I am in CA for the summer which makes it easier to work out with my hubby @ and a gym in the hotel. My only problem is I will have 3 weeks when I get home to SC before the kids go to school I don't know what I am going to do for a work out for those 3 weeks. Once they are in school I will be doing hot yoga at a studio.
Hope everyone who has surgery is happily healing and doing well!

1st week of really working out and eating well done! I lost 3 lbs! Did 3 miles the 1st day on the treadmill! Every other day 4.5 miles for some reason I can't make it to 5! Almost done my 2nd week of working out! Slept late today so I didn't get my work out in will do it tomorrow. I usually get up between 4-5 to work out but slept until my husbands alarm went off at 6:30. I guess I needed it.

I think I am going to rate my dr lower I have emailed 1 time last week and 1 time this week with questions- no response!! And thinking about it 1 time the week before- so 3 unanswered emails.... I wonder if I should switch drs cause I don't want to be treated this way after surgery?? I am afraid if they handle pre op like this what will post op be like?

My niece flaked- she was supposed to watch my kids during my surgery. My surgey is scheduled when my kids are on fall break- the friends I have told are going to be away and my family(not that I have told them)lives 12 hours away. I guess we will just take the kids with us. That way I see them right before I go under and when I wake up. Which is wonderful but I am afraid I will be so nervous and crying I don't want them to be frightened. My kids that will be at h surgery are 10, 8,7. What do you all think?

My niece text me and said she may not be going away because the tickets are too expensive.... I did ask a friend of mine to watch my kids during surgery and she said she has to check her work schedul but she doesn't think it would be a problem. I found this on a site for good healing after surgery and what vits can help:

Vitamin C
Vitamin C, a potent antioxidant, is critical for your body's ability to synthesize collagen and connective tissues. Thus, it's extremely important for promoting rapid healing of wounds, with poor wound healing often linked to vitamin C deficiencies, warns the U.S. Office of Dietary Supplements. For example, a 2001 research study in the "Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery" medical journal reports that, in animal testings, vitamin C supplementation promoted faster healing of fractured bones. Additionally, the "Current Opinion in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolic Care" journal in 2009 noted that vitamin C supplementation in humans, administered alongside protein and zinc supplementation, helped with the healing of surgical wounds.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E, in doses ranging from 400 to 800 IU daily, might help stimulate wound healing, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Applied topically, it might even help encourage new skin to grow, such as in the cases of topical skin burns. Even after the surgical wound has healed, topical use of vitamin E might even help minimize scar tissue.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D encourages muscle and tissue strength and regeneration, which might help patients experience improved recovery after surgery, according to the Intermountain Medical Group. This might be due to the way the vitamin helps increase the performance of body tissues. For example, a 2009 study in the "Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise" journal notes that vitamin D supplementation increased muscle fibers and led to increased physical and athletic performance in athletes.
Vitamin B5
Vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid, can help improve the speed at which wounds regenerate and heal, "especially following surgery," says the University of Maryland Medical Center. This can affect post-surgery recovery throughout the body -- even in the mouth. In a double-blind 2005 study published in the "Journal of Periodontology," researchers noted that taking a vitamin B complex supplement encouraged periodontal wound healing in a "statistically significant" way.

I talked to my daughter- she went on and on about how I shouldn't be getting my surgery. I said you don't have to live in my body after having 4 kids and breast feeding them all each for a year +. She 1st says your a mom you are supposed to look that way. I wanted to say I am a person too??? Then she says you shouldn't of had 4 kids then if you didn't want to look that way..... Not sure if she is going to come to help any more:-( She also said that I am being selfish that I have 4 kids and shouldn't risk it by having this surgery. *sigh*

I was reading a question about what to take to help swelling after surgery

http://www.realself.com/question/supplements-medications-creams-products-decrease-swelling

This got me thinking about what medications that will be on. In the question in the link above I was surprised when it said medrol dose pack- steroid for swelling. So I looked at my list of what my dr will be subscribing me. And it was on there. Is anyone else getting or have gotten steroids after surgery? And on the vits after surgery has anyone read anything about taking iron before or after surgery????
Here is a list of my meds I will be getting from my PS after surgery
1.atavan- to help me sleep for a few days before surgery.
2.celebrex- anti inflammatory
3.Robaxin-muscle relaxer
4. Demerol- pain med
5.phenergram- anti nausea
6. Keflex- antibiotic
7.medrol dose pack - steroid
9. Lovenox- blood thinner- I think it's an injection. I will take that the night of surgery for 4 days after.

