5 weeks post-op tomorrow. Pain is getting better, scars are healed and starting to lighten up nicely. Still seem to be a different size and/or shape every day. I'm sure if I'd just had an explant I would be back to normal everything by now, but the lift is making the healing process really drag out. But I'm still glad all the surgery is behind me - I'm sure I'd have had the lift done at some point, now I don't have to wonder or regret or plan for a future surgery. Good luck to all who are also healing and to those with upcoming surgeries!!

Okay, I'm feeling a bit more positive today.... 3 days since my last post and things are feeling and looking a bit better. However, I am now on Prednisone to reduce the inflammation and only wearing a bra about 6 hours per day. If I was still cooped up in that bra 24/7 with it pressing on my incisions I think I would be crazy by now. I still wish, however, that I'd waited to get the lift as so many ladies here have decided to do. But what is done is done, so no need to dwell on that! But I do not appreciate my doctor's cavalier attitude and would like to have a frank discussion about that at some point (like he would allow that!). Good luck to everyone considering an explant..... the one piece of advice I can offer is "do not rush things!!" There are a few ladies that have breezed thru this and been back to normal after a few days, but they are in the minority. In case your doctor (like mine!) hasn't told you, the full recovery time will be 6 months to a year because there are so many variables and everyone is different. xo

It has been 4 weeks today and I'm still having a considerable amount of pain. I saw my PS a week ago about a persistent and very intense pain in and under my right breast, and a potential allergic reaction around both nipples to either stitches or a scar gel he recommended. On both counts he wasn't much help. He said the pain is from the last stitch that was tied off and has hardened, so massage it and it will eventually dissolve. The inflamed area that appears to be an allergic reaction....he says he's never seen this before and doesn't know what it is so doesn't know how to resolve it. He said I can try anti-inflammatories and pain medications and see if that helps. End of session and out the door he went. He's an arrogant ass. I sure wish someone would figure out how we can get a "do-over" on decisions we make in life.....if so I would go back, have the explant without the lift and definitely go to another doctor! I'm not sorry I had the explant but I am sorry about everything else.

Wow, I feel Exactly the same way. I have no regret about explanting, but I sure wish I knew then, what I know now. I'm sorry you're going through this extended trial. I know how hard it is, I'm still struggling myself after 10 weeks. My Dr. has done the same thing. He looks like a deer in headlights when I ask him about the incisions leaking and red and irritated and painful... Thank you for updating though, I really appreciate hearing about things like this. I hope things get better for you! xo
I read through your story and now feel very foolish for complaining. I am so sorry you've had to deal with so many problems when all was going so good early on. Don't beat yourself up over what the dr said about you overdoing it and maybe causing this. They, like everyone, want to blame it on everything except themselves. If this situation does not end very soon you might want to get a second opinion. Your insurance might be more apt to pay if two doctors are in agreement on your care also. My prayers are with you. Please continue to update us! Your story is good information for those wondering about their own care as well as those planning to do explant. ((hugs))
Oh I'm so sorry you are having a shitty time. Your boobs look fab but I understand the allergic reaction can't be nice, nor the lack of empathy from your ps and his team. Will an anti histamine help? I found they did with me. We go through a great many problems with these blasted implants and getting them removed. I often wonder if I only explanted and didn't lift whether I would've suffered with the horrific abscess I developed.
But I know I would not be happy with explant alone.
Tomorrow is a new day. See how things feel then. Hugs. Xx
I tried an anti histamine and it helped me sleep but did nothing for the problem. I am now taking prednisone to see if it will help things out and should see a difference in 2 or 3 days IF it is going to help at all. I had the pred left over from another problem last summer and hate to medicate myself without a doctors order, but when your dr pretty much washes his hands of you, what's a person to do? How is your abscess now? I sure hope it's a thing of the past and that you're doing much better now! xo
I got discharged from breast clinic outpatients on Friday. There was a tiny amount of fluid left the size of a penny which should just go with rest of anti biotics. That breast is still very tender, having had six needles in to aspirate though I'm not surprised. I hope those meds work out for you, will be keeping my fingers crossed. Could you see your regular doctor for advice? Mine was amazing in diagnosing the abscess and sending me straight for treatment.
I go to see ps tomorrow and am not looking forward to it. Angered that they knew I had an abscess confirmed and was beginning treatment but no follow up from them to see how I was etc. if this was my first experience with him I wouldn't be having anymore procedures. He has changed. I feel like he's had my money now and that's it. Bog standard follow up and tough that I don't conform to their usual pattern of recovery. Hey ho!! Those awful plants are out and that is the main thing. All my physical symptoms that I just knew we're linked to them have gone and I feel much less burdened - the compliments I'm getting help too!! Everyone just thinks I've lost a stack of weight (which I have too)!
Do let us know how things progress. X
I'm glad to hear things are looking up for you at long last and that you're seeing improvement in your general health! I'm sure your breast will be quite tender for a while longer after what you've been through. Do you have a comfy bra? I have an appointment with my regular doctor next week and the pred program I'm on is for 6 days, so if it doesn't work maybe he can suggest another approach. Let us know how your PS appointment goes tomorrow! xo
So sorry to hear about your latest issues!! I think most plastic surgeons really don't want to deal with the likes of us because they are in the business to beautify and enhance--we are basically taking away that power from them... It's all about bigger, better, younger, tighter--at whatever cost....ha! No wonder they don't want us in their offices for too long we are going smaller, healthier, age appropriate and realistic!!! Cheers to us!!! Anyway, back to you :) Be careful with the prednisone--that's a tricky drug. If it's an allergic reaction how about something simple like benadryl? That might calm things down and help with the discomfort a bit. I am 5 weeks out tomorrow and I still have some healing to do with the incision under my nips but mostly it's healed. My nipples have healed beautifully--they were my worst worry!! I wouldn't say that the "lollipop stick" scars are the prettiest but my PS said he would clean those up (no charge) after I was all healed up. We'll see--I am not too anxious to have anymore done. I am SO glad I did my lift with the explant because it would never have happened otherwise!! I am done with these girls and they are done with me ;) Keep healing Sweets!!
You are right about most ps's being in the business to enhance. Can't they see this is an enhancement too? It's all about what you're ready for in your life. 26 years ago I was ready for big boobs and I had a lot of fun with them and have some very flattering holiday photo's (in clothing) to remember them by. However, I'm glad I did this and will be going back to a more age appropriate figure. Thank you for your support and caring input. :) xo
