2nd Consult
$16,550
I went to a second consult a few days ago after hearing some bad reviews on the first PS I went to. I was recommended to my second PS consult by a nurse at my gynecologists lol. I loved this place so much better. Seemed WAY more professional and the staff was amazing. They helped me so much. I decided I will go with them. They started a predetermination request with my insurance company. I REALLY REALLY hope they cover the tummy tuck. That would help so much. My husband said we will pay the deposit here at the end of the month, if we hear back from the insurance company, then we will be able to pay for it in about 3-4 months. While I was there the PS and I decided that a full TT with lipo to the flanks for shaping and a BA would be perfect. While trying on the sizes the nurse and I decided that 500cc would look great. I liked them a lot. I thought about 450cc but then tried the 500cc and liked it better. Plus I heard that if you can't decide when it's between a few cc difference then go with the bigger size. I'm REALLY hoping the insurance pills through. Trying not to get my hopes up but being optimistic. Here are some wish pics

Been awhile
So it's been awhile due to a lot of phone calls. Good news though! Or potentially good news. Due to my recent surgery for endometriosis which was $13,000, we have paid almost met our deduct able! Which is great! I talked to my insurance and they said that if anyone would be covered for a tummy it would be me so I have a good chance for that! I just have to have my doctor do a predetermination request. And if I'm approved and have met my deduct able by then, then they will pay for 100% of the tummy tuck, so I'll just have to pay for the BA with implants! And it would be done this year! That's awesome! My doctor hasn't got ton back to me yet but I'm so excited! I hope this works out!

Q and A's for your consult
These are the questions I asked and my doctors response.
Q: Are you Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery?
A: Yes I am.
Q: Do you have Plastic Surgey privlages at a well respected local hospital?
A: Yes I do
Q: Can I talk to previous patients of yours about their experiences with you and their results?
A: Yes I can give them your number and they call you so if they wish to be anonymous they can be.
Q: Where would my procedure be performed?
A: In the same facility I was in for the consult in their private surgery suite.
Q: Are the facilities you use Nationally Credited?
A: Yes by the AAAASF
Q: Do you use Board Certified MD Anaesthesiologists?
A: Yes I do I could always give you their names to look up.
Q: Are you easy to get ahold of after surgery for questions or concerns?
A: we have a 24 hour line so that if you do have any questions or concerns they can help you immediately. If they advise you to come in for something serious then I will be called.
Q: Will I see you every visit?
A: Yes you will see me for your pre op appointment, the day of surgery and all your post ops up till the 6 week mark.
Q: Where do you get most of your patients from?
A: I get them from in towners, out of towners, people who went to a different surgeon and weren't happy with their results, people who found me online, they come from all over.
Q:What procedures do you do often and how often do you do them?
A: I do breast augmentations very often as in quite a few a month, same goes for tummy tuck. I'm usually booked a few months out. Right now I'm booked till the end of April.
Q: What can I expect during recovery?
A: Honestly for you it will be very similar to your cesarean section. The only difference is that you will feel tighter. And for your breasts they may feel heavier, and a bit difficult to breath but not too bad along with the tightness.
Q:when will my recovery be complete?
A: Well it's different for everyone. I stop seeing you after 6 weeks unless there is something that causes me to want you to come back. After 6 weeks you can usually do your normal day to day chores but even then you should take it easy. A year is what most people say that they are completely normal but other women say that after 6 weeks they are good to go. So it all depends really.
Q: Have you ever had a malpractice judgment against you?
A: No I have not. And there is a way to find out for sure if you are looking at other surgeons as well if you look it up online.
Q: Can I get a copy of your CV?
A: You can get it online.
Q: Am I a good candidate for the "Mommy Makeover"?
A: You are a very good candidate.
Q: Will it fix my nerve damage?
A: Nerve damage is difficult to fix. But based off of where it is, I believe I can remove it. However your scar and I tiny bit above and below may be numb.
Q: What do you think would be the best implant size so as not to look fake or too big?
A: I think a 375 or a 385 would be perfect for you.
Q: If I lost some weight would my results be better?
A: With your problems with your muscles I don't think you could lose any weight on your stomach or sides. And honestly and excersizes that involve using your core is a VERY bad idea for you. They are stretched so tightly now that they could tear if you did. The only thing you could do is lose weight on your legs and arms but I really don't think you need to and it wouldn't affect the outcome of your surgery at all.
Q: How low would the scar be?
A: right above the pubic bone. Exactly were your cesarean scar is.
Q: Will my breast feel real?
A: They will feel very real and honestly you probably won't feel a difference except they are perkier and a bit bigger. No one else will be able to tell though.
Q: How often do the implants pop?
A: I have never had a patients pop in my 30 years. But the implants do have a lifetime warranty. So if one did they would replace it for free and they give you a certain amount of money to go towards the surgery cost.
Q: What kind of Breast Procedure would you do?
A: We do under the muscle Breast implants. We do not cut around the nipple. There is a chance of no feeling or intense sensitivity to that procedure so we just don't do it. We go under the breast.
Q: Would my stomach stay flat?
A: That really all depends on you. It should if you follow all the rules and don't gain an extremes amount of weight.
Q: Do you make an all new belly button?
A: we use yours but we modify it.
Q: Where do the drains go?
A: On your side
Q: Would I have drains for my tummy and my breasts?
A: Nope. Just for your tummy. But you will have a pain pump for your breasts and one for your tummy.
Q: Will I need to return to get the pain pumps removed?
A: Nope. You do that yourself at home. It's painless. Just feels a bit weird.
Q: Will I pull the drains out myself or do you do that? And does that hurt?
A: you will come to me for that. We do like a relaxing spa experience and put on soothing music and get you relaxed. All my patients love it and all have said that it is painless just a weird feeling.
Q: How long before I can travel?
A: 6 weeks. That goes for a plane as well as driving.
Q: What are some serious bad signs after surgery?
A: If you are bleeding really badly. If you are swelling about 3 times your size. Not good. And if you see any pus you need to call or come in.
Q: What is the fatality rate?
A: I have never had anyone die here for anything. It is EXTREMELY rare. You have a much higher risk of dying during a cesarean section.
Q: are there any risks of the surgeries I want?
A: the only one I can think of is that it won't be what you pictured in your mind.
Q: when I get older will I need to get my breasts removed or renewed or will they look awful?
A: no you don't need to get them removed, they will still look normal. As for renewed, some women get them renewed every 25-30 years but they have a lifetime warranty so you shouldn't have too.
Well that's that. Hope this helps someone. Have a great day :)

