Third Chin Implant Combined with Platysmaplasty

After two attempts by the same doctor, I decided to get a chin implant again by a different surgeon. He had removed my second implant and I did not like the way it looked after a year. It looked pretty normal at first, but I had some weird dimpling and puckering and jowling. I was pretty unhappy with it. Also, my face used to be heart shaped but now it looked round and flat. I will provide photos of my face before it all began, the first and second implants, the removal, and the new chin. I am one month out beginning on Sept 2.

The doctor who did the original and second implant overlipo'd my neck and left me with visible bands that were really noticeable when I smiled. As I got older, I noticed it was quite visible with selfies and would constantly have to angle my neck to get a decent shot. I do a lot of social media interaction plus I am planning on streaming and hosting my own show and it really bothered me. Knowing that I might have an even larger social media presence, it was important to me to fix these things. People are always ready to pick others apart online. It was important to me to not look older than I really am (and people say I look about 10 or 20 years younger than I really am). So I had a platysmaplasty in addition to a third chin implant. BTW, this same doctor fixed four previous botched nose jobs and was the only one who could fix it!

I awoke from surgery with a ton of swelling on my chin and neck. I pain was tolerable and I was wrapped like a mummy for a week. Luckily for me, my boyfriend owns his own company and is able to take off when he wants to play nurse! He is also the breadwinner so I am able to take as much time as I need to heal without worrying about answering to someone. I spent a week relaxing on the couch. I could not move my lips and had to eat soup and suck water or hydration drinks through a straw. If you are on painkillers, I recommend you drink smoothies and eat mostly fruits and veggies and fiber as the meds are very constipating. Plus you will lose some weight! :)

A week later the bandages were removed. I was very happy with what I saw! The neck was totally smooth and the chin was in proportion to my face. Honestly, I was hoping for more profile like my first chin implant but it's too soon to tell. There was no visible neckbands. The doctor said no lifting, no gym, nothing heavier than a milk jug.

Fast forward to nearly a month and the chin and neck have changed. There is still major swelling, surprisingly, as there was practically none with my first two chin jobs. I still can't move my mouth very well and I have a slight speech impediment. I don't know why I'm not healing as fast as before. Age, maybe? Or so my boyfriend thinks that! (Bad boyfriend!)

I now have visible lumps and pockets of swelling in neck. Very unsightly. I am hoping it is temporary and my neck doesn't end up looking crepe like. I am thinking that I might end up needing a lift if that's the case. But I am panicking and need to be patient.

As for the chin, it is looking good and keeps getting better. Because of the swelling, I still look a bit jowly but the shape is satisfactory so far. Sometimes I push my jaw out because a part of me wishes it was longer. But it's to soon to see the final results. The doctor said it could take 5 or 6 months. I hope he did right by me. He only does faces and does a lot of transgender people and in my opinion they do some of the best work because that's a huge challenge!

I have another appointment in six weeks so he can check on how it's healing. I don't think my face has changed much from what I was born with, which means he basically gave me what my face looked like in my youth. But my first implant gave me more profile and length and a lot of attention from men for some reason! It also gave me too much unnatural length and I didn't have enough jawline to support it. It makes me wonder if I needed jaw implants and maybe a larger chin implant? I should just be happy if this time it comes out perfect and now what I think is perfect in my mind.

I will post photos every now and then to keep your apprised of my progress.

Do you know the brand, size of your new, chin implant? I want to get my chin implant out but am searching for a implant that is "more feminine". Current one added length and width to my face. Plus squared my chin out so i look manly.
Thank you for your, help. Prbly have to get my neck and jowls done too.

Sorry for the late response.
I do not have that info but will ask at my next doctor's appointment. I can only tell you it's an anatomical extended. Size small.

Swelling After 6 Months

I am at the six month mark and I still have considerable swelling and a slight speech impediment because I cannot move my lower lip to form words or smile properly. At some angles it looks as if I have a ball in my chin, and at other angles the chin looks like it has finished healing and fits my face naturally. It definitely took care of any jowling and I am happy with that aspect of the surgery. But I am concerned about not being able to smile or speak properly. I need to be camera ready soon to speak on television and I was told that I need at least a year to heal because of my previous chin implant surgeries. The doctor acknowledged the swelling and had me touch his chin to emphasize how much swelling I had. I am relieved I am not imagining it or being told otherwise.

I will wait another six months and reevaluate things from there. It just seems odd that I didn't have so much swelling for such a prolonged period with my two previous chin implant surgeries. I hope my body is not rejecting it but I am sure the doctor would have already brought this up as a possibility. I can only wait.

It definitely fills out my face but honestly, I wish it were just a little bigger or longer. However, that is probably an issue with my jawline and nothing to do with my implant. I would have to get jaw implants to really achieve the look I find ideal. And that is probably going overboard. Dr Fleming is a great doctor and I just need to be patient considering my chin has been cut into so much.
