“Upturned Nose and Nostril Asymmetry During Rhino Healing - Beverly Hills, CA”
Spent: $5,000 in Beverly Hills, CA
Hi all. I had minor rhino (2 hr procedure) about 20 days ago. My only request was to narrow the width. Unfortunately my nose seems a little shorter and the tip is rotated upward. Initially, I looked like Miss Piggy right after the procedure, but I knew it was due to the swelling. To top it off, I had a sinus infection. So I was feeling REAL good.
Anyhow, good news is the swelling has gone down so my nose tip is straighter. It is still rotated upward more than I would like and appears shorter in length. I am missing my old nose--it was more exotic looking, even though it was wider than I would have liked. After looking at pics before my surgery i started crying because I regret my decision. Another issue I am dealing with is symmetry of the nostrils. They are not completely even.
My Dr is supposed to be among the best in Asian rhino. Perhaps I just need to be more patient. Sigh- i didn't realize this would be such an emotional process and am also regretting that I had to mess with what God and my lovely parents gave me. I hope this story ends well!
Updated on 20 Dec 2011:
Hello, things are improving slowly and my nose tip is not so rotated upward. I am so relieved! My nostrils are still asymmetrical however, but I am hopeful that this will change with time. My nose is still sore when I laugh or bite into things like sandwiches, but to me this is a sign that I am still healing and have to just be patient. My surgeon is actually a very responsive and nice person. I have great trust that this story will end well and I will be happy with the results.

My rating:
I still need to wait for my end results. I am undecided as to whether or not this was worth it because there were parts of my nose that I really liked before and some parts (the width) that I didn't. I feel like both the good and bad were taken away and now I am just left adjusting to something different. I am hypercritical however, and nobody around me has seemed to notice any change, so perhaps it's better than I think.

I'm sorry you're having a hard time adjusting to your new nose. It can be difficult in the beginning. I truly hope you're able to find peace with your new nose and that as the swelling subsides more you become more happy. Please keep us posted!
