There were not review boards such as this when I had lipsuction 4 years ago. Please do not do lipo if you want to look good without clothes on...because your skin will be horrible after liposuction. The cannulas create scarring and your skin puckers and your skin with have peaks and valleys that you didn't have before. My procedure was on my thighs front and back, knees, tummy and saddle bags. I first had a procedue on my legs. I paid for the two separate procedures first (to get the "discount").

The procedure was like PURE HELL. It hurt, I was in significant pain throughout and it was like I was being tortured. No amount of local anesthesia was working. After, I went from a size 10 to a size 4. I was told over and over again that the puckering would go away and the dr continually dismissed my fears and focused on any positive comments I had, such as "well, I look better with clothes on." I wanted to back out of the tummy procedure, but they said I would forfeit the $ and I talked myself into believing it would go better.

Again, it initially looked OK. But now, it is the WORST looking part of the entire procedure. I NEVER look down during a shower now, the puckering and deformity is disturbing. Each time I begin to lose weight it looks worse than when I am filled out, I give up because I am so overwhelmed with the deformity.

Some other side effects that should be mentioned. After the second procedure, I had a terrible reaction at home. After removing the compression garment for a shower, my blood pressure dropped drastically. I laid down but the change in blood pressure caused me to have a bizarre brain reaction and I began to babble and jerk around. I was trying to talk to my husband but my mouth wouldn't form words correctly. I could form one or two words and would yell them to him, scared out of my mind that I had suffered a stroke or something. Upon calling the physician, he stated he had never heard of this before....as though I was pretending or something. Over a period of 40 minutes, my power of speech and control over my arms returned. I finally spoke the words, "I can speak now. I can tell you what I am thinking". My husband went through the worst moments of his life during that time, and I cannot express the saddness I felt watching him go through that. It turns out this is the reaction that happens with space travel and my family doctor knew exactly what had happened and was disgusted that the surgeon had acted as though this was so bizarre and had no answers for us. It was a blessing to be reassured that I had not suffered a stroke or something.

Scarring. Be prepared for scars that SCREAM liposuction. Forget wearing shorts. I am of average skin color and don't scar badly.

I used a prominent surgeon in California. Specifically, the Santa Maria, Orcutt area. If ANYONE would like to email me and ask his name, I will be MORE MORE than happy to share.

Someday, we hope to afford a revision. Even if we can afford it, I am not sure how I will ever find a physician I could trust.

Hi,
I was wondering where you had it done. I live north of Atlanta and have been looking into Purelipo. I am so sorry you had a bad experience with your provider.
Thanks,
GAgal

This was of interest to me. This is 2010 and I had PURELIPO done over 3 months ago. It hurt like hell also, so much that I was telling the doc to stop! He didn't. I am left with bumps and lumps and scars. I have a cluster of places that were so horrible for weeks that I looked like a had a flesh eating disease. They are a lot better now, but skin has scarred and keloid like. I paid extra for massage treatments too. Lot of good that did... :( Very unhappy with results. Of COURSE the doc says I will continue to improve.... but it's almost 4 months now. And those scars and discoloration all over my tummy, back and sides are not going away!!!

It can be so discouraging.. to the point where you just try not to look! Like what kind of plastic surgeon would honestly want us going out with the bad work he's done? Unethical!

I think the problems is they took too much fat out! Going from a 10 to a 4 is a lot removed. The goal is to take some of the fat but leave a layer for the skin to retract down on. I had stomache lipo, flanks and near bra area as well as a breast implant exchange cause one of mine had deflated. Day 1 I took all meds as scheduled and was moving around fine. Day 2 I went outside and sat in the sun a bit, still taking meds as scheduled. It was sore to get up off the couch or to get in and out of bed. Also when you remove the compression garmet. At one time I screamed as I took it off, but it just hurt for a moment than I got faint and laid on the bathroom floor. I think what you had was a I'm not sure the term but Vaso something response where your blood pressure drops quick. Probably from standing and removing the pressure of the garment. I was warned its common to faint when removing it to take a shower so I wasn't scared. Suprised your dr didn't warn you. Honestly, I thought it was going to hurt way worse. Virtually painless when following meds schedule, just sore. I am one week post op and just still tired.

No more! You can have a piece of chocolate.. but don't gain weight.. because you'll be back to where you started.. just go to the gym and exercise a lot.. walk. eat in moderation, Be happy you are smoothing out.. a lot don't.

When I reference space travel, I am speaking about the changes in pressure and the ill affects associated with space travel. Apparently, my family doc had seen this during some special work he did with the space program.