What is everyone else getting or have gotten. I am curious to compare!
Happy healing and good luck to anyone who is getting surgery!!! :-)

1
Take a hemostatic agent such as tranexamic acid(marketed as Cyklokapron in the United States). Regulate the dose as prescribed by your doctor to prevent adverse effects.-I haven't heard of this?? Has anyone heard or it?

2
Measure the liquid collected in the drainage bag installed at the end of the day
3
Spray surgical adhesive or tissue glue in the flap to eliminate the space in the scar where seromas can form.

4
Wear an abdominal binder that compresses the tissues that are severed, decreasing tissue "dead space" and providing abdominal support.

5
Keep your abdomen as immobile as possible for the first three to six days following surgery; this allows the gastric contents to stabilize and return to their normal anatomical position.

Hey everyone! My post op is in 3 weeks!!! I was wondering if anyone would share their questions they have for their PS? I want to make sure I am not missing anything. It would be greatly appreciated;-)

Before when it was 130 days or a lot further away...

Before when it was 130 days or a lot further away I was so excited. Now I don't even know if I want to do it? I do but I am totally freaked out. 1.will I wake up? 2. I am afraid of the pain 3. I am so afraid of not healing well 4. Missing time with my kids- my surgery is right before Halloween (oct 29th) and I always get the kids ready and we all go out as a family. 5. How am I going to manage the kids after my hubby goes back to CA. They have chorus, singers, karate, gymnastics- a ton of running @ after school. I feel so selfish. 6. Will my hubby really be able to take care of me after surgery? 7. I won't be able to snuggle my kids. :-/

I have been waiting 4 months and now the count...

I have been waiting 4 months and now the count down is on 34 days..... I know everything I have to get but haven't gotten any of it! I am freaked out! But every time I go to the beach(went this weekend with my kids) and go to yoga(can't twist as far as I know I can because of my hub of blub, michelin man tire, pilsbury dough stomach gets in the way). So while I am freaked out I am started to get excited- hence the phrase - a Christmas present wrapped in fear! Lol
To all the ladies who just had surgery happy healthy healing! Those who are very soon to have it GOOD luck! To us that are waiting happy waiting :-)

Had my pre-op. it was about an hour and HalfI met with Dr. Weniger and the nurse. Discussed my questions- which were a ton since the PC- had answered most of them via email. I am getting a lollipop lift with high profile mentor 500cc's- hopefully when I left the office I said 480- but then emailed to find out if I could go to 500. The PC said she would get back to me. We discussed how far back on my sides I want my incision to be - I said as far back as he can. He drew on me where my lipo would on my thighs- since we didn't talk about that last time. So I am getting full tt w/ MR, breast aug and lift, lipo of my back, inner and outer thighs, upper abs and flanks. I found out what time my surgery is 11am! I am not allowed to shave anything for 3 day before surgery. I got a list of aftercare instructions, lst of 2 weeks before surgery, 1 week and 2 and 1 day before, when to take meds, how to deal with my drains and I think that's it. I am so so so so excited!

