11th April off to have my inner thigh lift, the last of my operations. I have had a breast reduction, body lift and arm lift. I must say that the thigh lift has been by far the most uncomfortable. Walking has been very painful. My surgeon used sutures and the cut is along my crease line from the top of my thigh to under my bum. Toileting is a challenge, but I use my fingers to keep the gap of my garment so it doesn't get wet. I am now 10 days post surgery and finally feeling a little better, I still have a little seepage from one wound, but doc said this is normal. My first appt last Thursday doc said how well I was walking lol. I have a compression garment which will be worn for 6 weeks. Although worthwhile, I have found this operation very emotional but am so looking forward to the end results, from what I have seen now they look awesome. You will definitely need at least 2 weeks off work.

Hi chris06. Thank you for posting your review. I am planning for an inner thigh lift next spring. Just got a tummy tuck in February, will have butt/breast/outer thigh lift in October, and final (hopefully!) surgery will be next year. I heard using those hand-held female urinals help in recovery. Have you heard that? How bad, really, was the walking? Would a cane or walker help? And have you noticed any difficulty with wound healing, as compared to the other incisions you've had? Thanks in advance. And, I hope you continue to post updates. It's so helpful to learn from others who are going through recovery!

Dear Liveheroically, Wow that's great what u r doing, u won't no yourself. Walking was very uncomfortable and going to the toilet was very challenging. U shuffle along. Out of all the operations this would b the most uncomfortable. But all very worth the pain. It's 2 weeks today and I am now walking better but not full stride yet. I am now standing up,straight lol. REST is the key only move around if needed ie-going to toilet, too much strain on legs reduces recovery. No need for a cane or walker.

Hello liveheroically. I am 10 weeks PO LBL, spiral thigh lift with lipo, fat grafting to buttock and mini TT. I had multiple groin openings that opened 2 and 3 weeks PO. My last one just closed and 2 weeks ago my thigh opened in the back. My PS said I had a low grade infection from a suture. I've been on antibiotics three times and I still can not bend down to put on my shoes or socks. I am a very healthy athletic 59 yr old so I know this had something to do with my recovery. I am limited to activity. No more than one mile per day which has been extremely difficult for me. I've had my ups and downs mentally but keep pushing through and doing what I am told to do and not to do so I don't have set backs. I just purchased a second stage compression garment even though my doctor doesn't use them. I purchased a female urinal called a Freshette and it is a life saver and I still use it. Very convenient. I believe it is Freshette.com. Also get a high rise toilet seat with handle bars. I couldn't even sit all the way even with the rise so the handle bars were necessary to hold yourself up. I'm faily happy with my overall out come but you must have realistic expectations. I have to remember that constantly. I came out of surgery with more scars from an allergic reaction to the tape they used. I'm hoping it will improve but it hasn't in 10 weeks. I also came away with more spider veins then I went in with. If I had know it would be this difficult I may have thought twice about doing this. My surgeon didnt offer anything other than the questions I asked and as you know you don't know everything to ask. Hope all goes well. You've had other procedures so you know how you will heal. I'd ask your doctor where will he attach your thigh too after he has excised the kin. Pubic bone, etc Calle Fascia, ligaments etc. and wht is the advantage disadvantage, will it last etc. good luck!

Congrats on making the 2 week mark! Almost over the hurdle. :) I have to say, of all the surgery I'm having the inner thigh worries me most. When I think about how much we use our legs, then imagine not having that mobility....and the pain given the location of the cuts. I'm a bit nervous, but encouraged by how well you say you're doing! Thank you for answering my questions. Great to hear the cane/ walker won't be needed. I think I'm going to order one of those female urinals though. Got to do what a woman's got to do!! Keep healing well, and keep us all updated. :-)

Wow mml. You've been through a lot! And you sound so strong and in good spirits. Thank you for the suggestions. I'll definitely check out the site you mentioned. I hadn't thought about the anchoring questions. Thank you for mentioning that. Seems I have a bit more research to do! I'm a bit overkill on my research so far for the other procedures I've had/ will be having this year. But I think it's soooo important to be an engaged and informed patient. For my tt I even thumbed through surgery books to understand the procedure. My ps noticed right away that I'd been doing research, and I think that actually helped our communication. I could understand what he was referring to, and he in turn adapted to my visual learning style and spent more time explaining the ins and outs. But as you said, we never quite know all the questions to ask. That's why I love this RS community. We can learn from each other! Thanks again.

No problem. It sounds like your dr. Was very receptive where as mine didnt share anything he didn't have to with me. Every dr. Is different as you are aware and they are in their own journey in life. Good luck.

