I'm only 5 Days out at this point. I'm had four drains, somehow I keep yanking them out and am now down to one drain, with a dead one still in place, hopefully to be removed at my appointment tomorrow. I'm quite anxious, about the loss of the drains, I don't know how I'm yanking them out, so I'm worried something awful will happen, especially now that I'm only down to the one. Mr PS is amazing, I hope I don't trash his work through my ineptness.

I'm 9 days out now. Some days are a lot harder than others, I have to keep in mind that I'm already doing much more than I was when I first arrived home after surgery and that I won't be this tired and swollen forever. I can now lie flat in bed, which is awesome, I'm a back sleeper. I'm still not quite standing straight, that's most of what is tiring me out right now, the bad posture making walking and standing hard, the back spasms and pain. Once I can stand straight, I expect to feel much better.

I'm now 16 days out, had my stitches out yesterday. Still taking the Epsom salt baths, still doing massages of the lumpy areas, still taking regular tylenol for pain. I tend not to need the tylenol until I've been awake awhile. I wake up in the morning raring to go, then fade fast. Still though, I'm doing much more now than I was even a few days ago. I'm home alone today with my children, my husband is now back to work for the first day. So far so good. :)

I'm now three weeks post surgery. I feel kind of amazing. I haven't taken any pain killers in a few days. I still get a bit swollen as the day wears on, but I'm finally starting to see what my finished product will look like and I'm very happy.

Welp, I'm now over 7 weeks out. I haven't updated in a while because things have been so much better, other than massaging my scar and wearing a compression garment I don't spend much time thinking about my surgery or recovery. I've healed pretty well and am pleased with the results.
Great review?

Thanks for starting your story on RealSelf! I'm sorry your drains keep coming out! Please let us know what happens at your appointment? Was it necessary to replace them or are you done?

Lilandra 13 Feb 2013
No, they weren't replaced. I had my last drain removed this morning at a follow up. So I have now showered, and am feeling much, much more human. I managed to walk to my appointment, where previously I waited for my husband to bring a wheelchair to the car, so I'm very worn out, the shower especially did me in, but I feel I'm making good progress. My PS said next week we can remove the sutures from my faux inny and breasts. Woop!
