I have been reading these messages and they are all very helpful! I am scheduled to see Dr. Barry Davidson on April 2nd. He was the one who had put them in. I am extremely nervous and worried as to what they are going to look like. I am also nervous to find out what the price is going to be. They wouldn't quote me over the phone. But from reading what everyone had to say, is helpful! I guess I will have to touch base later after my appt.

Well, I have decided to go see a different Dr., scheduled to see her on the 5th. I have read her reviews and all were wonderful and very positive. So will touch base after my appt. She operates both in house and at hospital.

Well met with my dr and the cost is going to be $2700 done at a surgery center, local with sedation. I am scheduled to have them removed May 8th. Wish I could've gotten a lift but just can't afford it when got mortgage and bills to pay etc. So I am extremely nervous as to what they will look like...hope not like droopy bananas! Ugh....

Well I have met with my Dr and have scheduled to have implants removed on May 8th. Having surgery done at a surgery center, local with sedation. Cost is 2700. I have just enough money saved. Thank God its not 5000! So I am extremely nervous as to what they are gonna look like after...hope not like droopy bananas! Ugh...will touch base after surgery is done.

Good luck with your procedure. I am sure all will be fine. Don't worry too much about how they're going to look. What is of paramount importance is your health and getting them out and giving yourself at least six months for things to settle. You will be just fine and I know you will be so relieved once they are out and its all over. Thinking of you. xxx

My implants were sub pectorals with contractures. The only option was removal at a surgery center.... The fees were 2000$ for the surgeon, 775$ for anesthesia and I think 1600$ for the surgery center. I was under general because I was told that with the contractures and scar tissue I would not tolerate local Mac. That being said I woke up in so much pain so I'm glad I was out during the surgery. Best of luck arranging your explant. Keep us updated!!!

Thanks Delabryne, I know I would be extremely nervous to just be under a local. Unless they can really sedate enough to make me fall asleep. I will find out when I see my Dr. Next week.

I had to go see Dr. Shektman and there was a 75.00 consultation fee that is thrn deducted from the 2500.00 if you go through with the surgery. There is no way that explant should cost the same even though many surgeons do charge the same. I think it really does depend on what type of anesthesia and if it is done in the hospital or office setting as the hospital will charge a fee that will be included also. Good luck. Keep us posted

Thank you so much for the information, this helps. I sent an email out to your doctor to get a quote. Hopefully they will respond. If my doctor charges too much I will consider Dr Shektman. There is also O'Sullivans surgeons in Wellesley that I emailed, nothing yet. My Dr is Barry Davidson, he is located at Newton Wellesley hospital. I have a feeling he will charge the same as it was when he put them in. Thank you again for your help! ;)

It was local but i was sedated by the anesthesiologist. I was completely knocked out but still breathing on my own. I could have gone to the hospital and had general anesthesia but that is when the fees will jump up. He only removed the top part of the capsules and did have to do some cleaning out of scar tissue with my left breast which i think might be why it appears a little smaller than the right.

Also brownies123, did he perform a capsullectomy? Like clean out any scar tissue?

Thank you. Did you have a choice if you wanted to be put to sleep? I dont think I could handle being put under a local and feeling them tug away??? Are you sure it didnt hurt?

hello, Looks like you're in Massachusetts. I am also and I spent 2500.00 for removal only. Let me know if you would like my PS name. He was very straightforward and did not try to sway me one way or another. Which I think is very important. I personally feel that if a surgeon says you will look terrible with removal then they are in it for the $ only. That is my opinion. As you can see, many of the women on here not only look great after removal but are truly happy. Good luck

Thanks Brownies123! Sure if you wouldnt mind giving me your Drs name that would be great. I do have an appt with my doc that has put them in years ago on April 2nd. They wouldnt quote me over the phone, said it was up to the Dr. But they dont charge consultation fee. If he is too high then I will def. Check out your dr. If not too far away. Also yes I agree with some of the photos they all look great! But cant tell on some if they had a lift? Some look like they did and thats extra $$.

I believe if you have a lift there would be a scar running vertically from the bottom of the nipple down under the breast?? I think. So my surgeon is in Wellesley, Ma. His name is Dr. Shektman in case you decide to go elsewhere. It was done in his office under local anesthesia with sedation. At first I was a little worried about not being completely under but I promis you I don't remember a thing so it wasn't bad at all : ) Good luck

Hi Angiemcc, I have been wanting to get them removed for quite a while. I feel that they are too big for my body. Want to feel more comfortable in tank tops, dresses etc. I got them put in because my left was just slightly larger than the right and wanted to even them out. Now 14yrs later they have dropped a bit and you can see the left is bigger again, but much bigger. Makes me unhappy to see this everyday in the mirror. So I am hoping my dr will be able to also remove some tissue to even out with the right. As for prices, in my state, so far other offices I have contacted said around $5000 the same as it was for putting them in. :(

Thanks for finding us and starting your story! Why are you wanting to get them out?

Let us know when you have your consult and get a cost. It's definitely less than getting them in, but every doctor charges a different fee.
