I am a 34 year old mother of a five year old boy 9lbs 4oz at birth and a six month old girl 8lbs. 6oz at birth. I gained 60 or so pounds each pregnancy, putting me close to 200lbs before each delivery. I am scheduled for a tummy tuck and a breast lift on Sept. 7th. I can't wait for the results, but deathly afraid of the possibility of pain. I have lost 50lbs with diet and exercise and now want the pouch of skin gone and the abs i have worked so hard on to shine through. Both of my children breast fed, so enough said there!

I had my post-op on the 23rd. Got all of my prescriptions and instructions. Did my blood work and EKG. I am paid and set to go. I have 8 days before surgery and I am of course having mixed emotions, the fear of being in surgery so long and how will my family get by without me?????? I hope that I can get past these soon, cause I know that there is no turning back now. And honestly I would be mad at myself if I did try to weasel out of it. I deserve this and want it for me. I will upload some pictures when I can(camera is at cannon being repaired).I will try to post as soon as possible after the surgery. Please keep me and my family in your prayers.

Ok ladies, sorry it took so long for me to get these God aweful photos, but here they are in all their glory. I go in tomorrow at 0730 for my surgery. My fear have again subsided for now. I did cry yesterday when holding my 8 month old daughter. I will so miss being able to hold her and snuggle her close to my body. Since she was born we have been inseperable. My son will understand that mommy has a boo boo.
I know that in the side view I look pregnant, but I promise I am not, had the tubal ligation in Feb. Just bloated a little (very little) from female stuff. Well in less than 24 hours I will join the elite league of beautiful boobies and tummies. I will try to post as soon as I can function. I promise I will be as true in my post as possible about my discomfort or sheer pain. Wish me luck!!!!!

Went into surgery today at 0800 and was back out at 230. My pain in recovery was only in my breast. I do have the pain pumps in my tummy region. But of course did manage to cause myself some pain there when I choked on a sip of water and coughed. Coughing is not recommended!!!! Other than being groggy from the Percocet I feel like I am sore and bruised. Of course it hasnt been a full 24 hours yet. I will try to post my pain levels daily and my progress, so that those considering these procedures can see what a coward has gone through. I of course have no idea how I look, but more than thankful that I did it. Again thank you all so much for the love, support, and encouragement.

I am 24 hours post-op as of now. I have taken one percocet last night and one this morning. My tummy area has the pain pump in it and just feels slightly sore. My breast area is more tender. The only real pain I had was when I first woke up in the recovery room and it was in my breast. I have been able to get up and go to the potty by myself and have been up walking around since last night. My back is a little stiff from being on it for so long, I am a tummy sleeper so this stinks. Waiting on my recliner to be delivered, think I will be much more comfortable in it. I believe I am well on my way to a great recovery. My surgeon and his staff have been in constant contact and are wonderful. I will use them again to do the implants when it is time.

Yesterday was my 4th day post-op and I spent the day at the dirt bike track (my five year old son races). It was very tiring and I napped for about two hours after that. But felt fine once I recovered some energy.

Today was my first post-op appointment. My surgeon removed the drain tubes and the pain pump. The pain pump tubes I did not feel, but geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz louise, I tell you what the drain tubes were painful. It was quick and only hurt for several seconds after, but it did hurt. I had three tubes in, not sure if that is common or not. I had them removed at around noon and now at 500, I can't tell it even happened. I did get photographs while I was in the office. Things look rough, but wanted to post them anyways, so that the ladies could see the progress. I feel great went out to lunch and have completed some of my school work for class on Wed. I will keep my progress updated and post the pics after each appointment.

I am 8 whole days post-op. I had a very busy day today. I went to the dentist, Wal-mart, grabbed a bite to eat and played for a bit with both of my babies. I have had some unexpected stinging sensations under my breat. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, not unberable by any means. I bought some new sports bras, two different kinds to try out. Wish I could at least sleep without the bra, the binder has not been bad. Have my 2nd post-op on Monday.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stand up straight. I have been walking daily, but still can not stand up straight. There is pulling in my thighs when I try to force myself up. Feel great otherwise. This has been one of the best decision I have made, regarding doing something that solely benefits me.

Updated on 19 Sep 2011:
I went today for my 12 day post-op visit and was give a thumbs up. I do have a little swelling above my belly button, but it is normal and will go away. My breast are also a little swollen. I feel so much better with out any bandages or sutures. I have been up going shopping and carrying on with normal daily life with the exception of lifting my daughter. My surgeon told me that on a scale of 10 my healing progress was a 10!!!!! I could not be happier with my results and can't wait for them to only get better.

Updated on 28 Sep 2011:
Sorry I have been MIA for a little bit. I had my 3 week check up today, exactly 21 days post-op!!!!!!!! I am still so impressed with my results. Dr. Marzek said that he was also very pleased with my results and my healing. I do not have to return to the doctor for another 3 weeks and he told me that when I return if I am still on track he will release me. I will stay faithful to you ladies. I plan on getting my breast implants done as soon as possible. Take care and I pray that everyone is healing beautifully.

My rating:

My surgeon was very caring and sincere when dealing with me. Before my procedures he prayed with me, then walked me to the OR. That really meant a lot to me. At 930 tonight he called me from his home to check on me and spoke directly to me. He told me to call him 24 hours a day if I had any questions or concerns. I will recommend him to everyone I speak with. The office staff and surgical staff all treated me as if I were a family member. Can't wait to see the perfection he has given me.

