additional weight loss. I will begin scar therapy next week and will do a review of that following. Thanks! Cheers!

So glad you're doing well! It looks and sounds like it was definitely worth it, even with the longer recovery period.

I had a panniculectomy on 6/28/13. I have been having a lot of vomiting. Are you experience any of the symptoms.
Hi lovie, I'm sorry you're having nausea. I had my panniculectomy on 6/17 and never had that experience. You should call your dr and ask for a prescription. Hope you feel better soon.
Was the reconstructing of the belly button covered by insurance?
Everything was covered by insurance :)
What type of insurance?
wow...your "before" pic looks just like my stomach... I am about 155 pounds today.... not having my pannus removed until Xmas season so I may be down another 10 pounds by then ( hopefully).... if I look as you do in the "after" pic I will be pleased
