1 month update

I can't believe it's already been one month since my surgery-- although at some times the month did seem to drag by. Week three wasn't much different from week two: I still had a lot of swelling and felt unsure about my results. But week four has brought significant improvements. I no longer feel like my nose looks wider than before-- at least the majority of it-- and I'm really happy with the progress so far. Two things I still hope will improve: 1) I'm hoping the bridge will come down some, and 2) I would like the tip to refine some more. Sometimes it looks really flat (I'm not sure you can tell in a picture, but I notice it). However, that said, when I compare my before and after pictures, I think it looks so much better now that it did before, so I really can't complain. The waiting process has been really tough. Even though I knew before hand that it takes a long time for true results to show, it was still hard to be patient. I kept panicking and thinking that it was going to stay funny looking (so for anyone in that position now, don't worry.. it WILL go down). Right now I have bad and good swelling days. If I eat poorly or drink wine my nose swells up like a balloon the next day. So I guess that's added incentive to eat well. As for the rest of my face: I've noticed that the swelling in my upper lip has gone down some. My top lip looks fuller than it did before, although still not as full as it did pre-op. I can smile about half way, but I still look really strange and cartoon-ish. I'm ready for that to go away. I also still have a lot of swelling in my left eye. I can still feel this hard mass that is often visible, and very tender to the touch. Some days this is worse than others, but it never goes away, and when it's bad it really distorts the shape of my eye. I'm a bit worried about this-- that maybe it's scar tissue or something. I am going in for my follow-up visit a week from Saturday, so if this is still an issue I will ask the doctor about it. My breathing has also improved a lot this week. It was still really difficult to breath through my nose for the first few weeks (something I forgot to mention last time). But I'm not really sure if it's better or worse than before at this point-- I'm having a lot of allergy issues right now so I think that's adding to the problem. I guess that's all for now. Thank you everyone for your encouragement and feedback! Pictures are attached.

2 Week Update

First of all, thank you everyone for your kind words and support! It's been two weeks since my surgery so I thought I would give an update. The last week has been pretty tough. I've had sooo much swelling, especially on the left side of my face. There's this hard bump on the inner corner of my left eye that distorts my eye shape and makes my eyes look like their two different sizes. The swelling just below my nose pushes my upper lip down and sometimes makes it looks almost non-existent. And my nose is still very swollen as well (I hope). The swelling seems to vary throughout the day. Sometimes my nose looks presentable and other times its huge. The swelling is not even either, so my nose often looks bumpy and weird. Basically, I look like something Picasso would have made, which is kind of depressing. So I've been avoiding mirrors and trying my best to be patient.. but its really hard to do.
Right now, I think my profile looks much, much better than it did before. However, from the front view, my nose looks wider than it did pre-op, and I've actually had other people tell me that as well.
I'm still keeping my head elevated at night, taping my nose when possible, and trying to avoid salty foods. But for now, I guess its just a waiting game. I'll keep you all posted.
