12 Days Post Explant

It appears that the Fluff Fairy finally found my address! Yay! Let's hope she continues to visit. I had a little trouble with my incisions draining, but everything seems to be under control now. All in all, I'm making good progress and continue to feel good. My breasts continue to look better and better. I'll need a revision in a few months, though, to reposition tissue. I have more tissue than I thought I'd have, but the implants really stretched out my skin. I don't want that to scare anyone. Combine very little breast tissue at the time of my BA with 600 cc implants for 26 years, and you end up with some stretching, to say the least. But, I can see progress, and that makes me happy.

1st Post-Op Appointment

I just got back from my first post-op appointment. Dr. Melmed removed the drains and the compression wrap. It felt so good to get that wrap off! The good news: I have a little more tissue than the doctor originally thought. The bad news: each breast looks pretty much like a pancake! However, Dr. Melmed said that the tissue will expand, and I know from the pictures on this site that change happens almost daily following explant. It's nice to be in a comfy sports bra. Now, I'm just waiting for the fluff fairy to visit (often!).

A few details...

In my anesthesia-induced brain fog yesterday, I left out a few details. One implant ruptured while being removed. I'm thinking that it was probably the one with the calcified scar tissue surrounding it. Dr. Melmed said that he couldn't even use a scalpel on that one because it was so hard. He gave me the other implant, which was 600cc. My goodness -- I never knew they were that big. It weighs a ton. I can't believe I was carrying double that weight around on my chest. I'm 6' tall and weigh 145. My breasts must have looked cartoonish. I'm a little anxious about the "unveiling" today, but I know that explanting was the right decision. One funny thing -- I didn't tell any friends or family that I was having this done. However, my nurse in recovery turned out to be one of my neighbors! Small world!
