“The Right Size Breasts at Last - Birmingham, UK”

I did it because my breasts were too heavy and hurt my shoulders and back. I am so pleased with the results it has made a huge difference to my every day life.

I had been thinking about a breast reduction for about 3 years as I was suffering with sore shoulders and back pain. Finding clothes to fit was also a big problem. I went through a very long process with the NHS and although it was agreed that I qualifield for the reduction, there was not the budget to pay for it. I had no choice but to find a way to fund the operation myself.

I began the process of finding a surgeon I could have confidence in to perform the surgery. I researched the internet to find a local surgeon and had a consultation with a surgeon from a local private hospital. Although the consultation was free and the he appeared very professional I did not feel confident that he was the surgeon for me. After much research I discussed my problem with a close friend who explained she saw a program on the TV showing breast surgery performed by a surgeon that worked in a private hospital in a near by town, Mr. Jonathan Staiano.

When I met Mr. Staiano he made me feel relaxed and explained the procedure in a way that I could understand. I immediately felt at ease and confident that I had found my surgeon. On the day of my operation Mr. Staiano went over the details of my operation again including what could go wrong and what I could expect during and after recovery. Although apprehensive about having such a big operation I had complete confidence in my surgeon. I had the operation and woke in bed in my room my breast were taped but much smaller. Mr Staiano came to see me and explained all went well. Later my husband came in to see me and I told him one of my breast was much more swollen and was very painful. Mr. Staiano was called and the whole team that did the operation came back in to re-operate on my swollen breast as I had a Hematoma.

Mr. Staiano had explained that this could happen, although rare, and prior to the second operation reassured me that it would have no effect on the final result. Although I was sore I was not in any real pain but I needed to stay in hospital a couple of days longer than I expected. Mr. Staiano came to see me most days and even called and text my husband to keep him informed at each step.

It has been 7 months since my operation and the results are better than I could have ever expected. The scarring is fading very quickly and it has made my life so different . No more back pain or painful shoulders and I can now buy clothes and bras that fit. It has made me more confident and it was definitely the right decision for me.

The best advice I can give to someone thinking of having this operation is to get the right consultant and find out as much information as possible. I would just like to say thank you so much to the Nurse and support staff, the theatre staff but especially to Mr. Staiano.
