My goal was to have "normal" thighs. I had lost 25kgs through surgery and diet and exercise, but stuck at the same weight for over a year. Excess skin on inner thighs made it embarassing to wear bathers or even exercise pants, so that was my main aim - but thankfully Dr Webster recommended the abdominoplasty too - I am thrilled with the results, and so is my husband. I had always been afraid to consider surgery, thinking I was too old, and it would be too expensive. I wish I had it done years ago! I am far more confident in all areas of my life- general movement (which had been difficult for me), working, exercising, shopping (for clothes especially) and acceptance of myself. My GP has commended me on taking such a proactive approach to my health. My whole family enjoys a happier and more active woman. Pros: Seeing my toes without bending! My flat stomach! Wearing bathers, walking without rashes appearing, being able to bend over and put on my stockings, wearing skirts that don't ride up on bulging hips. Cons: post-surgical pain, 6 weeks of limited movement and wearing a corset (especially in hot weather), and one infected suture.