Your tummy looks very similar to mine but I a heavier at the moment, just losing weight so I can get the same op...boob lift, rather than augment though. I have really noticeable diastasis too...had an 11lb baby...thankfully it ended up in an emergency c section so I was saved from the reconstruction you had. You poor thing. You really do deserve this. I totally understand how you feel. Try to remember your husband probably still does find you sexy though, men are much more forgiving than women realise. And you still have a feminine shape and lovely skin. Regardless I hope he comes around to finding a way to let you do this...what about doing the tummy first and saving the boobs for later...your boobs look pretty good, nice shape, ok they're not big but certainly pretty enough :) You do have a nice figure, definitely not fat at all and when you get your tummy fixed you will look amazing. I can see from your pic that you really do have diastasis majorly. so similar to me. I get asked if I am pregnant all the time, I hate it. I hope your husband comes round to understanding ...you had to sacrifice so much with your pregnancies, you deserve to have your body back, especially at such a young age. Good Luck!

March 7, 2014
Thank you. I was a bit nervous putting pictures up. Every time I leave my house some asks me how far along I am. I hate it. My husband is sometimes with me when it happens and all he does is look away or pretend he didn't hear it. Maybe he didn't or maybe he did. He says he is stressed and needs a release and thinks I'm selfish for not giving him one. I hate that. For many reasons. I'm just trying to tell myself that he's acting this way because he quit smoking 3 weeks ago. But I don't know how much longer I can use that excuse for him.
March 8, 2014
Maybe you should tell him how much more sex he will get if he lets you do this! That will motivate him. And it's probably really true! I think it is possibly harder to come to terms with what pregnancy can do to your body when you are still so young as you are. It probably feels like you've had your youth stolen. I'm 20yrs older, at least I had that time in my youth where babies hadn't yet ruined my body. But take heart you will get this operation even if there's a bit of a wait. You want it so passionately that you will find a way. Ive been saving for 6yrs so far...but Im nearly there. Can you start saving and not tell him about it?

March 8, 2014
Well since I don't work I get $500 a month for "Me Money" I was thinking of taking it out in cash and hiding it. It would take a few years but at least it's a plan lol
March 8, 2014
That means if you could save $400 per month you would have enough in 3.5yrs. Or if you just did the tummy which is really your main issue it could be sooner. Possibly only 2yrs.

March 9, 2014
I know but I'd rather do it all in one go. It's easier that way. And less expensive in the end.
March 12, 2014
That is a great plan just tuck it away in an account so u can earn interest and it will happen before you know it!

March 12, 2014
Yes! I feel so much more sexy and confident and love having sex with my husband. He will get more if you have surgery. Lol.

