I've had a consult and want the results, but I'm so terrified of the recovery and risk. My PS says its about like a c-section. I've had one of those and it wasn't a big deal. I didn't have to walk hunched over, I wasn't confined to a chair for days causing my backside to be sore. Someone on this site posted the pain was a level 10 and she wanted to stay over night in the hospital bc it was so bad. That scared me so much that I couldn't sleep for days and I get nauseated when I think of the surgery. So, for those of you who have done it, is it really tolerable and like a c-section like the dr said? My hubby thinks they aren't telling me the truth bc they just want me to do it. I've lost 40 lbs and had 2 kids so my tummy is now sagging and big and very uncomfortable to tuck in my pants. All I ever want to wear is loose sweats. Help!

I've had 3 c-sections and though it is very similar, there are differences. I wasn't in a lot of pain afterward, though I was dependent on my hubby for the first 4 or 5 days, then I was able to do things for myself. Like when you had the c-section, you learned what you can do and how to do things differently when you are determined! The recovery takes longer, but it could seem that way since you don't have that little one to take care of. This surgery is all about you! I am just over 3 months post op and I love my results and am so happy I did this! I also had BA, and I'm loving those too! LOL! I was scared to death before hand too and almost passed out right before the doctor marked me up, but I made it through and had an hour drive home right after surgery and still made it. I would do it again. I hope this helps. Everyone is different and everyone handles pain differently. I have a pretty high tolerance and with the pain meds, I didn't think it was so bad. Certainly tolerable.

I regret not doing it when I was younger. Recovery can be painful if you don't take your medicine and don't have someone to take care of you for a minimum of 3 days. The first week is rough but then there is a turning point. I'm pleased with my results so tired of the big belly stuffed in my clothes. For me it was definitely worth doing. I still have stretch marks and I have a wound that will leave a scar but I'm not a model, just wanted to stop fighting with the belly in the clothes.

1walkaholic Relax! You'll be fine, I really had very little pain after my tummy tuck last January. The worst problem I had was a headache from my pain meds. I then took too many Tylenol on an empty stomach and had nausea from that. I was told by someone at my PS office the same thing about the pain being a 10 out of 10 but truthfully for me it wasabout a 3 at most. Just stock up on stool softeners and get either a recliner or a wedge pillow seep system and you'll be just fine! I'm on old lady (53) and I know if I could do this well then anyone can!! Trust me, it's the best thing you could ever do for yourself.

1Walkaholic. I have been post op 9 days and the surgery is very different from a C-Section. You will get some pain from your lower back when you are walking hunched over. If you are getting Lipo and muscle repair, you will feel pain to that area as well. Are you going to be getting a Pain Pump to your abdomen? In order to control the pain, I would suggest asking your doctor for: 1. Pain pump 2. Pain Meds for every 4 hours 3. For the 1st 3 days, just get up to go to the bathroom and a little walk very 3-4 hours. 4. I suggest a Laxative other than a stool softener. 5. Make a batch of your favorite soup to last about 5days or so. Happy healing and recovery.

Thank you all you wonderful ladies for your help. I feel better already, but still get queasy when I think of that day ( even though its not even scheduled yet). For those that felt it wasn't that bad, did you have a pain pump? My PS says he is not a fan of them. He says they are about $350 and don't give you much more relief than reg meds. Also, did you all feel more comfortable in a recliner or bed with pillow wedge? We have a recliner, but it doesn't have an arm lift. You have to use your stomach muscles to move it. I was thinking of hanging out in ou sofa sleeper with pillow wedge and lots of pillows. It's much lower to the ground than my bed and easier to get out of. Also, did you all feel it was necessary to have showering chair or toilet chair? Why do you need to sit in shower, because your weak from pain meds or because its still hard to stand up? I'm only 5 feet and low enough to the toilet that I don't think I would need the seat thingy. I haven't made my final decision to do it yet, but really want to. I keep telling myself, if I can get through a week of brutal torture, I will be on the mend and have the rest of my life in more comfort. I'm very uncomfortable stuffing my gut unto my clothes. That is where most of my weight is. Let me know your thoughts. Your comments have helped me immensely to feel more calm.
