I decided to have the procedure done to help...

I decided to have the procedure done to help correct some skin imperfections in my stomach from my pregnancy and to help even out my hips since one side was higher than the other.

The doctor that I finally decided on actually did my waist and mid back as part of the package, while I only paid for the abs and flanks to be done. He wanted to make sure that I came out with the best results and that it was natural looking.

The procedure itself wasn't that bad. I was given some valium before we got started and an injection for nausea. The initial injections were the most painful. I found that I had to use the restroom as soon as he got all of the saline injected. I think I was just really nervous, but the urge to use the bathroom stayed with me the entire procedure even though we stopped once.

I was extremely cold during the procedure but found pulling the shield over my head and putting my ipod on helped me to relax enough to doze off occassionally.

My biggest complaint is that I am 8 days post op and I am still in quite a bit of pain. Especially in the flanks and lower abs. There will be times when I turn a certain way or bend over and it will feel as if a hot poker has been stuck into me. Although I was prepared for some pain, I am a little depressed because I seem to be in more pain than I expected and more than most of the people with posts have mentioned. I am still taking my prescription pain meds at least 2x a day and Tylenol doesn't even begin to reach the pain.

I see a huge difference in my upper abs and have some muscle definition now. But my lower abs have this little "bunch" right above my belly button and an indention on each side that I'm not sure will go away. My flanks and mid back are also still very swollen and painful to the touch. I have several areas that are purple bruised, including my groin, which is starting to turn yellow finally. I also starting some break thru bleeding the day after surgery and it hasn't stopped yet either.

I'm not sure that I would have gone thru with the procedure if I had know it would be so painful and the recovery would be so long. Hopefully the reults will outweight my other negative issues and I will be happy in the long run.

I do have to say that my doctor and his staff have been great. The doctor called me the night of my surgery to make sure I was doing well and had me back in the office the next morning to change my bandages and to make sure that everything looked fine.

He talked me through the entire process and explained what I to expect each step. He checked on periodically to make sure I was doing ok and was encouraging as the procedure progressed. He did a personal follow up phone call on the day of the procedure and checked in on me when I went to his office for my bandage change.
