3 days post op and feeling good about the new look...

3 days post op and feeling good about the new look. Sure, I am still feeling a little blue from the pain, but I know it will all be worth it in the end. I've waited to have this done for 12 years and SO excited to finally have it all done!!! Brighter days are ahead! I can't wait to see my final results. So much I can say, I could write a book!!! I had been to many, many Doctors for consultations and was even going to go to Mexico, because I loved the cuts the Doctor made and the price! However, when it came time to book a flight, my husband was against it. He felt I needed someone nearby to be able to have after care if any complications should arise. So, I decided to continue my search for the right surgeon. It wasn't until I called and told my cousin how frustrated I was on my search. I had not even thought about asking her who her plastic surgeon was for her breast, even knowing how awesome of a job the surgeon did that she went to. She then told me, "Hey, go try mine, you will LOVE him! I even have another friend that went to him and is very pleased." So, I call and I book an appointment. I called the- and let me just say, the most AWESOME patient coordinator, and begged her to get in sooner, as I really needed this done within the next couple weeks before school started back & life becomes a crazy rush that can't have down time. Sherri was able to fit me in THAT day!! Out of all the Doctors I had seen, I had an instant bond with Doctor Smith. I normally don't sweat- even when working out hard, but each Doctor I went to, I would sweat while they were looking at me. didn't even break a sweat with Dr. Smith..... Instead I shed some tears and shared my deepest hurt with him. One thing I also noticed, he knows that woman are uncomfortable coming in and keeps you wrapped up in a robe and only opens to the particular area you're talking about at that moment. Not liking my body and hating to even share it with my husband, that was a huge comfort. I walked right out of his office knowing he was the Doctor for me! I didn't need time to think or sleep on it. The days leading up to surgery were super scary! Towards the end, I decided to have my breast done as well and have only one healing/downtime. Mrs. Sherri called to tell me I need to go to a blood bank... That really concerned me!!! What are you saying??? You think I may need a transfusion!?!? No!! Not the case!!! For this large procedure, Dr. Smith has his patients go have their blood saved to give a transfusion after the surgery because it promotes a healthier/faster healing!!! Score!!! None of the others I had been to said anything about that! I thought that was an extra care step brownie point for Dr. Smith! Then, he was the only one that I came across who keeps you in the hospital for 2 nights!! Another brownie point scored!!! Those two things alone are huge to me and are above and beyond! Let's talk a little more about why I love Dr. Smith.... So, the problem I was having was I knew what I wanted and how I wanted and was tired of being told you don't need that, or you need that or this is what you should do! I KNEW I wanted saline for the fact they can be filled and adjusted on the table, as one of my breast was a little larger than the other. Secondly, I feel they are safer. Yes, I know silicone has come a long way... But I like the idea of salt water in my body and instantly knowing about it, rather than waiting until I need an MRI. This was just my opinion and had a couple tell me they like to work with silicone more and that would be best for me. It's NOT what I wanted and Dr. Smith didn't change my mind- he listened to what I wanted. Another huge issue I had was the cut across the back. I didn't want high cuts and was terrified of having them! After living in a ugly body for so long, I would really like to feel pretty and even though there's a scar.. there's one that could be covered by a pair of panties. Dr. Smith assured me it would be low and go ahead and bring some low cut panties in on the day of surgery for the marking. Guess what????? I have LoW cuts!!! Even lower than I expected and can't wait to see the final healed piece of work. During my preop things were all the sudden real and I was shaken, all it took was talking to Mrs. Sherri and Dr. Smith & it was an instant comfort again- at that point I was ready again! Come the morning of surgery I was shaken again! All until Dr. Smith walked in with his team of 5 people that would be in the operating room with me!!! That was SUCH a comfort going into an 8 hour surgery!!! A residency Doctor was involved as well, and as many times as Dr. Smith came by to check on me afterwards, the residency doctor did as well!! In my husbands line of work, perfection is everything! The day after surgery when the bandages came off, my husband was amazed at how precisely the cuts were! Very, very clean lines and for my husband to compliment like that- that's a HUGE thing! I am really happy with so much! Let's just say... The literally "hurts" that I had- he took away!! Thank you Dr. Smith and all of your staff for the amazing miracle you performed on me- At three days out, I am still hurting but smile when I pass by a mirror!! I will continue to update. Day 4: I've finally found a comfortable spot that I'm living in. A boopy pillow is a must!!! My husband had to run to the store for one! My drains are draining like crazy, so I don't see them coming out right away. I have a tingling/numb feeling across my back cuts- but have read that's a good sign of healing. It's not a painful feeling- just an aunts in your pants kinda feeling. Today I also feel like a massive workout of my entire life was done- but much better than feeling throbbing pain. Prior to surgery I made lots of food and placed my daily meals in freezer bags- enough for 14 days of healing foods. Today will be my first day on my full meal plan packed with protein and fiber- as I knew I would get constipated because that seems to be my life without surgery. My favorite is a power smoothie I made that is high in fiber and protein to help in both areas. Did you know, studies show pineapple actually help with swelling??? I am packing my day with pineapple, turmeric, lots of fluid and a glass of cranberry juice to keep the bladder well. Also, a glass of fresh lemon squeezed water to help detox. Until next update... Happy healing!!