Holy swell hell!! I am stuffed into my CG like you stuff a turkey! I feel like I am waddling like a duck and if you stuck a pin in me I would deflate like a Macy day balloon! Yesterday I was depressed about it but ya know what..... This too shall pass! Although it does suck all I can do is drink tons of water, rake it easy eat pineapple and wait for it to be over:-)
On a good note my daughter is in town from college! Woohoo!!! Happy healing, swelling and waiting(for those who are) :-)

I found a great app for before after pics and it's free - its called pic stitch. Had an appt yesterday. My ps said that where I have my opening is common. My boobs where also spitting stitches so my ps took care of that. They said I am healing nicely but to still take it easy..... Every appt I ask can I vacuum? And the answer is always no. I am a neat freak so it's driving me batty! Lol They said I have made it over the hump when most bad things happen. Woo hoo! Hope every is doing well and healing wonderfully!

I was reading Armywife's review.... And it made me...

I was reading Armywife's review.... And it made me think I have days when I think surgery was worth and days when I don't. I think I prepared physically for surgery and some what emotionally and mentally. I think I needed to prepare way more emotionally and mentally. I understood rationally that I would not be able to do things for 6 weeks or longer but I didn't take into consideration how I would really deal with that. In theory I did. But not the mental toll it would take me. Like I just want to sit down and get up with out having to "prepare" myself to get up! Lol I want to be able to really hang out with my kids. But I do understand this is only temporary. I wish I had prepared myself mentally and emotionally more:-)

This too shall pass and I have to say my ps did and amazing job- he is an artist!!! Comparatively to the way I use to look is night and day and I am still pretty swollen!!!! My PS'S staff is freaking amazing!!! From the girls that greet u and take u back- they are do sweet! To the nurses and the other dr in his practice. They always address my concerns and take time to see how I am emotionally. The patient coordinator if I email her gets back to me in 5 mins and even answers my emails on weekends!!! I think when choosing a ps of course he has to be boards certified, you need to feel comfortable and confident with him/her but their support staff is so important also! I am so thankful I picked my ps!!!
Hope everyone is healing well and take care of yourselves mentally and physically cause both are hard and a part if recovery:-)

My right boob where the opening is is itchy and red and thoughts? And a little painful

Everything went fone at my 4 week post op appt. belly button looking- which is weird it looks nasty to me:-/ lol! Boob is healing- be steri-strip- they said it could cause and infection. Which doesn't make sense since other PS'S have used them.... They dug out a spitting stitch on my right boob- same open with the opening ouch!!!!!
I have been so swollen lately- I think a combo of doing too much and bit drinking enough water. I feel like I am on a roller coaster- sometimes so happy with my results other days like today I feel like shamu- I know it's just the swelling - I swear it messes with my mind:-) hope every one is healing well! Good luck to those who have surgery:-)

Sorry for all the typos in my last posted review- I feel like cybil! Good day bad day... Love my results don't like me results! I feel like I am riding the crazy train and I want to get off! Woot woot! Lol

I had my month post op appt. there was a long stitch coming out of the opening on my breast the nurse took it out and said now it will heal. She took a stitches out of my Tt incision, belly button and another 1 of of my breast. She said that's why they were not closing up. I wish I had known that the whole time. My CG is very loose so I need ideas on what to get??? Also can I get opinions on what the best scar treatments are??

I am almost 6 weeks and I feel like I look worse....

I am almost 6 weeks and I feel like I look worse. I am very frustrated.... I went my ps because I had so much swelling yesterday. He must think I am a loony toon. But he was so nice I didn't have an appt he saw me right away:-)

Instead of focusing on the swelling I am trying to think where I was before surgery and where I am now...

I made a huge effort to drink a ton if water over the last few days. 100 ounces a day. And to take it a little easier. Clean 1room lay down for a while, clean another lay down ect... And my swelling has gone down. I am still swollen but no where near what I was!!!!

Taking it easy today. Head and feet propped up, eating my cornflakes. Had a busy day yesterday and am a little swollen. On my agenda today- lay in bed, watch TV, and maybe I will shower or maybe not. Ha ha

Took it easy this weekend- did a little more decorating and went to daughters gymnastic performance. Other then that I have been taking it easy. Can't wait for my drs appt tues to find out a few things.

