I received a septoplasty in efforts to correct my horribly deviated septum as a result of 4 broken noses. I've played softball since I was 10 years old and my first broken nose happened because I collided with the right fielder in attempts to catch a high fly ball. Instead I collided with her knee cap and cleanly broke my nose at age 13. I had a re-brake and set performed to realign my nose although following that surgery I was donkey kicked in the face playing a game a twister. My nose didn't brake in a horrible way and pretty much stayed in line so we let it heal naturally. A couple years later I bonked heads with a good friend only her very hard forehead bonked into my very fragile nose and resulted in break #3 which we also let heal naturally. My senior year in high school, age 17, I coached the middle school softball team and decided to barehand a rolling foul ball. Just my luck it hit a rock and redirected straight into my face. Due to the past two breaks that I just let heal on their own, this was the final blow that really, and I mean really broke my nose. When I looked in the mirror, which may have been a mistake, I was shocked to see that my nose was no longer in the center or my face! This was not the shape or place I could allow it to just "heal on its own" so I had my second re-brake and set surgery performed.
After being incredibly accident prone in high school I made it through being a D1 collegiate softball pitcher without anymore broken noses, it was a miracle!! Ever since my first mishap I've had trouble breathing through my nose and you can imagine it only got worse and worse. so because my softball career is now over I decided to have my nose looked at. My doctor told me I had a horrible deviated septum and that a septoplasty would be the way to go.
I had the procedure done about a month and a half ago now and I am so glad I did. I can now breath through my nose at night and it is wonderful. Surprisingly my nose isn't all that crooked so I've decided against any further surgeries to fix the shape, but now that the inside is fixed I'm very happy.
Recovery was pretty quick about 3 full days of downtime and discomfort but I returned to work after 4 days and only suffered from not being able to blow my nose for a full week. If anyone is contemplating having this operation to ultimately breath better, do it, it is so worth it! :)

Wow, your poor nose has been through a lot. Glad you were able to get it fixed and that you're breathing better now. Thank you for sharing!