Live heroically. I typed in ischeal tuberosity posterior thigh lift on the web and it took me to google books and a 997 page article written by two doctors " I think the book that they wrote was called cosmetic surgery art and techniques or plastic surgery art and techniques. I looked for spiral thigh lift and it was on page 996 but it overs medial thigh lift and others all with pictures. I hope you can find it. mml

Live historically I just saw my dr. and asked him why I still can't bend down to put on my shoes, socks, shave etc and will that flexibility come back? He said if you want the flexibility you will undo the tightening effects of the surgery and the cellulite and loose skin will come back. Why don't they tell you this before the surgery or why isn't that mentioned in complications or side effects? I spent $30,000 total for my procedures including 9 days in an aftercare facility. That's a lot of money to waste. What is form without function. I am a very active woman hiking, biking, yoga, gardening etc and to know I would have to give that up in order to have a perkier butt? I would not have done the surgery. I wanted a perkier rear and smoother thighs as well as getting rid of the saddlebags. What I got was a perkier butt but my thighs still have wrinkles, fat around my knees, he didnt lipo so yes you really have too know all about the repercussions of this surgery. If not done correctly there can be scar drifting, labial spread so that your lips are constantly open and it is horrifying, loss of flexibility etc. so any one thinking of having a thigh lift please ask these questions you see here on Real Self before having surgery. Good luck!

Hi mm, I am three weeks post surgery from thigh lift. Travelling well but I can see what u are saying regarding mobility. I still am unable to bend due to the tightness. I am hoping this will ease with time. I go back to doc in June which will be 8 weeks post. At the moment frustrated with restricted movement. Why so much money paid?

Mml and c06...wouldn't tightness and such be normal, at least to begin with? When I got my tummy tuck, I couldn't stand up straight fully until a month post op, and I'm still really pushing it if I try to arch my back. It's getting better every week (9 weeks now). I'm thinking that would be similar to the legs too, wouldn't it be?
May 1, 2013
I don't know. Can't find any reference here or on Real Self or in medical abstracts. Would you go through with something if you had to give up the things you like most in order to have a perky butt? He said it's one thing or the other you can't have both. I just would have liked to have ll the facts but since Zi didn't know to ask... Did you have your thigh lift yet? If not when?
May 1, 2013
Glad to help!:)
May 1, 2013
Oh it's online free also. At least 997 pages. Just type in what I had suggested it should pop up.
May 1, 2013
I had a LBL, mini tummy tuck, lipo suction, spiral thigh lift, and fat grafting to buttocks. Plus 9 days in an aftercare facility that was $700/ day.

Hm...I'm thinking, based on what you've described so far, that your dr. is a little insensitive, and perhaps not fully honest. I don't know that for sure, of course, but it just seems irresponsible to tell a patient who is still in recovery that nothing will change and what you have is what you'll have. That's not true. The body changes during recovery. Skin stretches. Flexibility returns. Maybe different than before, but certainly not debilitating. I haven't seen your pics, and that makes it hard to imagine what you're having to handle. 2-3 weeks post op is very rough for any procedure. Depression sets in (totally normal!) cause of pain meds, stress, hormonal changes that occur from surgery etc. The body almost rebels during this time too...swelling, getting sore and bruised, tight, aching, and fatigue begins after the pain med routine is finished. I don't get a good vibe about your doctor, from what you've described here. I wouldn't take him at his word on the 'cant have both' [RS bleep] statement he made to you. That's bs, and too soon to tell at this stage of recovery. I found that gentle massaging of my incisions helped me. Took about a week of massaging 3-4 times a day before I could stand up. Still then I used a cane for another week! At the month mark I was close to normal (as normal as I could expect!). ......haven't had the thigh yet. I am scheduled for my butt/thigh/breast lift in October. I'm starting with the butt and outer thigh and breasts. Once healed from that I'm going to do the inner thigh.
May 2, 2013
Live historically thanks for the pep talk. I asked my doctor if stretching and massage would help because I still can't bend to put on my socks and shoes etc and he said I could but if I did that then my skin would stretch and the cellulite and saggy skin would come back. I just feel that thy should tell you this up front. I just wanted a perkier butt not a 20 year olds butt and I wanted to be able to wear shorts. My skin is already starting to sag a little in the front so I'm hoping that now he has given me the okay to resume exercising that I can firm up a little. Yes I concur with you that my doctor was not forthcoming. He only answered the questions that I asked him and we don't always know what to ask. the other thing is my vagina does not look the same any more. I just thought you might want to be aware of that also. I saw a poor lady's pictures of her vagina on this site that were shocking. It is open. mine is not open but the mons pubis is flat thereby affecting my outer lips. they are flat also. I don't think my scar will migrate or hopefully my labia won't spread open because he attached it to the Calles Fascia and pubic periostium. That is suppose to prevent that. The article I referenced had mentioned another attachment it was a ligament can't remember the name but all these things are important. I am 11 weeks 2 days post op. Never though it would take this long to heal. I think you are smart to separate the surgeries. I wish my doctor had suggested that. I may have considered it. Only thing is I'm moving out of California to Arizona in September so it may not have been possible. Well take care down under and again thanks for the support:)
May 22, 2013
Hi Liveheriodically, I am now 6 weeks post op and improving every day. I can now loose my compression garment. Thank goodness I am so over wearing it 24/7. All worth it though. My legs look great. My left leg is still a little stiff with slight muscular pain at the top. I have started walking further each couple of days.
June 23, 2013
Thank you for your input! I am recovering from my circular tummy tuck, upper arm lift and breast enhancements. I am considering thigh lift but so unsure of doing it. I am glad I have had all this done, but with reading all the info on here, I may not get my legs done. i want to continue to be very active, I am over 50 years of age, and I dont know if I am tolerant enough to go thru this extensive a recovery/healing process again. Thank you again for your input!

