Having saved the £9,500 over the last four years, I finally had a breast uplift and tummy tuck at the beginning of April 2013. The hospital staff were lovely, I had an allergic reaction to the surgical tape so my abdomin came up in angry red blisters- apart from not being satisfied with the results (I'll go into detail in a minute) I didn't have any problems until about 6 weeks post op. on the day I was 6 weeks post op, I went to get in the shower, for some reason I felt underneath my right breast and found a gaping hole about the size of a 5 pence piece. On closer inspection I found a stich poking through, I wasn't too concerned about that as the post op nurse had told me about spitting sutures and I'd had about 3-4 little ones so far. I eased this one out and although it was about 3 1/2 inches in length it slid out very easily. I cleaned it thoroughly and steri stripped the hole as best I could. The strips didn't stay on long as the opening started weeping. I had hoped that removing the suture would have alleviated the problem and the wound would have closed (no such luck) it's still weeping a yellowy substance (doesn't have any odour though). My left nipple has been sore post op, it feels like there is a tiny knot under the surface, I gently pressed my nipple yesterday and pus exuded from a tiny whole, since then I have been able to release a few droplets of puss every few hours by applying pressure. Again, the liquid does not have an odour.
Going back to why I am not satisfied with my results- ill start with my breast uplift and then go onto my fleur de lis tummy tuck. Okay, so, I wanted to have a breast uplift for three reasons, 1) I wanted the saggyness to go and to have perky uplifted breasts. 2) my right breast has always been between 1 1/2 to 2 cup sizes bigger and hung about 2 inches lower than the other, so I wanted my breasts to be evened out ie) the right made smaller. 3) the fullness in my breasts was at the bottom, so they were very flat and then full, I wanted to have the lift to remove the excess skin which would in turn push the fullness up higher (if that makes sense!). My tummy was so stretched when I carried the twins that I had stretch marks almost up to my rib cage, I had a saggy apron of skin which hung down over my pubic area. I wanted a tummy tuck to get rid of the apron and to tighten the skin up to my rib cage, the surgeon advised that I should have the fleur de lis tummy tuck which involves making an incision from hip to hip and from rib cage to pelvis and removing the excess skin and fat. I opted for a breast uplift and the fleur de lis tummy tuck with lipo.
I am now 9 weeks post op, I haven't seen my surgeon since the day of the op. I have only seen the clinic nurse who told me I was healing very well. I have tried to explain my concerns about the result but she said I should be pleased that I now have hip bones. The reasons why I am I I'm-satisfied with the results are as follows: Firstly, I'd just like to say- I know they're not miracle workers but considering the money I paid I am unhappy. My right breast is still two sizes bigger than the left, it is much fuller and still hangs 1-1 1/2 inches lower than the left. My left breast is deflated and although higher than the right- the nipple is smaller than the right and is positioned a whole nipple length lower than the right, not only that- my right nipple points upwards and my left points forwards and downwards. My tummy looks better in some areas but worse in others, firstly the incision line was supposed to go across my pubic line and then up towards my hips- so it would be covered by my knickers or at least partially covered. Instead, my public area has been pulled up about two inches above my knicker line. The apron has gone, which obviously I am pleased about but the vertical incision doesn't seem to have been taken up high enough towards the rib cage and I don't feel like enough excess skin and fat was taken out. The area below my ribs is still flabby and wrinkly. The area just above my new belly button is wobbly and wrinkly. In some ways my tummy looks worse now because I have this excess skin and fat above my belly button and tighter skin at the bottom- having said that, I can still gather up excess skin on the lower abdomen also. When I sit I have rolls, when I stand it looks loose yet bulbous. Again, I wasn't expecting miracles and had I have had this body prior to surgery, I'd have thought 'oh well that's the body god blessed me with' but having paid a lot of money to look like this, I wish I hadn't bothered :-( I don't know if there is anything the surgeon can do or if I'd be entitled to a revision, so I'm posting this in the hope that someone out there will have gone through a similar experience and I'll know I'm not alone. I have Fleur de lis 6 weeks ago, although I am happy over all as I look loads better than I did, the whole reason for the Fleur de lis was to get rid of excess skin from under ribs as well as tummy area, yet under my ribs is still lots of flabby skin.. I see surgeon in 3 weeks, we will see what he says then.
I am 6 weeks post op. I had Fleur de les too, this was under advice from surgeon to get rid of flabby skin over ribs and get rid of large apron, although her has done a fantastic job overall. Very disappointed with the flabby skin on ribs still, if I wear a slim fitted top you can see it, so when I see surgeon in 3 weeks time I will be commenting on this.
I had fler de les in December, with thigh lift, i have seen the surgeon a few ties due to infections, i have also lots of skin on my rib cage and surgeon just commented, well I took lots away. wasn't really happy with his reply, my upper thighs look worse now that before, the scaring is awful too, seeing the surgeon again in Sept, lets see what he says then

After having my twins 13 years ago and my youngest four years ago and having gained approx 56lbs each time, my tummy was stretched beyond all recognition. As I breast fed all three my breasts looked like a couple of spaniels ears and my right breast was almost two cup sizes bigger than my left...............

Do you have any pics to share? How are you doing?
Hi Dreamgirls, I'm ok. How are you? I've posted 3 photos.
I agree. You are definitely entitled to a revision. Very sorry to hear this has happened but I believe you will get this resolved. Have perseverance and patience. Take care

Thank you for sharing your story on RealSelf. I can understand some of the good points and some of the disappointing parts about your results. Even though you can't afford a revision right now, I would suggest documenting your info, including opinions from several more Board Certified Plastic Surgeons and sharing them with your PS. Even if your PS agreed to a discounted revision, it would be a tough decision as to whether or not you would want him to do it. I agree, it doesn't seem right that your one breast is still visibly smaller. Do you know how many cc's you got in each breast? It is common to get different cc's in each breast to compensate for asymmetrical breasts. One other suggestion is to re-post your photos and question in the Doctor Q&A for some additional feedback. Persevere where and when you can! In the meantime, enjoy your new flatter tummy and perhaps some cute new bras!
