Had Implants Removed Today! - Denver, CO

UPDATED FROM sirena

Today is March 3, 2012, and now I feel like I can...

WORTH IT
Today is March 3, 2012, and now I feel like I can now go out in public and be among other "real" women, and be confident, instead of feeling like a phoney. Before with implants I always felt subconscious about being so large - felt like a complete fake around other women. Now I feel like a "natural" woman, a regular human being. Those fake blobs were not me, and now when I see a poor woman walking around with "hard fake blobs" on them I actually feel sorry for them b/c I know what's facing them - a nightmare. I'm so glad I had mine taken out and my chest area is normal and I think I look better.

How did you get your insurance to cover it? We're you having pain? Did he have to remove part of the capsule?
Dela, I was in constant pain when I tried to lay on stomach and had huge discomfort w/them in general. I looked "awkward" and felt "slow" when I tried to run or exercise, there is consideration pain when it's rubbing against your fascias and muscles, IMO. How are you? Are you thinking of explanting?
No capsule removed. In his office out in an hour no anesthesia. Very simple procedure. I do believe some insurances cover this. Have u asked ur ps if insurance would cover u?
what is a capsule? and where did you go to have them removed? I feel exactly the same way you ladies do. I was a 34C before implants and a 34DD after in a size 0 frame, seriosly what was I thinking!!!! been wanting to have them removed since I got them just wasn't sure what the procedure entails & am nervous. anyway, if you could please let me know where you had the procdure done? much appreciated..
I'm seeing him on the 12th. I have subpectoral cohesive gels. They have been in for almost nine years. I'm sick of them. I agree about the pressure to the chest wall. My left one has begun to hurt suite a bit and feel harder. I definitely want them out as soon as I can.
Sirena I am amazed that they took yours out under local. They were obviously above your muscle. It sounds fantastic that you could go in and an hour later all is done and dusted. You sound totally inspired by the whole exercise and I am really happy for you. I had mine out 6 days ago and am feeling just as happy. Well done to you and may you go from strength to strength. Take care. Hugs [RS bleep]
Hi Caro, yes, can you believe how quick! amazing isn't it. the ps told me much much hard to put in than to take out. I'm so glad to be done with this ordeal - what a learning lesson isn't it? I was concerned for my health, my body never felt good with implants, and I'm much more confident about my sensuality now (ironic huh). I'll try to post pics real soon. How are you feeling - more than a sigh of relief huh.

Just had my implants removed, the actual removal...

Just had my implants removed, the actual removal was 10 minutes on each breast, no anesthesia, and was able to converse with my p.s. the whole time.My husband was in there with me,and felt comfortable the whole time. I immediately felt better; no longer the "elephant" on my chest feeling of weight and pressure. I held the 360cc silicone in my hand b4 I left, just to feel the weight I was carrying around, more than 1 lb. When I got home I had lost 3.2 lbs!!! I feel wonderful, healthy.

Wow! I'm glad this wasn't super hard and that you were able to get it done. Thanks so much for sharing your story here on RealSelf! What did your implants look like when they came out? Were they intact?

They looked a little discolored on the outside. Yes, they were intact, and 1 was "nicked" by forceps on the "outside" of the breast in pulling out. I observed the whole thing along with my husband, and we discussed this with the plastic surgeon, and this happened once the implant was "out". I feel fantastic. You know Angie, one thing that happened last night was so beautiful. I was drinking some almond milk and I could "feel" the milk going down my throat and esophagus into my stomach. Due to the blockage from the implants this was a sensation I did not realize until last night that I had not experienced in a very long time. I cont'd to take "sips" and again, the cool sensation of the drink going down. It's amazing what the blockage of implants does to our nerves and our sensations in the chest area. Has anyone else ever reported this to you? I just could not believe how in touch I was, again, with my chest again. This is so beautiful to be back to normal. Thank you.

I've never heard that before about feeling liquid traveling down your body, though now that you mention it I (implantless) do notice that sensation when I drink. It must be nice to be back in touch with that part of your body again!

I meant the "implant" was nicked on the outside, not the breast. This did create small leakage once it was out. The ps did an internal inspection b4 he took out implant and he stated implant was intact, that both were.
congratulations ! it sounds so exciting to be back to normal..hope you are feeling well and resting up for a quick recovery ! hope you dont mind me asking questions,?? I get mine out next sunday... how long did u stay in hospital for ? im in for the day, did you have drains? do have to wear a sports bra ? Im nervous but carnt wait on the other hand !
Hi Gypsy, thank you, it feels soooooooo good to be back to my normal self, everything is fitting so much better, and I can breathe better too. I even lost 3 lbs. when I got on the scale, that's nice side effect when I got home. I went into my ps office on Mon. 2/20, and he did it there. In all it took 10 minutes on each side, but it does take an hour total time, then I drove home. There is the numbing medication, the draping, and incisions made to pull out the implants, and then sewing. No showering for 2 days, so it felt good yesterday to take a "hot shower". I liked it b/c no anesthesia, no hospitalization. My insurance covered this, btw. My ps said it's much harder putting them in than taking them out. So removal is quite simple thank goodness. I bet you can hardly wait, you are going to feel so good, girl! Do you have capsular contraction? are you having a complete capsulectomy. I was soft, so I didn't need a capsulectomy. Best wishes, best thing I could have done for myself. What was I thinking inserting a foreign object inside my body, especially on my chest? You will be amazed how quickly your body says, thank you. Hugs, Sirena