Hi Mandy, congrats on the weight loss. I hope that you will have lots of help at home after your surgery as this is major and you will definitely need to rest and leave all the household chores and babysitting to someone else ???? In my opinion you should wait until your baby girl is a bit older, there is no way you can be lifting, feeding and looking after a baby so young after this type of surgery !!! I am nearly 1 month post op and having teenage children who were able to dress, feed and look after themselves, made things more a lot more bearable.

Having said that, I wish you lots of luck if decide to go ahead on the 7th. If you have a moment, read the last couple of posts on my review regarding recovery and binders...... Keep us posted on your journey.

Regards
Robyn

Robyn,

I am scheduled for the 7th and becoming more and more excited. Thankfully I have a great support system to help me with my little ones. My family and neighbors are wonderful people and my husband will be taking a leave of absence from work until I am recovered. Thank you for your support, it helps to hear about women like yourself, who have been through this.

You'll be able to do it if you have lots of help for both you and your littles. Congrats on the weight loss and believe me, I totally understand about the babies doing a number on your body.

Please keep us posted as you go through this journey!

Thank you for your support. I am scheduled for surgery on Sept. 7th. I am excited and have preop on the 23rd of August. My husband will be off of work as long as needed to help with our babies. Can't wait for the results.

Congrats on your weight loss, whag a accomplishment! Dont be afraid of the pain, for me it was manageable with pain meds. The light at the end of the tunnel is soo worth it. Have you asked your dr about a pain pump? Some drs use them and some dont. I did not have one byt made it just fine. Have lots of pillows and move as much as possible, it will get easier each time, the first day/night as i believe that will do wonders for your recovery. Please keep us posted. Best of luck to you....your abs will be shining through in no time.

Dawn,
My surgeon told me about the pain pumps at the consult, which made me feel better. I read on this site that a recliner might be a good idea, not sure we would use it and they are a little pricey, so nay stick with the pillows. Thanks for your tips and support.

Just remember you have the ladies on this board to lean on before and after. You will be able to handle the pain!! Just keep repeating this to your self!

Good luck tomorrow. I know you will be fine. It will be hard to not hold your little one but in a month you will be glad you did it and will be able to start cuddling again. I wish I could have done this when my son was younger, now he is at the clingy toddler stages and it is going to be a huge challenge for us both. Let us know how you are doing as you heal, hugs!

Hi! Yay, I'm so excited for you!! I was worried about all of the same things you mentioned: pain, my family, SURGERY in general, and I also have a 6 month old baby girl AND I gained 60 lbs during each of my 3 pregnancies. I am 5 days post op and feel fantastic. You will do jut fine and will be so happy you did this. I wanted to back out too, but then I knew that I would always keep going back to wanting it so I better just do it now. Best of luck to you tomorrow! I will be praying for you!
MandyG 6 Sep 2011
Glad to hear that you are doing so well in your recovery. Will be looking for those great post-op photos. Hope you continue to recover quickly and thank you for all of your well wishes and support.

Good luck tomorrow! I'm 4 days post-op and like so many others had all the same worries... well, somewhat different since I'm one of the few guys on the site. I was so nervous going into surgery but once it went so fast... Felt like 5 seconds passed and they were waking me up and it was all over! I just passed over the 3 day hump. Not a walk in the park, but just get thru the post-surgery recovery crap and then everything does seem to get better. Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great.

BTW, I've got been trying to keep my journey updated on my profile here: http://www.realself.com/review/austin-tummy-tuck-male-tt-lipo

WOW, 4 days. Sounds like your doing good for 4 days. I hope your results are everything you expected and more. Thanks for all the support, I needed it from women, like the strong beautiful women on this site.

I am supposed to be up at 0630 and preparing myself for surgery. Took my prescribed meds for the evening and I can't sleep. I am a basket case!!!!!! My stomache is flipping and I am pacing the floors. I keep trying to imagine that I am in the OR and they are preparing me to go to sleep, but then the anxiety comes busting through the door. Well I guess I will get plenty of rest here soon, why worry with the sleeping stuff now.
I would like to say that this is the first blog, forum, or site I have ever created a profile for and been a part of. I have read many of the ladies profiles from all over the place and I am amazed at how wonderful all of you are. This has been a real treat. I will miss everyone once I am recovered. Everyone here has been very real and sincere. I appreciate all the support and encouragement I have received.
Talk to everyone as soon as possible.
Sweet dreams to the beautiful women of REALSELF

Great job! Now just rest and recover dear. You are going to look amazing!

Really surprised at how well I am doing. I expected to be eating pain meds like candy, but have barely needed them. Been up draining my own drains and making my own drinks and lunch. Now I am anxious to unwrap my new goodies.
cottonmomma (RealFriend) 8 Sep 2011
Hope your recovery is a quick one!

Well today is day two post-op and the only complaint I have is that my upper back hurts because of the way I am laying in bed. My husband is picking up the recliner I ordered this afternoon and I cant wait to get in it. My sides are really itchyfrom the binders. I chose to wear a large sized depends womens undergarment instead of my underwear and I am glad I did. I think the blood from the drains would have ruined my underwear since my husband probably would not rinse them out. Also they are really pliable and easy to deal with, then you just throw them away. I also bought myself one of the large pillows with the arms on each side. It has given me some support to keep me from rolling off the bed. I am still taking my antibiotic and the celebrex for inflamation, but not really any need for the pain meds. My support system of family, friends and neighbors has been fabulous. Will submit new photos as soon as I can whether they are good or bad. Want all the other ladies who are contemplating these procedures to get the real thing. Then of course will submit the really good ones.
Hope everyone else is doing well with there recoveries.
32w/3 9 Sep 2011
Glad you are doing well! I was itchy too and I think it was from the pain meds so hopefully when you get more comfy in your chair and when you start taking OTC meds, the itchy feeling will stop.

Thinking of you!
