After several years of dealing with extremely poor...

After several years of dealing with extremely poor lower teeth I finally decided to do something about it. I spent countless hours researching many dentists around me and at some point came across the idea of dental tourism. I'll admit I was skeptical at first of the thought of going to Mexico to have any kind of work done especially dental work. With the cost of all the work I needed done I knew there was no way I could ever afford to do this in the states and so I decided to research some more into going to Mexico. Out of all of the dental office I researched the one that stood out far and above any other was Ocean Dental. I found their website and contacted them for an estimate. Within less that 24 hours I had a response from them. As a matter of a fact over a period of about 4 months I had emailed them countless times and every single one was responded to in detail within 24 hours or less. On June 8, 2015 I finally had my first appointment with them. During the first appointment I had an extensive evaluation done and was advised that all the work I thought I needed done could not be done. However they did have an alternate option available for me. This option would entail 8 root canals, 8 post and core build ups, 8 zirconium crowns, and 2 pontics. The downside to this was that this was going to cost quite a bit more than what I had expected or even what I had available. After speaking with the office manager about my treatment plan and cost I advised him that I could not afford this new plan. He advised that he would go talk to someone and within 15 minutes came back and told me they would do the work for 6500 instead of the regular 7700. They also wanted to start the root canals that day as well. As I had not been mentally prepared for this new treatment plan I was not in the best place mentally do start this right away and as such I requested to be taken back to my hotel for a few hours before beginning treatment. They had a driver take me back to my hotel right away and advised he would return later to pick me back up. Upon returning back to the clinic I was taken back almost right away to begin the root canals. The endodontist explained to me that they would do half and at the end if I was feeling up to it he would do more and if not he would finish the rest the next day. Considering I was having numerous root canals done I cant say it was the greatest experience ever however I can say that it was about as smooth I one could hope for a root canal to go. The only major issue was that I had one tooth that simply would not numb all the way (no fault of the dr.) so he ended up only being able to do 3 1/2 of the root canals that day. I was then allowed to go back to my hotel and scheduled to have the remaining root canals done the next day. I was advised I could take ibuprofen or something for pain but honestly never needed anything as I never really had any pain. The next day I was again picked up for my appointment and upon being taken back to the room the dr began the second round of rot canals. I'm not sure exactly how long it took to complete all of them but it seemed to go by very quickly. After my root canals were finished they began the process of prepping my teeth for crowns. While speaking to the dr about this (different dr) I expressed my concerns over my gums to her. She performed waterlase gum surgery on me to fix my gums and then began the process of preparing my teeth for the crowns. I should note also that the gum surgery was done free of charge!! Once my teeth were prepped they took molds of my teeth then placed temporary crowns on my teeth. The temporary crowns were extremely fake and ugly but I was reassured that the final crowns would look very nice. I was then given some painkillers and taken back to my hotel with my next appointment scheduled for Friday. During these days I only took 1 painkiller the first day and did not ever taken anything else either. On Friday I was picked up again and taken back to have my final permanent crowns placed. The process of taking off the temporary crowns was a bit painful but nothing that required any sort of medication. They then cleaned my teeth very well and placed the new crowns on. She made several adjustments to them in order to insure the fit was just right and then they were take back to be repolished and cured while I waited in the room. Once they were done she then prepped both my teeth as well as the crowns and secured them onto my teeth. The worst part of this was when she was scraping the excess cement from my gums but even this was more of an annoyance than a pain. After they were done they took some more x-rays and pictures of my mouth. Once everything was completed I was advised on how to care for them and then taken back to my hotel. Its now been 2 days since I had them placed and while I do have some soreness mostly in my chin area I have not had enough pain to warrant the use of any kind of painkillers not even Tylenol or ibuprofen or anything at all. Prior to having this procedure I had an extremely difficult time eating almost anything and was very self conscious about my teeth. Now I feel like a new person and am able to eat anything I want again. Everyone at this practice was phenomenal and words cannot express my gratitude for the time and patience they put into my treatment.

Update

Well its been about 6 days since i had my permanent crows placed. After about 2-3 days I started noticing my front crowns were loose. So I emailed the dentists office and asked about this. They called me an advised that it was not the crowns that are loose but rather my teeth. This is quite shocking to me as my teeth were not loose at all when i went down to have the work done. In fact this was even verified by there own dentists who did my comprehensive evaluation. Currently I am waiting to hear back from them as to what course of action they plan to take if any. Will update once I hear back from them or if I don't within the next few days.
