New Compression Garment

$6,500
I got a new compression garment today in the mail and it is so much more comfortable and it feels like I've got a lot more support than my binder.

I found the binder to be hard to wear with having a short torso. It came all the way up to under my breast, and then I could pull it down to my hips. But when I moved much at all it would ride up and hit at my incision, ouch. So I think this will be much better.

It's got the open crouch for easy toilet access too. I have one more for a different company that should arrive on Tuesday, so hopefully between the 2 of them I will be set for the next couple months or longer while I need to wear something.

Dr. Chris Taylor

My first impressions are great. The doctor has great people skills and is very confident in his works which makes me comfortable. He says he can see the great results he is going to achieve, which excites me :) I will have his and his assistant's cell numbers for any problems. His building is gorgeous with state of the art equipment. http://www.taylorsurgicalarts.com/

I too have had problems with the cg provided by my PS, it bunches up on the sides and is already as high as it will go under my breasts. As far as your back, the recliner is what was killing mine so I switched to my bed completely on night 5. I did two naps in it the two days before with lots of pillows before trying it all night and I did put two pillows under my legs. My back feels soooo much better and I'm now standing upright 100 percent. (My surgery was 6/27) Looking forward to following the rest of your journey, happy healing :)
Good for you! A good compression garment can make all the difference. I too have ordered a '2nd stage' compression garment from a medical supply company. Thursday marks week 4 for me. Whenever I remove my compression garment for more than an hour or so, my legs become very painful & soon my abdominal area joins in. The full recovery from this type of surgery can take the greater part of a year! My thighs are still numb & my lower abdomen feels like wood. I don't know if others can relate to this but I tire much more easily than pre-op. Perhaps having 3L of fat sucked out + a mini tummy tuck is a sudden taxing change for the body to adjust to. Either way, it has taken a lot out of me (besides what the Dr. removed!)

Belly Button help?

Okay, my belly button is yucky! It's full of gooky dried blood and stuff. I pored half peroxide and water in it yesterday and tried to clean it, but it still is yucky and feels weird? I looked at my after care info and don't have anything about what to do with my belly button?

Also am I supposed to put something on my incision? I've been just washing with Dial, but it starts to feel tight.

Ack! Makes me feel like I should have asked more questions! I can't believe I have nothing about what to do with this.

Looking forward to seeing your results. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Regarding your BB peroxide actually is not a great thing to use as it dries up the area and doesn't allow good moist healing...which is what our incision need. The best thing to use is some antibacterial (polysporin) ointment on and in it and then a non adhesive bandage over top just to protect your clothes from the grease of the ointment. Also do the same on your incision changing the bandages once or twice per day if needed. It will save you from any infections and keep your incision moist which will help your stitches dissolve and not stick, if they are the ones that need to be removed. Dr. Wolf at your service ;-)
Thanks for the info. I'm going to put neosporin on it and cover it with gauze. I actually have no bandages on my incision? We removed it Saturday as instructed, but put nothing on top.? I had a follow up on Monday when they removed my drains and pain pump and they didn't put anything on either.
When I had my tubes tied I was not instructed to do anything with my BB and I got an infection. I swore I would not let that happen this time. I went through 8-9 tubes of polysporin lol. Make sure you use non adhesive "gauze" so it doesn't stick. The non adhesive stuff can't stick to any incision, so when the polysporin is all absorbed the dressing doesn't get all stuck and then when you go to change it you pull off the scab...ouch.
Any wounds that are still healing I loaded it with polysporin and just covered with the non adhesive...I was scared to get infections so I was super careful...maybe too careful lol
I'm at 3 weeks today & I've been using the anti-bacterial ointment on the incision line as well. It had the added benefit of making it less sensitive. After the 2nd week, as the nerves regenerated, the numbness lessened & the incision line became more sensitive. The ointment really made a difference. My abdominal area still feels strangely like wood, but the new contours are showing as the swelling lessens weekly & I hope you'll be as happy with your results as I am. I tried on my tiny bikini bottom to see whether it hides the incision & it does. Is there something that can be applied to minimize scarring at this stage?
Thank you!! I'm going to start doing the anti-bacteria ointment on my incision. I started using it yesterday on my belly button and thought it looked better today.
The polysporin/neosporin type ointment should really help the incision around your navel to feel less stiff: it really did wonders for the incision along my lower abdomen. I found that the pain from the lipo was far worse than that from the mini tummy tuck by far! It's still sore after 3 weeks but OTC pain meds are enough to relieve it at this stage. The type of surgery we had is not for the feint-hearted & it certainly is not an 'easy' or quick fix! The recovery is lengthy & there are many instructions that must be followed to the letter. Wearing a compression garment 24/7 requires a lot of discipline too: can't wait to discard mine for good! Hang in there, Kmom: hopefully the time will fly by.
Thank you for the advice!! I agree my lipo pain is for sure worse! I just got a new compression garment in the mail and it's so much more comfortable than my binder. It's also has a lot more compression which I hope helps.

More

So the pain medication alone didn't quite cut it, I was given percecet to take. After clearing it with my doctor I added on Motrin 800 and that helped so much!!

The first 3 days after were so hard! I took my pain pills around the clock with an alarm set to stay on top of everything. I was sent home with a walker to borrow for a week and I'm telling you that thing was amazing!! I didn't think I would need one, but I missed it so much when I had to give it back. If I had to do it again, I would have purchased one myself. I went ahead and ordered a cane to use after returning the walker and it's been extremely helpful.

I did not have a bm for 6 days, it was so painful also! Stay on top of your stool softners for sure. I also bought some fleet suppositories just in case.

I'm still walking bent over, am kinda afraid to start straightening up anytime soon, even though my back is killing me! Am looking forward to sleeping in my bed, but think I'll stay in my recliner for another week.

I've had no problems with not having a toilet riser, but I'm short at only 5'1"