Hi there, welcome and thanks so much for sharing your experience with us!

Wow, sounds like you've had a lot of surgeries to go through. If you don't me asking, did you do this because of weight loss?

April 25, 2013
No but my skin quality didnt tighten up with diet and exercise and I've always had a pear shape. I've always disliked my thighs and my butt and I finally could afford to have the surgery so I did it.
April 25, 2013
Yes, I was always a big girl especially after children, all I wanted was my kids to see me thinner. I will and did not want to b my married weight. I am now mid 70's and very happy with that, I have lost over 30 kilos. Had flabby skin from the continual ups and downs of weight loss, my husband has been so supportive and actually suggested it, starting with my breasts. They now look awesome with no implants.
April 25, 2013

Oh wow, congratulations on your weight loss! That's awesome! You've done really well.

CO6_dragon have you had any problems with your labia? When I stand with my legs lightly parted my lips open wide and I can literally see inside into my vagina and I can see the vaginal opening. I am becoming so unhappy with my results. LBL, thigh lift, mini tummy tuck. My thighs are getting saggy already 12 weeks PO, my dr. Didn't get all the saddlebag fat. It is o depressing. $30,000 total includes. 9 days aftercare and the only thing my dr. Ever says it " you look great best results I've ever had". Regardless of my concerns.

Congrats on making it to 6 weeks! :) Did your ps do lipo at the top? Curious why muscle pain...maybe from having limited movement? So great to hear that you're pleased with the results. Would love to see pics if you're comfortable posting. Most pics I've seen are of complications. Would be great to see successful results!

Hi debbiedoll, It's worth all the discomfort. I now have a gap between my legs and I am over the moon with that. Can't wait for summer. Yes not being mobile was frustrating but it's only for 8weeks max. I can now go back to full exercise it has been 11 weeks since my op. good luck
June 23, 2013
Thank you! I love this site as there is soo much info on it. Seems the doctors in Australia have the best reviews! Might just be worth my while to save up more and travel there for my legs! Thank you again!

