Feeling blessed after a frightening setback
WORTH IT$10,000
Hello all, sorry for not updating since last week, I had a setback on Friday morning after my drains were removed. In a nutshell I suffered an arterial bleed which caused my blood pressure to plummet to ridiculously low figures and my body to shut down. Luckily for me my surgeon and two anaesthetists were with me immediately and I was raced into theatre to be opened up a second time so they could stop the bleeding.
I'm told I lost almost 2 litres of blood but had a transfusion of 6 bags and will be on iron tablets for the next couple of months.
Feeling blessed to be alive and going to enjoy life more than I ever have.
On the plus side I got to see my little waist today for the first time and my new BB, I'm super pleased with how it looks and can't wait to get out of hospital so I can try on my new clothes.
Thank you for all the messages I've received, even though I've never met any of you in rl, I feel like I've known some of you forever Xx

It's done - I'm on the other side!
Hello all,
I had my surgery just after lunchtime yesterday. Dr Dojitra came in to mark me up and introduced me to the anaesthetist a lovely Scottish gentleman. The last thing I remember him telling me was that the fluid he was putting into me was cold as ice cream, followed by do you like ice cream? I woke several hours later in my hospital room which is incidentally super comfortable.
I was attached to a morphine drip which had a self regulator on it. Unfortunately the nurse last night wasn't the kindest of people and didn't tell me this. Lucky for me I didn't need it so was fine without it. They removed the morphine drip ths morning which is great as its easier to get to the toilet. I'm now on painkiller tablets and antibiotics.
Dr Sojitra just came in to see me and told me he took 6lb of skin off! Wow was my first response followed by did I have a vertical scar? He replied no so hooray :-)
I'm really struggling to eat which is unfortunate as I was absolutely starving before I went under. The staff here have been kind enough to bring me sorbet and melon which are the only foods that don't make me feel nauseous.
I'm putting some pics of of before and after surgery. Unfortunately I haven't had a peek of my actual scar yet as I'm all bandaged up under my binder but will hopefully have one tomorrow.
Thank you fr all your kind words Xx

Glad to hear you are well. You look lovely and flat. Went for two week check this morning and all fine. No more cover of scaring. All clean and healing nicely. Don't need to go next week unless I feel there is a prob. Are you home tomorrow? Keep feet up enjoy xx
Pleased to hear you're healing we'll hon, yes I'm home tomorrow which I'm looking forward to. Did you need to wee lots after surgery? I'm literally going every hour and a half since I came round after surgery and its driving me nuts Xx
Yes I did wee loads and still do. But still drink lots of water it's helps with swelling. I just emailed my surgeon to ask about lymphatic drainage massage heard this helps with swelling, going to see what he says. My bb looks slightly of centre but the nurse said its because of the swelling. Still can't get into any of my pre op jeans or linen pants. Strange!!!! Hope that's normal as still weigh the same. Keep taking meds for first 3/4 days as these are the worst days after that fine. Xx
Ah that's reassuring to hear I'm not the only one weeing lots. I hope your belly button and swelling settles down, it's always so tricky when you want to see immediate results but your body has a mind of its own. The extra weight is most probably all the swelling and water retention, bet you'll end up all svelte and sexy by 6 weeks which seems o be the magic number I keep hearing. Yes will definitely keep taking the meds, better to keep on top of them than suffer.
I'm getting excited now as hubby is bringing the kids over at 7 - I've missed them terribly Xx
Enjoy and keep us posted xx
Will do hon xx
Happy healing :)
Thank you Butterchocolate Xx

1 day pre
Less than 24 hours to go, I've just packed my bag...
And enjoyed my last work out at the gym, not sure how I'm going to cope with 6 weeks without exercise.
Decided against having any polish on my fingers but have had Bio Sculpture's Funky Fuschia on my toes and they look pretty, at least I'll have them to look at when the rest of me is black and blue!
My mother in law arrived yesterday for 2 weeks, the children adore her and she's a fabulous cook so I'm happier about leaving my children for two days.
Going to pop to the newsagent tomorrow morning and grab a load of magazines to read over the next two days in hospital.
Will try and get the surgeon to take some pics of me on my phone of me all marked up pre surgery and post before I go in

Good luck Hun it will be worth it I promise..... Wet wipes were really handy in hospital, as were magazines can't wait to see your pictures, you have inspired me to write down my story just have to have the courage to put the before photos on hehe xxxxx
Thank you Keldon, funnily enough I've packed wet wipes and loads of anti bac hand gel. Going to see if hubby will bring some new mags in on Thursday too just in case there are pics of the Wills and Kate's little prince in them -no doubt hello or ok will do a royal special and I don't want to miss out (sad but true I'm a royalist).
Yes yes please do write your story down, would love to see your before and after pics Xx
Good luck. Stay strong and happy. [RS bleep]
Thank you sweetie x
I'm coming up to two weeks po now and feel ok. It's tough first few nights but after that it is more uncomfortable than pain. Keep looking at my tummy and smiling but now have gone into the swelling stage. I am in the corset for six weeks as my consultant is in UK and stills uses them. Great in this heat!!! You will be fine. Make sure you take bowel prep as tablets do course probs with movement.!!!!!! Keep us posted. Xx
Well done on making it this far hon, my consultant is exactly the same in so much as he tells his patients to wear a binder day and night for 6 weeks and removes drains prior to discharge from Spire.
What is bowel prep hon? I've had a couple of colonics over the last week so am hoping that will help. I've also got some fig syrup which I'll start taking today Xx
I kept taking bowel softeners before the op to try to keep me regular. Did not go for seven days, it was worst than the op itself. All ok now. I also had a small vertical scar up to my bb to bring my waist in more and get rid of more skin. At first I was really worried but it looks very neat and thin thank god. Also had MR and lipo but none on hips as he said not enough fat there. Must have been all on tummy!! Seems to be looking good but swelling is a pain can't get into any of my jeans at the moment, but they say don't worry I will be able to when swelling goes down. Weight still 9st.7 pounds as before so no change there as yet. [RS bleep]