March 12, 2014
Girlie Im so sorry...your husband should be supportive through this...Im not sure of your situation but it shouldn't be all about him...you should talk to him about making the effort to make you feel sexy would go along way in helping out his issues...it isnt all about men it is about you and how you see yourself...really it shouldn't matter if you own or rent...are you guys anywhere close to buying? You did go through a lot having your wonderful babies...I can sympathize my first one I gained 100 lbs it took me 5 years to lose the weight them my next bundle I gained 50 but ended up preggo with our third little one was sooner than expected and had not lost my weight so in tbe end after all the kiddos I weighed 172 lbs...I had toms of extra skin and tore unbelievable from our son so had that fixed...but last year my gf had her MM in July and said something at dinner one night...my husband asked later if I was interested bc I had always wanted a boob job(one boob was a complete cup size different...thank goodness for Victoria secret bombshell) and at first I was upset thinking my husband didnt find me attractive but in the end he just said I always complained about all the skin when I wore jeans and didnt mean to offend me...but went together for 3 different consults and decided on Dr. Davis...on Jan 10 of this year I had a TT/BL on one side and a BA with silicone under the muscle...so far my healing has been great...but I know I feel way more confident and sexy now...have you tried explaining this to your hubby? After squashing your thoughts of wanting to improve yourself to ask for sex or something else them to get upset and blame you for his discomfort and not taking any fault is not ok...it isnt your fault and please do not let his remarks or actions dictate your happiness you are a beautiful woman inside and out and do not ever let anyone believe differently...maybe you could like suggested do your TT first with your tax return or care credit or start saving on your own a little here or there so u can get the money...all will work out my friend all will work just keep your chin up

March 12, 2014
I've talked to him about it but then it seems he just gets upset because I'm getting my hopes up for something that he doesn't see happening. What's funny is every doctor, ( not a PS), have said that I need this Surgey because of all the hernias and my uterus, ( it was detached from something, whatever the doc said), and it feels like it's falling whenever I lay down and turn from side to side. He's been there for all those appointments and yet he just doesn't want to do it. I know it's a lot of money. Trust me. But I know it will be worth it. Though I do feel a bit at fault because when I got my last surgery a few weeks ago I told my husband that maybe it would fix our sex issues because then it might not give me sharp pains anymore. Turns out I had endimitriosis Right where I was complaining about pain. But I also had some scar tissue removed from down low, so I have stitches there right now, so we haven't tried yet. Honestly I'm scared too. Plus I'm just not in the mood. Still. Right now I've decided that I'm going to work out and get super fit, while a save up my money. That way when I've saved up enough I can get the results I really want. I'm 5'2" barely, lol, and I'm 154 pounds. I want to get down to 120 or 115. So I have my work cut out for me. I haven't been able to sleep though. I'm obsessed with this. When I do sleep I dream of it. I'm going crazy. I worked myself out so much too fast that I couldn't walk for 2 days. Well thank you for letting me ramble and vent. I don't have anyone except my husband where I live. And my best GF is about 4 hours away and we don't get to talk as much as we like. I kinda feel like I'm cheating on my husband with this website. Lol I know that's probably terrible but I've tried talking to him with no prevail and you ladies make me feel like I have friends to talk to. Thank you
March 12, 2014
You are not cheating...but totally understand having no one...Im a military spouse and our closest family is 1500 miles away...if your docs are telling you u need it see if you can get insurance to cover some of it...it is worth a shot at least and no you are not cheating on your husband...everyone needs to vent and since he isnt interested in listening to your opinions or thoughts you have to have an outlet...Im 5'4" and weigh 138 post surgery but Im still swollen...I weigh the exact same as going in go figure but I have no loose skin at all plus I had implants...ur boons have a nice shape so u could so wait on those for sure...I also have lift on one side...but I lost most of final baby weight from Aug of last year and jan of this year...I lost like 18 lbs before my surgery...I have just recently went back to the gym regularly but so take it slow ease into and just steadily increase every week...keep you chin girl with 500 a month you will have the money in time and once you transformation is complete you will feel so much better because you earned and did it yourself with no help and you could keep the new you to yourself and let him sweat it a bit!

March 12, 2014
Lol. Thanks! I wish I could do it all at once but I'd be happy just making some kind of progress. I just wish it wasn't so expensive here. I looked at a bunch of surgeons in my area but the only one that had GREAT results was Dr. Duncan. It's just so much money. I'm definantly going to talk to my insurance company though.

March 13, 2014
A hernia (or hernias) repair are generally covered by insurance. Did you ask your PS about this? Diastasis is usually not covered by insurance except in extreme circumstances - there is a chance you may qualify, make sure you mention to your primary the pain/discomfort your belly is causing you and suggest the large diastasis may be the cause. Often what's done is the PS fixes your hernia and performs the muscle repair/TT. The PS should include "hernia repair" in your invoice. You pay the bill and submit it to your ins company who will reimburse you the agreed amount for hernia repair and anesthesia. Keep in mind that amount is probably a fraction of what you'll get charged, but it's better than nothing.

