Cankles No More - Fredericksburg, VA

I unfortunately have inherited my maternal grandmother's thick legs, better known as "Cankles" or "Elephant legs" which means I have no tapering from my knee to my ankle due to fat accumulation. I had consulted with a my PCP about the issue because the older I got, the worse they got. I was told it was hereditary and I would have to live with it. I am a very active 53 year old that works out 5 days a week and has a normal BMI. There are no exercises or diet that can impact this area of the body. I was determined I was not going to be one of those elderly ladies that park in the handicap spot and walk with a claw cane. There had to be a solution. After months of research I discovered that some people were having great results from liposuction but most plastic surgeon's will not perform the procedure on this area of the body (I'll let them explain why). I have seen Dr. Heppe for other services and decided to talk to him about the procedure. Even though it has only been two weeks, it has been a life changing decision that I will never regret. He actually removed a combined total of 5lbs of fat!! The results were instantaneous (you now can see the muscles in my calves). For the first time in 20 years, I am looking forward to wearing clothing that shows my legs, getting a pedicure without being embarrassed or even something as simple as wear rain boots. I saw an elderly lady last week, that unfortunately has this issue and I began to cry as I watched her walk across with parking lot with her cane. At that moment, I realized that was no longer my future.