Had my 7 week post op. got cleared to go back to everything I did before surgery. Which rocks cause my hubby comes into town tomorrow.... Lol Don't have to wear my CG any more- but he said if it makes me feel more comfortable I can. And it maybe a good idea to wear it at YOGA!!! Also cleared to wear a reg bra:-) Got my 1st new bra 36 DD or 34DDD!!!
I have a lot of swelling above and below my belly button my surgeon thinks its swelling if not he will lipo it out after 6 month post op!!!!
Good luck to anyone having surgery soon, and happy healing to everyone who just had surgery:-)

I can't believe I am 2 months post op today. My...

I can't believe I am 2 months post op today. My openings have finally close but left my right breast not looking good... I still swell a ton and am quite emotional- not as bad as the 1st 6 weeks. I still wear a singlet(thanks tat for telling me about)
I am trying to stay positive but I am so up and down emotionally. My right breast scar is not pretty because I had openings and right above my bb is swollen big time.
On a better note my hubby is home and loves the new me- he hadnt seen me since 2 weeks post op:-)
Happy healing to those who just had surgery and goooood luck to those about to have surgery!! Oh and to those who are waiting I hope your time goes quickly;-)

I finally started walking. Nothing big. 3-5 miles...

I finally started walking. Nothing big. 3-5 miles per day at @ 4. And I am swollen 24/7. It's better in the morning but god awful at night. I still have almost a pooch above my bb- which he lipoed. I feel like my hips and thighs are still huge- he lipoed them. I just thought I would look better. It's hard to want to do any walking when I feel so swollen afterwards... As of now I am really disappointed in my results. And I have been eating completely clean and drinking tons of water!!!
Also my scars especially on my boobs are horrible with all the spitting stitches I had. I am afraid to use scar therapy because they(on my tummy and boobs) the incisions keep scabbing and falling off- and bleeding a little. I usually have good days and bad days but this week they have been all bad when it comes to my results....
And my tummy is not looking like any of the pics I have posted in the past. It's huge!!!!!

I had a ps appt- the nurse pulled more spitting...

I had a ps appt- the nurse pulled more spitting stitches from my boobs and tummy incision. I can't believe I had more. I go back next week to see if I can start scar treatment. I was told to then not to.... My ps pulled the scab off my bb so that looks better. He told merge way my tummy looks is swelling it literally has a bulge above and below the bb. Above the bb he said they tucked my bb under so it would look more natural that is why the swelling is worse on top then is usual tt patients. I walked 3-5 miles a day 7 days last week-this week ZERO!
Does anyone else feel like they don't know where to start with working out? I feel like I can't do yoga yet because I can't even do updog! I think I may bite the bullet and just do it starting Monday. I feel confused on what my body can and can't do?? My ps says I am cleared for everything and to fight through it. Also he said for abs- literally start out with 1 the 1st day,2 the 2nd day ect....I truly appreciate what every one wrote!!! I hope I start feeling better about my results........ And I do have days that I do.

So the 1st week I walked 3-5 miles a day(6days)...

So the 1st week I walked 3-5 miles a day(6days) this week I have been doing Kempo- it's like a martial arts cardio and toning. It kicked my butt!!! I only did 25 abs- dr said to start w/ 1, then 2, ect. The funny thing is it doesn't hurt my abs- but my bb feels like there is a hook in it. I defiantly swell but not as bad as last week;-) I added some pics! Hope everyone is doing well!!!

So I have been slowly starting to work out over...

So I have been slowly starting to work out over the last 6 weeks the first 4 weeks I walked/ran @ 3-5. The last 2 weeks I have been back at yoga:-) I was surprised that I could do a ton more then I thought. I did core yoga Wednesday- that was hard but glad I did it.
I had another spitting stitch this week... Just annoying.
Hope everyone is healing well

I just had my 5 month post op visit. I am so happy with my results/ besides a little fat over my bb- BUT he is lipoing it out April 23rd!!! Woohoo! I am happy to say I am officially HALF my size!!!!! I have gone down 8 sizes- woohoo!!! Well not in the boob area- lol/ but I am happy about that:-)
I have been doing hot yoga 5 times a week and hiking with the kids on the weekend:-)
Hope everyone is doing well- will post pics later today or tomorrow!

