It's my turn! I have read so many stories on Real Self, I hope posting about my experience will help someone else like those stories helped me :)

I am finally one week pre-op for my surgery on August 4th! I scheduled my surgery back in April after meeting with a few doctors and deciding to trust Dr. Richard W. Fleming in Beverly Hills. During the free consultation he spent over an hour with me and my husband, explaining everything in great detail. We took photos and I came back the next week, when he again spent a good amount of time discussing everything he would and could accomplish. Dr. Fleming specializes in rhinoplasties and has over 35 years of experience! Comparing his work to that of other surgeons, both my husband and I could see that he individualizes each surgery to get a natural and beautiful result (as opposed to other doctors I met with, whose work looks very cookie-cutter).

Dr. Fleming is going to do a radix/fascia graft to slightly raise the bridge of my nose between my brows, then bring the profile down to decrease projection. He is going to narrow the sides of my nose (there isn't much definition where the sides meet my cheeks) by breaking those bones and moving them closer together, and he will narrow my nip (but not my actual nostrils, which I guess line up well with my tear ducts). He is going to plan on doing an open rhinoplasty, which allows for better visualization with all the detailed work he has to do.

I cant believe it's almost here! I have always disliked my nose- not in a way that crippled my self esteem, but enough to make me spend $9000 to change it... But my mom had a rhinoplasty when I was younger, so seeing what a change that made to her also gave me the courage to do this. I will post pictures really soon, and updates throughout the week :) Please feel free to ask any questions or offer any advice! I'm so excited!!!

Before Photos

Here are some terrible pictures, and I'm sorry for the creepy eyes! You can see how over projected I am at the profile view and how wide my nose gets from straight on, especially when I smile. Any time I have gotten anxious about the surgery, I look at these pictures and know that I will never NOT want a rhinoplasty! I am so excited for the change!

7 Hours Pre-Op!

I can't believe my surgery is tomorrow morning!! I keep waiting for a panic attack but (knock on wood) so far so good! Keeping busy has really helped. Hopefully I will feel well enough to post an update tomorrow- wish me luck!! :)

Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Fleming puts you at ease as soon as you meet him. He is very confident and has so much experience, but he really takes the time to explain everything, answer all questions (no matter how trivial), and reassure his patients (in my experience so far). Any time I am anxious about my upcoming rhinoplasty, I read his comments here on Real Self and am reassured and confident in my choice of surgeon!
