I was not a big girl ever but after two babies I just could not get rid of the bulge no matter what I tried. I was 5'5 140 lbs when I decided that I had enough of this. I researched the heck out of everything and decided I'm gonna get a Tummy Tuck! I did interviews with three different Doctors. I had estimates as well. I asked tons of questions. But... here is what you girls really need to know ahead of time.
1. This surgery will kick your ___! I am not kidding.
2. You will need no less than 3 weeks off work unless you are superhuman!
3. You need a stool of some sort for when you shower.
4. Necklaces that are long come in handy to keep your drains on while you shower lol.
5. Keep an eye out for seromas and stay on top of them if you get one.
6. A lift recliner will save you a lot of trouble RENT ONE!
7. Don't be surprised if you suffer from pain, nausea, vomiting, back spasms, heartburn, constipation, and interrupted sleep for 2 weeks lol.
8. You literally can not stand straight up for 2 weeks.
9. If you have a full garment suit with a hole in the crotch take my advice pee in a cup! Otherwise you will be peeing on your outfit lol!
10. If you have a large cup size the binder outfits with the bras in them will not fit! Order one without bra and wear a bra over top.
This is what I did to myself.
Full Tummy Tuck with lipo of flanks, back, belly and inner thighs. Oh and a little boost added to butt. My Tummy Tuck was a High Lateral Tension Abdominoplasty Ladies.
Day 1 PO
I am in the Hospital overnight this was to be expected for my case. I looked fabulous but OMG the Pain!! The sleeplessness. The lazy nurses. The very worst about this day was getting in the car! I thought I was going to die! And then the long ride home!
Day 2 PO
I am so weak and fragile I have been reduced to a vegetable for real. Just breathing is a chore. I have a bit of flem and cough irritation from the breather thing down my throat during surgery. To cough hurts like hell. I experienced shortness of breath. And extreme internal pressure.
Day 3 PO
Someone kill me now. It hurts.. it hurts... it hurts. Slept mostly no interest in food.
Day 4 PO
My hair OMG is so greasy it is a fire Hazard! I itch all over. PS says no shower! Miserable. Trying to figure out how to go pee without peeing on my garment is insane! Just walking 15 feet to the bathroom takes my breath away! And GRRR these drains 3 of them hanging out my pubic hair line not fun! Oh and I have developed a huge seroma on my back. It looks like I have an extra but cheek above my butt!!
Day 5 PO
I have a Dr appointment today. Getting in the car was horrible. Walking awful. Girls this is when you say to yourself why the hell did I do this to myself. Hang in there it gets better! I have a huge seroma Dr aspirates it. It came back in mere hours. Dr says ok you can shower no baths though. I was not prepared for this part. My hubby had to rig a small step ladder with a towel over it for me to shower. I simply can not stand for more than 5 min. He had to wash where I could not reach. Bending , twisting and reaching at this point is a big NO NO. If you try it you will pay! OUCH!!
Day 6 PO
I'm am so sick of being stuck in this chair! But I can not stand for more than a couple of min. My appetite has shrank to half of what it was. It just will not fit. Heartburn... Heartburn ... Heartburn!
Days PO all a blur lol
I have been aspirated 3 times for my seroma it always returns so now I get a catheter drain put in my back. Wow this really helps I am putting out fluid like nobodies business! I get some pressure relief from this and I am grateful. I have almost all of my stitches taken out at this point except like 3 around my belly button, and the knots on both ends on my incision.
Day 14 PO
My flanks are still retarded swollen. My back still constantly in pain and spasms. I have vomited today and have terrible heartburn. Thank God the antibiotics that have made me vomit multiple times this week are almost gone. My incisions look good and are almost sealed all the way. My butt feels as though I could get bed sores at this point. I can't wait till I have the energy to get up and around more. At this point I can make it to the kitchen for dinner, and to the bathroom multiple times, let out the dog once or twice and that is it folks! This small amount is just plain exhausting! IKR who would have knew this would really be this hard! But my stomach is crazy flat! And when this swelling goes away I will be HOT HOT HOT!!
I will update you all soon!

I am still hurting Dang it!! And well I am still rather swollen. I do get around a lot better now. I am still waiting to see the full results of my surgery. I am starting to get a glimpse of what I will look like and I like it. I am ready to burn this dog gone torture devise they call a compression garment. Even if it did cost me 200 dollars. I would love to see it go up in flames! Hang in there ladies I am surely trying to. My wounds are pretty much all the way sealed. I am waiting to get the anchor stitches out soon.
Oh and ladies if you want your scar to be low. Ask...

Well I am feeling much better. I am still a bit sore. I still swell up when I am very active. Things are still healing up but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Eventually I will fix my tattoo and think of a cool tattoo to cover the tummy tuck scar.
People with sensitive skin watch out for...

Welcome to RealSelf and thank you for the awesome review and updates.
Hi, I paid cash excluding Doc fees and they were separate-hospital and anesthesiologist. The last thing I remember before going under was the anesthesiologist cologne.
The HLT is serious business but the results are wonderful for giving you that hour glass figure and thin scar.
1. He thinks it is a waste of money for me to stay overnight. So I am going home same day and will have the procedure at the surgical center located at 106th and Meridian.
2. I have gained some weight since my original consult with him and he now thinks I may need lipo on flanks...however with me having two bodies (figure and offseason) we both know that I can get the fat off my flanks...when I need too (show time). So I am actually going to try to lean out a bit and see him again on Oct 10th to make a final decision on adding the lipo or going with just the HLT which is originally what was planned.
3. Did you rent a recliner? He suggested actually a lift recliner...they are remote controlled to raise you and lower you, plus all of the benefits of a recliner.
Yes, I rented the lift chair. I initially wanted a hospital bed, but the lift chair has been fine.
You make the final decision about the hospital over night. If you have no complications and they are able to manage your pain levels, its no big deal. The hospital stay was only about $500 extra, and my 75 y/o mom was my nurse. She was able to observe the nurses, ask questions, and get a real insight about my care. I was there for more like a day and a half and it gave me and my mom's more confidence to be there at the hospital if something went wrong. Overly cautious maybe.
Ok...lift chair...please tell me the company you rented it from? I saw that rentacenter has one...but I have never rented furniture in my life and don't know who to go with.
Ok,
I rented from AHHE. The chair was 96.30 total.
