Never Expected to Get One - Frederick, MD

I am 40 yrs old with a 22 yr old son and 17 yr old twin daughters. I have been skinny all my life and am a migraine sufferer. I began taking preventative medication and gained a good bit of weight. I lost some of it, only to find my "twin skin" again. I always knew it was there, but didn't really mind it before. I also noticed the top of my stomach getting larger (no weight gain).

One of my daughters had to have some reconstructive surgery and we've been dealing with a PS for over a year. My mother suggested I get a consult for myself to have a TT and I did. I found out the top of my stomach; which I thought was fat, is actually my stomach wall sticking out due to muscle separation from the twin pregnancy.

I am scheduled to have my surgery on Feb 15th. I'm a little nervous, but ready. I have all my medications filled. I am staying at a hotel with a night nurse after my surgery and that is all taken care of too....just ready to get this done and have some of my old body back. I'm not expecting miracles; I just want to be happy again. Wish me luck!!

5 days to go! I purchased the food that I will need to take to the hotel and I have it read to go. I am getting excited. (I will be staying in a hotel the day of my surgery with a nurse to ensure everything goes well).

8 days PO...I've had a set back. My surgery took an extra 1.5 hours resulting in an area of my skin and tissue that died and had to be removed. I will be getting a wound vacuum on Monday. My PS said that my case was unusual due to the damage to my skin and muscles from my twin pregnancy. I fully trust him and his staff and his knowledge of how to handle this set back. I will be taking more time off work. This is the first time that I've been able to actually get up and get to the computer to write anything. I am in alot of pain (not where the incision site is from the TT), but the wound area. I know that everything will be fine. That area will just be scarred more and I'm ok with that. Over all, I'm doing as well as can be expected. I have a wonderful husband that is taking great care of me and my children have been pitching in to help also.

3 weeks PO. I'm doing well and on my way to recovery. I'm finally seeing some of the results even though I have a wound vac in place. I tried on a pair of my old jeans and WOW, they are like 4-5 inches too big! That was very exciting! I have lost 12lbs so far and 5 inches around my waist. I'm hoping to lose even more weight and more inches once the swelling goes down. I will post pictures once the wound vac is removed. I am happy with everything!

Posting 3 week PO side view for all to see. I'm still swollen. My stomach will go down much more. I will update with a new picture in about 3 weeks.

Dr Andochick and his staff are so wonderful and caring. When you are in the office; his staff and he act like you are the only ones there and they are so caring. Each and every staff member is awesome! I know all of them on a first name basis and they always ask about how my other family members are doing as well.

I hope no news is good news...I imagine you are just too busy with first week recuperation to post. You are not alone, lots of women out here have felt your pain! Good luck, post when you feel up to it.

Welcome!!   Your date is almost here so hang on a little while longer.  You will feel really good once you have that muscle separation fixed.

That's nice you get to stay with a nurse in a hotel the first night.   Do you have all of your help lined up for when you go home??