I can't wait I have weird bulge over my bb. I really thought I would only be down a few days but in my paperwork it says 4-6 weeks of no exercise ..... That means no yoga!!! Not looking forward to that. Also my mr hurt so bad I didn't even notice any other pain not even my boobs it was like they didn't hurt. Can anyone tell me what lipo pain will feel like? It can't be that bad right???

The pain wasn't that bad the 1st day and half. I did throw up a lot. Today I waited until 9:45am to take pain meds- then 15 mins later I threw up. The pain is tolerable but wish I hadn't waited on the pain pills.
When I changed my dressing yesterday I sat up and blood shot out if my bb. They went in through my bb- it was gross.

Things are going well:-) Started the back at the gym 1.5 weeks post touch up lipo- was supposed to wait at least 4 weeks but I was so so so bored!!! Not sure if I even see a difference posting a pic

7 months post op and 5 weeks post touch up lipo

I joined this site about a year ago:-) posting pics! Things are going well working out trying to eat well and am for the most part

Things are good:-) still not 100% happy with my tummy... It looks lumpy and weird from the side....

1 year after surgery *pics*

I can't believe it's been a year!!! This time last year I was sooooooo out of it and in pain. So glad I am a year out!!!
I am extremely happy I got done what I did. There are days - very few and far between that I think I wish I hadn't had the surgery. I say that because especially in the 1st few months it was way more mentally challenging then I thought it would be.
A few things to remember the swelling last a LONG time! The difference between post op 4 months and 1 year your body changes so much!!! Also for me I have to think long term, changed my eating habits and try to workout 5-7 days a week. I didn't get the way I was cause I ate healthy and worked out on a regular basis. I think somewhere in the back of my mind I thought I would have surgery and then not have to do anything after- wrong! I started really working out @ 4 months - wish I had done it sooner- and haven't stopped:-) I made a life style change, didn't go with this fad or some new work out that everyone is doing and I committed! Your ps can do wonders but you have to help your results- that is the biggest lesson I took away from surgery. For me if I didn't I would be right now where I was a year ago. Not saying my ps didn't do an AMAZING job but it's my job now to keep it up:-)
One thing I am surprised about is the tightened, sensitivity and numbness I feel in my abs- it's not bad just different and weird feeling. But hey I will take that for a mostly flat tummy!!!
The reason I said sometimes I wish I hadn't had the surgery is on the days I feel like oh I just want to laze and not do anything I know I can't. Why spend all the money I did and work out here or there or stop and start working out, or eat healthy for a few weeks and go back to not? This surgery changed the way I live my life and has made me WAY more healthy- never thought ps would do that!!
Hope everyone is going well! Good luck on everyone's upcoming surgeries, those who are in recovery/ this too shall pass and recovery is a roller coaster but you will make it through, and those who are waiting- it stinks I waited 6 months to get mine- but it will be here eventually!!! I will add photos in a bit! Happy healing

Hi blonde!' Nice to hear from you again! I followed your journey from the start and your review is inspiring! I finally got my TT MR Lipo done a week ago (and BA BL done 5 weeks ago). Doc decided to split due to my blood being thinner than usual. I have some swelling related questions for you. I have been a gym and high intense cardio rat (Zumba body combat kickboxing etc)...you get the idea...yesterday in had my first swell hell. Went out for an hour, ate some high sodium food and bang! Back to lift chair...my questions if you could answer will help me and a lot of us recovering will be a great help! - how long did u wear your garment? My doc says 6 weeks - how long did u feel your tummy was super tight ...like u couldn't arch your back? - when u say swelling lasts a long time, is the level of swelling different as months go by or even after 3-4 months will I swell like being 6 months preggers..I was planning a Hawaii vacation in July next yr (my worst fear is I'm in a 2 piece looking great in the morning and by afternoon like a pregnant woman)...can you pls let me know how bad is this swelling as months progress? - doc says activity increases swelling so I'm worry about not being able to do my high intense cardio classes (last 45 mins to an hour)...when were you able to do those and did you swell up bad after these and did that change as months went by? I know these are a lot of questions...I read the txt book answers but your perspective will help a lot!!! Thanks and love!!!

