A little over 2 weeks post op!- Medford, OR

When I was in the fifth grade my cousin and I were playing around when her head collided with mine and I ended up with a broken nose. Now that I am 24 years old (after years of wanting to fix it but being too scared to actually go through with it) I decided it was time. I am now 2 days post op and I am LOVING my new nose already! I have very little swelling and essentially no bruising. I've only taken my pain meds a couple of times as I need them to help me sleep at night. As I said earlier I was terrified to go through with the surgery and have heavily contemplated it for almost 7 years! Now that it is finally over I wish I would have done it sooner! I'm excited to see the final result next week and would definitely recommend this procedure and my surgeon to anyone!

Gorgeous! Can't wait to see the final product :)

Well I figured I would go ahead and post a brief update since I'm a bit bored ;) I am usually such a busy body that staying inside and laying on the couch for days on end is a little tough for me! Today was the first day I felt a little pain, which felt like a mild/dull sinus headache. I took some Tylenol and things are back to normal! What little swelling I received doesn't seem to be any worse or any better since yesterday but breathing through my nose is becoming easier and easier as time goes on. I am scheduled for cast removal Thursday of next week at 2 which is making me surprisingly NERVOUS! Everything has gone so smoothly that it has me thinking, "this has to be too good to be true! Something has to go wrong, right?" I hope not, but I do tend to be a bit of a worry wart at times. Needless to say, I am ready for the big reveal so I can see my new nose and finally put my nerves to rest!

Thanks for sharing with us here in the rhinoplasty community! What has been the hardest part of your recovery so far?

I would say the waiting is the hardest! I cant wait to get this cast off! That, and breathing through my nose. While it hasn't been completely impossible to breathe I regularly feel the need to BLOW MY NOSE, BAD! Which I obviously can't do so its a little frustrating..

It certainly looks fabulous already! :) Good luck with the final results :)

Day 5- well I am feeling miserable. Yesterday I was glued to my couch all day with a raging headache and cold sweats/chills. Unfortunately not only does today not seem like it is going to be any better, I am feeling worse! My stomache is very upset and just the smell of breakfast being made is enough to make me lose it :( I am not having any pain in regards to my nose and the swelling and bruising have seem to gone down quite a bit so I guess that is good..I hope I start feeling better soon because this is really bumming me out! So over this process and ready to move on..
Sorry to hear you're feeling like that :( I had similar experiences on days 2 and 5 (I think) post-op. It's not fun at all; the good news is, they don't last long and once they pass, they're usually gone for good :) You're looking great!

So I woke up early this morning feeling (and looking) like a corpse...I was experiencing incredibly sharp shooting pains in my stomach, nausea, hot flashes, cold sweats, chills, and dizziness. what on earth could be wrong with me?? I'm usually never sick in my normal life, and if I do end up sick it normally doesn't last any longer than 24 hours so it just wasn't making any sense to me why I kept waking up feeling WORSE and WORSE each day! This whole ordeal is taking a huge emotional toll on me as I can't spend hardly any time with my children. all I can physically do is lay around, with no appetite, and no strength to hardly get up and use the restroom. Well I called my doctor this morning to tell them what is going on and to see what they think I should do and they seem to think that the antibiotics may have over done their job and ended up doing something to my gut! Which totally makes sense! I have no concerns when it comes to my nose! No pain, no swelling, no bruising and no trouble breathing through either nostril! Although, my husband isn't the most affectionate person towards me right now, he has been such a MAJOR help with the children and has literally done everything when it comes to taking care of them for me so I can rest..the doctor prescribed me some anti-nausea medicine to help me until the antibiotics are out of my system. My husband is going to get me some yogurt which should put some live cultures and good bacteria back into my stomach and help me feel better sooner. Needless to say, if I never had to deal with this whole situation again it would be TOO SOON! Here's to a speedy recovery from something that has essentially nothing to do with my actual procedure...

Ok! I think I'm human again! (Not quite 100% yet, but it's good enough for now) I'm ready for bed, but can actually hold a meal down and i don't feel like fainting when I stand up any longer! My stomach isnt quite right yet and I'm still having some sharp pains; but not half as much as i was experiencing just this morning, so this has me hoping that tomorrow I should be in tip top shape just in time to get some homework done (yay :/ ) I just want to thank everyone for the helpful and supportive comments I've received from everybody! No one really understands unless it is something they have been through personally, finding this website has helped me tremendously in more ways than one :)
Hope you start to feel better. You are beautiful! And so lucky to have hardly any bruising :) Can't wait to see pics after cast removal!

I finally get my cast off tomorrow! I am so...

I finally get my cast off tomorrow! I am so nervous and so over this stupid cast that its hard for me to even get excited. I'm feeling a little down at the moment because I'm still feeling ill from the whole ordeal with my meds, I'm a tiny bit lonely and I'm breaking out quite a bit since I can't really wash my face that well. I'm hopeful that revealing my new nose tomorrow will allow me to finally move on! I've been actively researching and planning my surgery since I was 16 years old and I have to tell you I am OVER the whole "nose" subject! I know, I know, I'm sounding like a brat right now but it may have something to do with my cabin fever I have acquired over the last week! Haha. I know I am going to love the results because I don't feel like I have expectations that have been set too high and I am confident in the fact the my doctor was very open and receptive to my needs...I just don't think this whole process could've drug on any longer....HUMPH!
I can totally understand the cabin fever. I'm so grumpy and down this week. What day was your surgery?

Ok, so! I had a dream last night that when I took my cast off it looked like this reallllly pointy thing with two uneven nostrils and every time I smiled the part that extends from my face folded up like one of those beds people have in their walls that pull down when company is over...WHAAAT? Haha I took that as my body telling me to calm the ef down! Everything will be fine! Honestly I don't really care how my nose turns out as long as it does my look mutilated (which I know it doesn't look mutilated, I can see that much even with the cast on) and there is no hump in the bridge, I am good! After all I've got more important things to worry about! Anyway! I've got to get ready my appointment to get me cast off is today!!

I got my cast off! I posted some pictures and this is before I get to wash my face or anything but considering it is still swollen I am very happy with the results! I'm glad it is finally over and I can get back to my normal day to day routine...I have SO much school work to catch up on :( but I feel great and am really glad I did it :)

Things are great! I still have days where the swelling is a little worse than others. Especially where the hump was removed which is a little annoying at times because it makes me feel like I still have one...other than that I am very happy the way things turned out!
Love your result. I had a hump removed too, and some days it also swells more than others. Drives me crazy.
