My explant op is scheduled for this Sunday and I can't wait. I've had problems with the left implant ever since I had them done 4 years ago. The left implant was replaced 2 years ago because of capsular contracture but I've experienced discomfort and pain, at times, ever since.

I've been thinking about having the procedure for quite awhile now and when I went to see my surgeon he told me the left implant had flipped. That sealed the fate of the implants! He flipped it back over and the sensation was one I never want to have again. I felt so nauseated!

I am a little apprehensive about how my boobs will look implant free but I know that I am making the right decision. This site has made me believe this as much as any pain I've had and am grateful to have found it and to have read others' stories.

Well just 1 day to go and I've got mixed feelings - excited to finally be pain-free and au naturale again but also nervous of any complications etc. Myself and my partner will be away for a few days so I won't be checking back in until Weds or Thur but I will defo let you know how it goes then.

I am going to try and add my before photos now. x

Well it's all over now and I am feeling so happy...

Well it's all over now and I am feeling so happy with the outcome. Obviously my boobs look a little different to before! But I'm ecstatic it's all done. I had hardly any pain and my surgeon said that he left the capsules in as my scar tissue was very thin. Luckily I have enough breast tissue left and hopefully once they 'fluff up' I will feel even better.

I'd like to say to anyone contemplating explant, in my case it's definitely been worth it. If you're unhappy or experiencing any pain, discomfort, ruptures etc etc explant is the way forward.

Well it's been a week and a half and I've got my post-op appointment today. I can honestly say having the explant was one of the best decisions that I have made. I have had very little discomfort, although the stitches are starting to itch where they are healing, and hardly any pain at all. I think I have been very lucky and will not be messing around with my body in the future. This has been a very valuable, if expensive, lesson!

I also think that having only had the original implants for four years helped with the sagging etc and I know I still had quite a bit of breast tissue. My nurse also told me that over the next few months my boobs would 'right themselves' and change their shape and appearance as they continue to settle back down. I think this is the thing that we need to remember - what you see after your op is not necessarily how your boobs will be. It can be a shock for some people after living with implants for so long, so remembering this will help.

I will upload photos post-op now.

Thanks for the info, I had my first surgery there approx 12years ago and the surgeon then was really nice. I've emailed a couple of surgeons with my details as I really do need the full works, removal enbloc ( implant and capsule intact) plus I will need some sort of fat transfer, either by needle or I'm thinking more trans flap like they do for ladies that have had a mastectomy, otherwise after having several surgeries over the years I will end up flat chested. More like bee stings than boobs!! :-)

You look amazing. I am just starting the search for a surgeon that will do the explant for me, I need a surgeon that will remove the capsule as well as the implant. Could you let me know who did your op. I had my implant surgeries x 3 (due to complications and the the dreaded PIP) done in Manchester as this is a good location for me. many thanks and continue to heal well.

Thank you!! I had my explant done by The Harley Medical Group. The surgeon was fantastic and the staff at the hospital were brilliant as well. I can recommend them 100%; they didn't try to put me off at any point and were fully supportive whilst being totally professional. Good luck with your explant :-)

Thank you, I am really chuffed. Had my post-op check up last week and the nurse said I'm healing better than anyone she'd seen. The dressing was worse for me, it cut me and made me very sore so I was very glad to get that off. Just got steristrips on now until next week. x

Thank you. It took me ages to save up, it cost me as much to explant as it did to implant. Not a cheap option by any means but so worth it when I finally had it done.

He took out the implant only, he told me that the capsule scar tissue was so thin it wouldn't pose any future problem.

Hi! Your after removal results are fab!!! You've got a great shape :) Did you have a lift at some point in the past? And also, what cc implants did you have? (overs or unders?) Thanks in advance!

Thank you!! My implants were 230g and were overs. The left one cc'd within the first year so I had it replaced but still had problems with the new implant. Only had them done originally 4 years ago so that may have helped the end result! I was a C cup before the op and only wanted an uplift; my surgeon told me he couldn't do an uplift without putting in implants. Unfortunately circumstances at the time meant I was limited in finding an alternative surgeon so went with it. An expensive lesson I think!! :-) x

I'm scheduled for an explant, go for an MRI the 10th. My implants are 23 years old. I have a CC with possible hematoma. Baker IV, painful, implants need to come out. I have a surgeon that I trust. Still, I worry about the outcome as silicone may have traveled to breast tissue. I want my health, be free of this and I encourage those that opt for implants think twice.
