I had my surgery on 5/24/10 and I am very pleased with my results so far. I had to have an additional scar revised on my upper abdominal area, so I have an upside down T scar, but it is worth it, I am flat and I love it. I still have some tenderness, some days worse depending on my activity. I am 50 and had a pot belly with some sagging skin from 2 c-sections and a hysterectomy. It feels so good to not have that roll of fat over my pants and I don't miss my belly sitting on my lap!! The pain was severe the first few days, lots of rest and using the prescribed pain medicine really helped. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Still feeling a little sore. Hoping to be able to get back on my treadmill soon. Does any one have soreness or swelling around their naval?

6 weeks post op pictures!!! Bought a new bikini yesterday!!! Wearing it today with sunscreen on my incision!!! So happy, still feel like I have a little bit of a bump near my belly button.....but honestly looking at my pictures I am 100% happy so far, I have lost a total of 13 pounds since my surgery, some due to staying away from snacks!! Not sure how much they removed, I forgot to ask, I will when I in this week for my 6 week check up.

I went for my 6 week check up today. PS and staff all said I look great!!! I asked lots of questions and was very reassured that my concerns are all normal, the soreness and swelling around my naval will subside by 3 months. My PS told me that the swelling is scarring and will soften and no creme or ointment will make a difference....so buy myself a shirt instead!!!! Using sunscreen on my incision lines when I go out to the pool, and wearing a new bikini!!! I got the ok to start back up on my treadmill and bike riding, not sure I have the energy for it but I plan to hop in the treadmill and do a mile later today, I will wear my compression garment for the extra support. I still have the fear that I might pop something and end up with a big bulge!! I am going back to work on Monday, I get restless and stiff in the same position after a period of time, so my plan is to try full days and if I am uncomfortable and want more time off or to work half days let them know and they will let give me any kind of doctor note I need. They are very compassionate and flexible. Which they should be, it is not as if I didn't pay for a service!! I love them, so that makes going back to work bearable, knowing that if it is too much I have an option. This site has been so helpful in giving me reassurance during my recovery....I wish I would have discovered it prior to my surgery. Thanks all for the wonderful posts!!!

I went back to work last Monday....it was a long week. I have a desk job, nothing physical. It was really hard sitting all week, I got up and moved around a lot. I was very restless everyday and couldn't wait to get out. I don't know how many of you go back after 2-3 weeks. It was pretty uncomfortable having the waist band of my pants on my tummy all day....threatened every day to wear my work out pants on. I am still pretty tender around my naval area, and still feel a pulling twitch like pain along my mid line. When I sit for along time my mid line scar gets stiff, so I rub lotion on it which temporarily helps....can't wait to feel normal again so that I am not constantly aware of the fact that I recently had surgery. I am also having more hot flashes and night sweats, probably from the pain from my surgery, and the anxiety of recovery and going back to work. I still feel swollen, but all in all I am super pleased with my results so far!

Going in for Lipo of my torso and thighs tomorrow. Also a repair of a separation near my naval from my tummy tuck last year. I have a new doctor, my original doctor did not think I had a separation....he just didn't want to admit that I do or fix it!! So excited to have the lipo that I didn't think about last year until after my tummy tuck I will update with new photos soon!!

thanks for that info. girl you do look great! I am so happy for you. its funny because a great happiness comes over me when I hear others success stories. but at the same time I'm still contemplating spending the money with 2 kids and feeling guilty for even thinking about it when the money can be spent in so many other and maybe better places. is this normal?
MicheleC 14 Jul 2010
I had thoughts about being selfish spending the money, but my insurance covered a big portion, about $8,000 due to my scar revision, and my portion was about $6,300. If I would have had to pay the whole amount there would have been no way I would have been able to do it. The hospital cost was the biggest part. It is normal to feel that way, but if you can afford it I would do it. I feel so much better about myself and so much more comfortable with out my belly, no more baby powder under my flap of sagging skin. I just feel so good, and that is a wonderful feeling! I look at it this way, I drive a car with no payment and I have always worked to help support my family, and my kids are grown so it was my time to have something special. Keep us posted of your decision!!

You look wonderful!

So you are 3 months out from your TT, how do you feel now? Is the swelling around your naval gone? Most of my discomfort is in the center of my tummy and around my naval. You look great! Now I wish I would have had some lipo of my flank area, I honestly didn't think of it..... although I did lose some of my "love handles" due to my midline incision, he did take out some extra skin, overall I am happy with my appearance so far. Need to lose a few more pounds and firm up.

Tomorrow I am having lipo on my torso, which will include my flanks sides and a bit on my belly. Also lipo on my thighs...so excited and nervous at the same time. But much better prepared this time. Also a new doctor. I had a slight separation near my naval which kinda bulges I am getting that fixed

Yep three months out already. The time has gone so fast. I feel really good but do still have the swelling. The center of my tummy and navel are also the areas that hurt. It is just a bit tender and when the swelling starts it is a bit bothersome. Not bad but it will be nice when it all goes down. I am glad I had the lipo because it really made a difference. I had lost over 60 pounds prior to my surgery and that did help me. But it left the ugly hanging tummy. I am back in the gym doing what I can...but no core/AB work yet. I am down to my last 15 pounds to go and it is going to be really hard. The scale does not seem to be moving any more. I think until I can actually hit the gym hard again with a trainer the weight won't come off. Hang in there!

Thank you for the encouragement, I have been back to work 3 weeks now...time goes so fast. I am starting to feel less irritation around my naval YAY! I have been riding my bike for exercise, and doing the stairs at work every chance I get to get things moving. My treadmill is in our garage and it is so darn hot in there that I can't get myself on it!! But I really feel human again. I am watching everything I put in my mouth....nothing fried and very low fat foods. I am very determined to get rid of 10 more pounds then I my love handles are still big I want to have some lipo of that area, hoping I can have it done in my doctors office. I see him again in 3 weeks and plan to inquire about it then. Again thanks for the encouragement!

This week I will go in for my 3 month post op appointment and pictures.....I still feel a bit swollen at the end of the day. Still also feel some core weakness when I go from laying to sitting position. I am a little concerned with my naval it is just a tiny hole, looks like a balloon knot, I wonder if a little touch up is necessary. I also plan on asking about some lipo for my love handles, kicking myself in the butt for not having it done with my TT, honestly I just didn't think of it at the time. Ignorance on my part, I wish I would have found this site pre op!!! My total weight loss since just prior to my surgery is about 13 pounds YAY. That is from eating better too, not dieting, just avoiding fats. I am also going thru menopause which is a battle in itself, because fat wants to attach to you during this wonderful time in our lives...UGG. I am using a small dose of estrogen replacement, but it is a patch and that you put on weekly, well the darn thing rarely stays on a week!!! Will keep you posted on my progress and the outcome from my 3 month follow up and my plan for Lipo!!