March 13, 2014
Yes. I'm waiting for my quote from my PS so I can discuss with my insurance company

March 12, 2014
Have you double checked with your insurance to make sure they won't cover it since you have such a large diastasis? It seems like that would be covered.

March 12, 2014
I'm going to call them to find out. I'm going to do it today when my kids go down for a nap in about an hour. Fingers crossed!

March 28, 2014
My ins would only do my hernia surgery & they said they won't do the Diastis recti surgery since that part is "cosmetic". I had Kaiser at the time. What did yours say?
Also, you could get approved for Care Credit (medical loan) & they do zero % int for 1 year & give you a fixed monthly payment.

March 28, 2014
My insurance haven't got ton back to me yet. I've been waiting forever. And for the care credit my credit score isn't that great. Luckily my husband says that we only need to save up 9k and we can pull the actual amount out of his 401k. So that's something.

April 8, 2014
I hope it all works out for you. I think care credit is a good option if there is no other way. Honestly, it would be like a car payment.
April 9, 2014
Get more consultations!! Consider one surgery at a time. My PS office offer in house financing with 50% down and no interest! I went in expecting to just have a TT and do the BA/BL later but wound up being able to do both. Ask for multiple procedure discounts. Don't be afraid to ask for discounts!! I got a $500 discount because I was willing to pay the deposit at pre-op instead of the day of surgery. A $500 discount because my friend referred me...I'm telling you don't be afraid to ask for discounts!!
I don't know if that price is including lipo or not but I would DEF skip that. You aren't fat, lipo hurts like hell, recovery is worse, and most people regret it down the road anyway if they gain any weight because it redistributes fat oddly. My doctor told me I didn't need any and he wouldn't do any and my recovery has been SO easy!! I was disappointed at the consult because my doctor did not utilize pain pumps. I don't know how you handle pain, but after going through the surgery, I can't imagine that pain pumps were even necessary, ESPECIALLY the breasts. I didn't even know I had anything done to mine and I'm two weeks post op with sutures still and some minor infection, no pain. I didn't have pain pumps at all and honest to God, the pain was no where near what I thought it was going to be. I had more pain from a laparoscopic tubal (cramping, sharp pains). As long as I was sitting back and resting, I was not hurting. Getting up and down for the first 3 days was difficult but more because I was afraid to pull something than because of pain. I did wonderfully on Percocet every 4-6 hours for the first three days and then I cut down to about half of one once a day. Haven't needed anything after the first week. I got one bra and one binding garment from my PS. (I also was sent home in an amazing comfy embroidered robe and a pretty cool canvas bag for my clothes, etc.) I bought a cheap, front closure sports bra from Walmart and ENJOYED the freedom from the one binder I was given while it was being washed and dried. (every penny saved helps) My Rx and supplies I purchased (gauze, pads, etc) were less than $200 at good ol' WallyWord.
Honestly, this has been the best thing I have ever done for myself. Don't give up! RESEARCH! Find PS that have free consultations (mine did) and go to several. I'm sending great wishes and I am confident that things will work out for you!

April 9, 2014
I got a "stand-by" discount by letting them fit me in when they had an opening which saved me $2,400 of their original price of $15,400...so I only paid $13,000. They got me scheduled for the very next week so I only had a week to prepare myself & I ended up be glad for that since after you schedule it you start worrying & freaking yourself out so the week more seemed like a month since you get so ancy!
Kaiser Insurance considers Diastasis "cosmetic" so they won't cover it. They only would cover my hernia repair.

April 9, 2014
Yes, I have a review on here if u click on my name.
I also got 2 bras, 2 tummy binders, & 2 Spanx garments from my PS included in that price! I'm currently trying to figure out if I should start using silicone strips or brown paper tape on my scars. Any thoughts?

April 9, 2014
Thank you! That's great! I researched all the plastic surgeons in my area but hated all the before and after photos on their websites except for one, which is the one consult I went to. I'm not having lipo. I'm working out and eating right so by the time I figure this surgery stuff out I'll be fit. I just had a laparoscopy and damn that [RS bleep] hurt. But only for like 5 days, and then I was ok. Unfortunately I'm allergic to percacet and vicoden makes me feel awful and nauseous. So that's why she recommended the pain pumps for my boobs and for my belly. Good part is that the draining tubes will be sewed in on my side instead of my vagina. It's almost sewn right into the stomach incision. I know this is going to happen for me. I'm confident about that too. When is another story. But I'm saving up, and getting healthy so hopefully that will help me.
April 9, 2014
Oh! Sorry...this site is a little confusing to me and difficult to follow. I guess I'm accustomed to facebook. LOL
How many weeks post op are you? My PS didn't really want me messing with the steri strips. He took mine off my TT incision yesterday, left mine on my breasts due to some infection. I'm using Biatricin and just covering with gauze to keep the ointment off my clothing. I was told I didn't need to keep them covered or my belly button anymore.
