My Goal is the Removal of my Breast Implants of 40 Years, and Replace Them with a Smaller Size - Honolulu, HI
It's Never Too Late!
I was twenty-three when I had breast augmentation, and as it turned out it was the biggest mistake of my life. I had the surgery in 1975 in Chicago Illinois when doctors knew little about breast implant removal. My husband and I made numerous unsuccessful attempts throughout the years to find a doctor who we felt could safely remove the implants and reconstruct as necessary, but it wasn't until our consultation with Dr. Schlesinger that we finally found a doctor with the knowledge, the expertise, and the confidence that we were looking for in a doctor.
After the consultation we scheduled a date for the surgery. On the day of the surgery we checked into the surgical center and shortly thereafter we met Mr. Curt Carson the anesthesiologist. He is a very intelligent young man, and his demeanor is very kind, warm and caring. He made me feel comfortable and safe.
Dr. Schlesinger removed the 39 year old breast implants (which were found to be leaking), and he did a reduction/lift, and he inserted new smaller implants (250cc) under the muscle. In addition to the breast surgery he did a tummy tuck, and liposuction of the upper back. And I am very pleased with the results. For the first time in 39 years when I look in the mirror I like what I see.
After the surgery I spent the night in recovery at the surgical center with round the clock care by Dr. Schlesinger's nursing staff and I was released the following morning. We didn't have to worry about anything after the surgery. The office visits were frequent with Dr. Schlesinger monitoring my recovery, and if I had any questions or concerns in between office visits his staff, Jennifer and Jenna were always very helpful and pleasant to talk to.
My husband and I highly recommend Dr. Schlesinger to anyone considering plastic surgery. He not only is an expert in his field but he is passionate about his work, forth coming, and he and his staff are a pleasure to do business with!

Within a few years of getting breast implants I...
Within a few years of getting breast implants I regretted having the surgery. The left breast is and always has been taught and painful during intimacy. I have to "protect" it from compression and movement.
I have had the implants for 40 years and within that time frame I spoke to a couple of doctors about their removal however, neither doctor could help me. Removing and replacing breast implants in the 1970's & the 80's was not common so I found myself trapped. Not only do the implants cause me physical pain and discomfort, but I am profoundly embarressed by them. I dress to minimize their presence. I would love to be freed of this great burden.

Thanks for starting your story on RealSelf. Do you have a consultation set up with Dr. S. yet? I hope he can help you reach your goal of smaller, more comfortable implants. Please keep us posted throughout your journey!