Hi Blonde in Bluffton, you look amazing. Great work on your part to becoming more healthy. I just turned 40 and to be honest, for most of my life I did not work out a whole lot & eat that healthy - don't get me wrong, I wasn't a couch potatoe, I just didn't do as much as I should. Now at 40...I see the damage & have been thinking about plastic surgery. I have changed my lifestyle to a more healthy one for the past 5 years; after my second child I blew up & had hip problems, so I changed my lifestyle to a more healthy one, lost the weight & had a much needed hip surgery..now a bit flabby in the stomach, butt & thigh area, I'm considering a body lift. Your results are fabulous and I hope that after this year of being more determined at getting toned, at 41 or 42 I will have my makeover and look just as fabulous as well! Keep looking amazing! :)

Thank you for your update. I have followed your journey since the very beginning. Your information has been so valuable to me. I also have a bulge above my belly button, similar to what you had. I am attributing it to the extensive muscle repair. You look absolutely amazing!

You look amazing Blonde!! I know what you mean about it being a continuous effort to stay looking good. I was injured for 3 months this summer and not being able to work out at all...I gained 10 pounds. Now I have to work hard to get it off. But my PS said he was going to do some touch-up lipo on me too in January. So I am looking forward to that. Tell me, did the lipo hurt near as bad the second time as it did the first time? My ps said it won't be as bad since I am numb in my tummy. But you've gone through it so I'd like to hear it from you.

Thank you for updating your profile, one year! I had to do my surgeries in stages for health reasons, it was pricier but my well being is worth it. I had a TT, lipo to flanks and back 11 months ago, I wasn't happy with the results, I started to gain all my weight back and my tummy did not look like I had anything done. It was also lumpy on one side than the other. Recently on 10/3/13, I had my dog ear removed and touched up lipo of the abs, had a BA and lipo to the arms. My favorite thing was the touch up lipo to my abs, it smoothed it out, and my tummy is flat for the first time, it was never flat after my TT. I'm reserving my review about my BA until later, they are not what I want just yet. I'm most dissapointed about the lipo to my arms, I had 13" arms and they did not even go down a full inch, I had asked my PS if he thought he could take off at least 3" and he said yes. I praying I'm still swollen, but being a month out, I doubt it, I payed a lot of money for that and it was really important to me because I am small and my arms are so disproportionate to the rest of my body. Anyway, I know I'm ranting...please keep us updated, you have inspired me to get off my butt and go back to the gym, you are so right, all that money down the drain and putting my body through all that, its worth getting off my butt! You look amazing!

Hey! I had lipo on my thighs- inner and outer at 1st I was mad thinking it didn't do anything thing but I have to say after 8 months I really noticed a difference. So maybe in a few months you will be happy with your arms:-) you can rant all you want!!! I know the feeling of not being happy. There are def things that I am not all the way happy with.....

Hi Blonde!!!  So great to see you again, and congratulations on your first anniversary!!!!  I agree with everything you said--except that I never feel like I wish I hadn't had the surgery :).  But you're so right!  Once you get this done, keeping it up is huge.  Before the surgery, I was working super hard to try to get to this place that was impossible to reach.  But after the surgery, it became possible, so now I work so hard to get/stay there.  The difference being the attainable versus unattainable.  And the fact that I now look like I spend hours in the gym, instead of just spending hours in the gym, makes it so much easier than before.  Still waffling about when to get my dog-ears removed, though.  So hard to get the time when I have to fly out of state!  You look great!  Hope to see another update in a few months :):):):)

Ouch! I hope your knee gets better. I try to have only 1 or 2 lazy days a week. I hiked all summer in Cali in the canyon's. Now that I am home I try to 60+ miles a week.
