Miserable and in Constant Discomfort - Cherry Hill, NJ

I have wanted to remove my 375cc mentor silicone...

$8,000
I have wanted to remove my 375cc mentor silicone implants shortly after I had them implanted 4 yrs ago. However, I am so afraid that something will go wrong with the procedure again that it keeps me from scheduling an appointment to have them removed. I have seen a few Plastic surgeons about the removal but never actually set a date. Although physically looking at my implants you can't tell there is a problem, I am extremely unhappy and in constant discomfort every since the surgery.

See, I have always had small breast, 34AA. But after my kids, my breast went south. My breast became so large during my pregnancies that when i returned to my normal size, they sagged so bad that they grossed me out every time i looked at myself. Plus, it didn’t help my sex life with my husband. So, I thought i would be happier with larger breast and that it would increase my confidence sexual with my husband. But I was wrong. See, the first surgeon i saw wanted me to have a breast lift with the implants but i didn't want that. i was looking for a more natural look and not so invasive so a breast lift wasn't what I was looking for. However, the second Plastic Surgeon agreed with me that a more natural look would be better and that I didn't need a breast lift. i wasn't looking to have my breast stand out just proportion to my body so I would have confidence in myself.

However, surgery didn't go well for me. before the procedure, i read all kinds of stories of breast augmentations and recovery time, lasting 3 to 4 weeks and people were back to their daily lives with no problem, but not me. I was in pain for a long time and just didn’t seem like the normal course of recovery. For approximately 6 months after surgery the pain continued and still till this day I experience some form of body pain from the surgery. Mostly in my right shoulder with my arm experiencing tingling sensation like it’s about to go numb and constant shoulder pain only on the right side.
After surgery I experience a hematoma on the right side only which the doctor told me this was normal and i just needed to give it some time to heal. the right side was much more swollen than the left. I tried to given the doc the benefit of the doubt, but my right shoulder was hurting so bad that for weeks i could not move my right arm above my shoulder nor did I have a decent night of sleep. I was sure this wasn't normal.
However, again, i was told this was normal. Yet on every follow up appointment, i complained or expressed my concerns about my shoulder and all the symptoms i was experiencing and it wasn’t getting better. Nothing was changing. I felt, he didn’t even care. He made his money and he was done with me.

Finally, after weeks of complaining, I convinced the doc to order me a MRI of the implants to check for capsular contractures which i discovered could happen if one experience a hematoma or it can increase their chances. But it came back as normal or negative to any problems and then he recommended I see a neurologist and maybe even an orthopedic doctor and that he did all he could do to help me anymore. Although at one point, he did try to blame it on the structural features of my pectoral muscle. He stated that the right side was larger than the left alluding to that fact it was a possible contributing problem. However, I have never had problems with my muscles and in fact i use to workout with light weighs regularly and never had a problem.

To make a long story short, I finally got the nerve up to see a neurologist and an orthopedic which after numerous tests found nothing. Although, the orthopedic ordered physical therapy for me which I attended, I didn’t felt it helped completely. the orthopedic felt the weight of the implants were causing the muscle aches and pain. However, I still have discomfort in my right shoulder and tingling sensation running down my arm constantly especially during my monthly cycles where its more intense. Now, does the weight of implants cause all these as well? in addition to my neck and shoulder muscles are always sore and I can’t find a comfortable position to sleep and basically have trouble sleeping for the last 4 years. I finally went to see a plastic surgeon to have them removed but I was so afraid they would screw it up too I haven’t made an appointment yet. Plus every plastic surgeon I saw after that kind of stuck up for the surgeon who did my boob job after explaining my story and would comment that maybe it a preexisting issue or had no reason for it. they would ask me, "Are you sure you want to remove your implants?" Well, duh! that's why I'm here!! I'm finding it hard to even trust anew plastic surgeon to remove the implants... so nervous and scared. Which gives me another reason not to trust any of them.. But the bottom line is, I want them removed and I feel this is the only solution to my problem.

If anyone is concerning breast implants, think long and hard and do mega research. plus consult a few or even many Board PS before making that big step. because once you do it, you can never take it back..

wow i am so sorry to hear that...because i have an appt on Monday to see him
well, just watch yourself. after i had him do the surgery (breast augment) which by the way, i also had him do my nose and i wasn't happy with the results. A friend of my two nieces, who had implants done by a different doc were also consult by him, my nieces told me he messed up their friend's nose too. just make sure you see several PS before making your decision, that's all. good luck.
