Invisalign Comes with Responsibilities

ORIGINAL POST

I am about halfway through my Invisalign treatment...

WORTH IT$4,500

I am about halfway through my Invisalign treatment and so far I am content with the results. I considered having regular braces, but my father found that Invisalign was slightly cheaper. Now this only applies to my dental place, prices differ. In addition to that, my insurance only covered below the age of 18. So I made the decision to go right ahead since I am 16. Usually it takes about a year and a half. Those of you who are around that age might want to make a choice. Before this, my Dad had offered me to get braces, but I had refused, merely because I hated the look of metal brackets. But as I got older, I got more and more self conscious of my teeth. My teeth are not severely crooked, but my front teeth projected at an odd angle that really bothered me. This is where Invisalign comes to place. From my personal experience, I hope you can decipher your dental plans in the future.
If you have thought about Invisalign, you might want to consider these questions. Do you have the discipline to cope with your eating habits? Are you willing to brush your teeth after every meal? It sounds a lot more work and effort than it looks. Before I entered the treatment, I did not have any sort of cavities. And now, I am forming two at the back and have to get them filled in. So with that said, more money will have to be put in if your not dedicated. It depends on if your willing to take on the commitment. What I mean is if you lose more than 2 hours of wearing the trays, you will lose a full day. Also, you will want to clean your trays at least once a week. The reasons are that the residue left on your teeth will stick to the trays. The more you leave them on there, the deposits will begin to grow. This is why cleaning your trays would be essential. This could be avoided by BRUSHING your teeth consistently. This way you don’t have to clean your trays daily. Also, you will have to visit the orthodontist every 2 weeks to receive new trays. Little tabs are also glued into your teeth to help further the movement. I find this to be really annoying. Since it makes it harder for the trays to be removed. The tabs fall off very easily. You will have to get them redone if they do.
But the hard work will lead to good results. I see much improvement, it has been about 5 months. My front teeth are pulled into the correct place and my bottom teeth are aligned perfectly. You are also able to take them off and clean your teeth thoroughly. The trays are barely visible, great for taking pictures. If you are worried about your look and I mean do not, seriously do not want the look of metal brackets and would take on the responsibilities, then by all means, invest in Invisalign. Other than that, I can’t find any reasons to get Invisalign. I am doing this because I only need a few adjustments, and the offer was good. As far as pain, the first week for me was horrible. It hurt like hell (just take medicine, it will lessen it). But really they don’t hurt, unless I have to put on a new tray. It all depends on your teeth. I think if you have minor adjustments; I would choose Invisalign. The only thing that really bothers me right now are my cavities, and that is solely my own fault. So with a lot of brushing and flossing, I do not see any major problems but mainly discomforts and annoyance. If I was asked if I would use braces instead, I actually would say no. Because all it takes is discipline and getting into the habit. I really like it because the results really do outweigh the cons. So if you find a minor flaw with your teeth; I encourage you to use Invisalign. It will perfect your smile.
