Six weeks post-op tummy tuck. No regrets!
Updated on 10 Mar 2011:
I decided to take some pics in the morning when things are less swollen just to see if I could see a difference. Let me know what you ladies think?
I'm not liking how my belly button is looking...so I stuffed some rolled up gauze inside it today hoping I can stretch it. It's looking all closed up.

My doctor was everything I would want in a plastic surgeon. Experienced, board certified, very personable. He gives you honest advice about what results to expect in your specific case.

Welcome to RealSelf :) Would you share your tips and tricks during recovery with the ladies on the site? It is really nice to hear from everyone so we are all able to learn from each other.
Do you have pictures you care to share. We are a visual group out here!
What would you say is your biggest complaint so far in your recovery?
I have before pics that I took myself but no "afters" yet. I will post some soon! BTW..Where do I go to post those?
As far as my recovery, I really expected the worst. I was thinking I would be completely bed-ridden for the first few days. Surprisingly I was able to move around the house slowly and carefully. It really felt better to stand than sit at first. My pain is not so bad except for getting up and down. My leather sofa has been best for me getting comfortable- I think because it is easy to slide around on without lifting your body too much.
My biggest complaint is the constipation. I tried to be prepared for that by taking Miralax several days before the surgery. I feel like if I could just have a normal bowel movement I would feel so much better! Still taking stool softeners and glycerin suppositories to try to get things back to normal.Ugh!
The other thing is that your back gets so tired from stooping over. I have one of those gel ice packs...thanks for your advice about that Kimmer! It has been a lifesaver!
The best way I can explain the pain is a burning sensation where the incision is. The lipo areas are just sore like someone slammed you with a baseball bat!
Reading your post I was having flash backs to my recovery....OUCH. Over all it sounds like you are doing very well. Hang on because it does get easier.
I loved looking down and seeing the flat tummy! I would always look in amazement and just smile :) For years I was not able to see my Va Jay Jay when standing up. Funny the little things that excite us...
Did you try taking the Milk of Magnesia? A couple of full doses of that will clean out the pipes quickly. You will feel like a new woman after that little episode. We will all do the poopy dance for you...LOL
Some of that burning sensation is the pressure from the bowels being full...UGH right!

LOL...must have been the poopy dance I did for you. I love that stuff! It makes you go but doesn't give you cramps. Tastes like nasty chalk but works so well that it is worth it!
Thanks for posting the pics!
It is good to see the milk of magnesia works so well. I might have to get some just to be ready!!
So the lipo do you think it is more painful than the tummy tuck area? My doc was going to so little lipo on my love handles. Thanks for your post
As far as the lipo...it just makes you very sore and at first it did seem worse than my tummy.
Oh my gosh you look awesome!! What a difference!
The purple marks will come off after a few showers...no worries!
Maybe it's just not updated yet?
Let me check...
Ready for some relief!
Also, I posted my before pics. I will have some afters posted in a day or so.
Loving this site!! So nice to have such a great place to share our experiences.
I am very anxious to see your after pics, even though it is so close to having the surgery done. My belly looks much like yours pre-surgery!
Hang in there and keep us posted! :)

I have posted some after shots now. Still some pretty ugly bruises from lipo, but it's still early...7 days since the tummy tuck.
Do you have yours scheduled yet?
I am hoping to schedule it for the week that my kids are on spring break so that I can send them away. That would be the last week of March. Give or take a few days. I am willing to take them out early to schedule around the surgery too, if I had to. I am going to ask that at my consultation.
Keep us posted on your recovery!! I will be following closely in hopes that I get the same results as you!! :)
I haven't shared my tt news with many people here in my hometown yet. I am so happy with the way it looks that I kinda want to show it off! :))
I did have drains- 2 of them. I was very blessed that one was ready to come out 3 days post-op and the other at 5 days post-op. My daughter had her tt the same day as I did. Yes,we did it together and it has been a very special mom/daughter experience!
She still has one of her drains in at 9 days post-op.
You can get plenty of moral support here. This site has helped me so much!
