First of all, this procedure HURTS. I had nerve blocks and it still hurt. Next time I do this, I'm opting for demerol or stronger meds. It was absolutely brutal.
I had this done because my skin was starting to be just slightly less taut as before. I've worn sunscreen daily since I was 25 and have been rigorous about skincare, but hey, aging happens! My doctor felt I would respond well to the treatment.
Afterwards, my skin was red for about an hour, and I had one slight bruise where one of the nerve blocks went in. My doctor said my face could be sore for a few weeks but I had it done yesterday and it's not sore at all today. I saw a difference immediately. My skin looked firmer and my neck looked smoother. I never had concerns about my neck, so I wasn't expecting a change, and was pleasantly surprised.

It's been about a week and a half since I had the ulthera treatment. My face initially did not hurt (aside from the pain of the treatment itself), but a couple of days later I did feel some soreness in my cheeks. I know I shouldn't see any difference yet, but I think that my skin looks a bit tighter and refreshed. I will update again after a month.

Hi nina,
Yes, other community members have mentioned they took a strong painkiller orally and then and hour before had a topical numbing cream, put on which helped with the pain greatly. Based on the community and doctors it can take up to three months to see full results, but you can begin to see results as early as the next day, so the fact that you might be experience tautness already is awesome. How's everything feeling today, cheeks still sore?
Thank you for the post,
-Britt

It's now been three months since I had the procedure, and suddenly people are asking me what's different, thinking I got my hair cut, or asking if my hair is longer, or if I'm wearing different lip gloss. I tell them that I'm getting more sleep. What I like about Ulthera is the gradual change. Since I had minimal sagging or lines beforehand, the change isn't something that is radical or would necessarily show up in a photo (although I can definitely see the difference in the photos my doctor took before and after), but there's no doubt that Ulthera has given me a boost in brightness, freshness, and youthfulness. So I am happy :)
