By the way, I chose to with the large implant size on the top lip, and the medium size for the bottom lip. Reason being: My top lip has always been a lot thinner than my bottom lip. Overall, I wanted my top and bottom lips plumper, and my top lip about the same size as my bottom for that somewhat pouty look. (not ducky..lol). I was soo nervous to get his done..and although it was only done today, I am happy to answer any questions about my experience and research, etc. I can't wait to post more pics for you all after the swelling and bruising goes away :)

Thank you so much for posting such great pictures!! Please do keep posting pictures and updating us. Even with the swelling right after your procedure the lips look really nice! I'm going to be really curious to see how the results look compared to how your lips looked with Juvederm. Looking forward to following your progress. :)

I am thinking of getting this done. Your lips do look really great. What do you think about the way they feel? Can you feel them under the skin?

User Avatar

Thank you bestbarmaid! Yes, I can definitely feel them under my skin. you cannot see them though. It takes up to 3 months for you to "not feel them" anymore...and for them to become second nature to your body like you have always had them. It makese sense, since now you have this object there that was not there before. I compare it to a tooth i had chipped for some time. I had a chipped tooth for probably a year. I finally had it filled and it felt weird to me once it was filled. I would always put my tongue on it and mess with it becuase it felt different when i had it filled. After a couple of months, that just stopped and felt completely natural again. Same kind of scenario. I hope this helps. lol

Yes, that does make sense. Thanks for the input!

can you feel a difference when you touch your lip (with your fingers for example)? can you feel the implant when you kiss? I am curious if it imitates the natural feeling of a lip aside from the feeling you have with it in there if that makes sense..

Oh by the way, I'm 3 days shy from a month of the procedure and kissing is perfectly normal! :)

OK, so today is day 5 and I am extremely happy with my results. The scariest day for me was day 3, in which i look totally weird and fake and plastic. lol. Luckily, I was just overly swollen on this day. (this is my fault becuase instead of icing often and taking it easy, I was moving apartments on this day which i think made the swelling worse). I was a little scared after my day 3 picture which i will post. Thank goodness on day 4, i looked normal again and today I look perfect! I will post a couple of more pics, and label with the days. I am soo happy I decided to do this. I absolutely love the way they look! Enjoy, and I am happy to answer any more questions!

Sooo just a day 7 update. It's been exactly one week since my permalip implants and they look FANTASTIC! My only complaint is that I didn't do this sooner! As far as feeling, my lips are not sore anymore but feel a little tight still. I have been practicing smiling wide little by little since last night. I didn't want to take it overboard since I have my follow up today w/ my surgeon and want to get his advice about mouth exercises, etc. I am still taking tylonol throughout the day to take my mind off the tightness (not pain), but plan on trying to go without it starting tomorrow since I will have no more stitches. I love the way the implants make my lips look, wayyy more than the filler. I think the filler made the top of my lips kind of pointy as shown in my above photo with my sunglasses on. I like the roundness that permalip gives me. I have the perfect amount of volume, without the "duck" look in my opinion. I have only been using clear neosporin on the corners of my mouth each day to prevent the stitches from getting infected and carmex on my lips to keep them moist. I can't wait to try bright lipstick to see how it looks! I think I might try this in a couple days. Please let me know if you have any questions/comments. I am happy to answer any! WOO HOO!

Wow, your lips do look great!! I love the photo collage you put together for us - so helpful!!

Let us know how the follow up and getting the stitches out goes.

Thank you! Follow up went great. No need to remove the stitches as they are almost fully dissolved. Also, the surgeon said there is no need to do lip exercises or try to stretch my lips as they were so well placed, they will conform naturally. He said the swelling is 95% gone..so what I have now is pretty much what they will stat like which is great! I have one more follow up in 6 weeks! All is well! :)

Your lips look AhhhhMazing!!!!! I just had my lips filled and spent $900 for 2 appts. Sadly I see a small shrinkage already. SO impressed with your lips. I'm definitely gonna have to start saving to have mine done. :)

Great to hear! My only storng recommendation would be, go to a very experienced surgeon and you definitely get what you pay for! I have read and seen pictures of horror stories and then saw that the person only paid like 1,700 or 2,000. I paid exactly 3,000. It was with an experienced surgeon, and i was put to sleep (under anesthesia). It was well worth it. I can't imagine altering something on my face and going with a surgeon just becuase he is cheaper. I am not saying that just becuase someone is more expensive, they are necessaritly better, but just do your homework! I did lots of homework on my surgeon, his background, his schooling, and also asked to look at his before and after patients with the same procedure before I committed. Also, tell the surgeon what you want. Initially during my consultation, I told him I wanted more volume and he recommended medium on the top, and small on the bottom. After showing him a picture of me with filler that i LOVED, we went with large on the top, and medium on the bottom. I knew i wanted a more voluminous look..i didn't really care about looking very "natural". Just because your surgeon likes natural and barely noticable, that might not be what you want. Just pick someone with experience who will listen to your needs :) Also, I read plently of reviews of people who went with medium, and wished they want with large becuase it was either barely noticable or they liked it when it was swollen but when the swelling went down, they were disappointed. I am soo glad i went with large on the top and medium on the bottom. Had i went with the initial recommendation, I know I would have been disappointed. And i would HATE to go back and switch the size. lol. one time is enough for me!

OH, and sorry for all of the typos! I am actually an excellent speller but I type pretty fast! Where is the spell check on here? lol

Lily, I posted above, thanks again for all your posts. I just looked at my Derms schooling and he went to med school in South America although he is Caucasian. Not to make this a race issue, but is the medical school training in other countries the same as graduating from a school in the US? As I also wrote above, he is on probation with the MD Board in the state of Maryland and I also dug a little deeper and found many lawsuits, restraining orders and actual criminal drug charges (!!!!!!) against him! I know this is my own fault for not researching further, but I initally went to him for my first ever facial injectible (Dysport) and had wonderful results. This has been the biggest waste of money ever :(

LPN, if you can find an experienced surgeon in your area, you should go for it! My only regret is not doing it sooner :)
January 27, 2013
Thanks so Much for feedback. I have a surgeon, but not sure if he's experienced with lips. lol I've actually was researching some on the internet after I left my last posting. Your lips are literally to DIE 4. As I get older my top seems to get thinner recently I've noticed. :(