CO6 dragon having any trouble with flexibility? I see by your pics that your scars have moved outside of the inner groin to outside your panty line. mine did the same on my right side by just slightly. I still have swelling around my body lift suture line and around my butt creases. Doc Said hopefully swelling will be gone at 6 months! There is a lot docs don't tell you which I find almost against what their oath of do no harm mandates. Psychological harm is just as damaging as physical and to not give your patients all the information they need to make an intelligent decision is just as bad. With your thigh lift has your vagina changed at all? My mons pubis and the top of my outer labia are non existent and very flat. Very freaky looking. Along my inner lips thy have moved and I can now see my vaginal opening with just a slight parting of my legs when I look. It is scary and I'm not sure what the long term reprocussions will be as far as hygiene and infection. I emailed my doc to express my concerns because uncomfortable when I saw him with a physicians assistant there so I emailed him. Haven't heard from him yet. I hope all is well with you. You look great!
June 23, 2013
Hi Mel Thanks foe the feedback. Dr says that scars will settle down and wasn't surprised the scar had moved, as far as vaginal, my husband has felt a difference but in a positive way. It looks normal to me. That's sad yours has changed. I have a great dr.
June 23, 2013
I'm so glad to hear your vagina looks the same. Mine looks fine when I'm standing but when I sit to go to the bathroom and look it is very scary. Mine does not look as bad as I have seen another woman on this site has. Hers she said was one even when she was standing. I'llwait and see what my doc says. I'm not willing to have more surgery but would like to know if in time things will improve. Vaginalplasty takes surgery and a long recovery from what I ave read. Don't think at 59 years old Zi want to go there. I'm so glad you happy and that your doc was very communicative with you. Peace and long life:)
July 24, 2013
What was your recovery like? Were you able to walk in three weeks. I am thinking about taking three weeks off from work. Did you have a lot if bruising? My main reason for doing this is to be able to wear short shorts again but now I am concerned with some of the stories I am reading.
July 24, 2013
Yes I could but I was also in an aftercare facility for 9 days before I went home. I could walk but not a long way. I was on pain meds for quite awhile. I have had surgeries in the past with no problems at all. I think because I am 59 yrs old that my recovery has not been at all what I thought it would be based on my past experiences. I don't work but I could not sit on a regular chair because of tightness and swelling for 3 months then after that it got better but to this day almost 6 months I still have swelling that affects my sitting for long periods. I am not as happy as I thought I would be. I looked very good after surgery because I lost 12 pounds. Now that my weight is back where it was before surgery my thighs are still the same size, my stomach is still swollen as well as all my suture lines on butt creases, waistline, groin area and I only had a mini tummy tuck no muscle tightening. My fat pockets are coming back and one side of my butt is lower then the other. My surgeon only says you look so good! Even when I've been concerned about vagina, fat pockets etc. I don't think he is concerned with how I feel because he didn't do what I wanted and that was thinner thighs and to get rid of the loose skin on my inner thighs and it is all still there. I spent an inheritance on this and if my doctor had been more forthcoming about my skin quality not holding up I would not have done this. Who wants to spend $30,000 for something that doesn't even last or change the things you went to a doctor for in the first place. You seriously have to make sure you have a doctor that tells you exactly what to expect. Good luck.
July 24, 2013
I had 2 and a half weeks off work and u need that, good recovery is to rest. I had little bruising but walking is very very painful. All worth it though.
July 24, 2013
Im on two weeks two days post op from thigh lift. And im thrilled to announce I ALMOST sat on toilet today. Before it was a definite NO WAY But everyday i have tried. I also drove first time today. The sitting up position necessary to drive was a little more upright than I had been as a passenger, but I did it. Legs still feel extremely tight from swelling. Cant bend past knee. So washing is still a challenge. So is putting socks on and off. Too soon to say if it has been worth it. Legs look ok, but hard to remember exactly what they were. So my advice is three weeks off work minimum. Dont expect to sit to potty. For at least 2 +weeks. But ive been off pain pills for over a week. I will report the day im fully recovered. Wanna touch toes again. Or pick something off the floor.
July 24, 2013
Here what u r saying all correct, although I didn't drive for 4 weeks. Within 3 months feeling great.
June 30, 2013
I am three weeks PO from tt, breast list and implants and arm lift. Also slight lipo in thighs. Not seeing any results. Feeling extremely uncomfortable wearing compression garment. Have swelling on arms that turns extremly uncomfortable and immobilizing. Have a thigh lify scheduled in 9 days. Having doubts. Off work for summer, button must return aug 12. Not sure of its even possible. Fat and looar.skin was unattractive, but havent seen results yet. Feeling gross from not being able to care complety for myself. Wondering if adding to.it is mistake. Just wanted to get all the pain and recovery over with. Any suggeations?
July 22, 2013
Just get it over with O u can feel good and not worry about any of it anymore
July 24, 2013
How did you make out father the thigh lift
July 7, 2013
From my experience with plastic surgeries I think you should wait at least 3 or 4 months before having a second surgery .After my liposuction my Dr make me wait 4 months before having a tummy tuck. If I were you I will wait indeed.
July 7, 2013
Thank you! I am looking at a year or so. I am 9 weeks out and still working on getting my energy back up. Has anyone used Dr. Suarez or Dr. Quiroz in Tiajuana, Mexico for their thigh lift? I would appreciate hearing of your experience with either of these surgeons. Thank you1
July 8, 2013
I am going to have tight and arm lift, I am taking Vita- Medica kit wich contain of Bromelain and arnica montana. I had a upper eyes lift before and taken these vitamins I was heal in a week so I will let you all know how it's works for my tight and arm lift so the next time you thinking of having anything done you will buy the kit to prevent pain and a faster healing.
July 8, 2013
Thanks for the feedback D35
July 9, 2013
Where do you buy it?
July 9, 2013
you can get these products online. I used the arnica gel after the sugery for the scars and it helped also!
