I'm scheduled to under go a tummy tuck with lipo of flanks and hips. I hate the way my stomach looks on every picture I own after I had my child. I been wanting to have my body back the way it was before the pregnancy, it does not matter how much weight I could loose is just that huge pouch sticking out... is hideous I hate it...

I have my pre-op a week from now. I'm very nervous about it. I have a list of questions to ask. So nervous can't wait!

Had my official consultation and pre op today....wow can't even believe it. Swan Center staff was great. Dr. F was very nice and willing to answer all my questions. Trust me I had a list of over 45 questions at hand & honestly most if the question he answered before I could even ask.

Updated on 20 Mar 2011:
2 day post op and I was feeling terrible. To the point I had to call the answering service, the paged Dr. F and he called back in less 5 minutes. After I described my symptoms he knew exactly what was wrong. I followed his instruction and was feeling much better within the hour. I was blown away with my PS, definitely he is a dedicated professional. So far my experience been great !

8 weeks post op. dealing with swelling at the end of day. liposuction area still hurts...cant wait to feel better.

Updated on 13 May 2011:
it's definitely been a journey of up and downs...1st things 1st you need to be mentally strong and TRUST your surgeon and their staff; otherwise, you'll be a emotional mess. Tummy Tucks are not for wimps, is not an easy surgery and this is why:

1. pain- is real and it will take time before it goes away; however, liposuction is more painful and uncomfortable than a tt itself.

2. you need help for the 1st 2 weeks don't let anyone tell you otherwise, specially if you have kids, pets, etc.

3.you will NOT loose 20lbs from a tt. You will see DRASTIC changes to the contour of your body

4. slow, slow recovery at 8 weeks I'm starting to see drastic changes, your body is not fully recover, listen to your body

My rating:

Swan Center Staff was great, extremely friendly knowledgeable and they far exceed my expectations. I’m very happy with how they handle the process from start to finish; patient coordinators were great, during my consultation Dr. F and his nurse answered all my questions, pre-op nurse was professional, and finally surgery day was a breeze. A board certified anesthesiologists was at my side during the procedure. The one opportunity was the wait time it took approximate 45 minutes wait on consultation and surgery day. I will post pictures soon.

I'm very nervous about the upcoming surgery, but I have to say that the team at the Swan Center been great so far, they answered my numerous questions, been always avialable and given the peace of mind. Dr. Fardo has great credentials I've seen some of his work with other patients and looking forward to it. On of the things I'm most worry about is the scar that goes along with a tummy tuck as well as the posibility of any complications.

I'm planning to do lipo of the flanks and hips and I'm curious to know how many inches of my stomach & hips will I loose after the procedures. Does anyone know what's average ? I'm sure they'll cover all that during pre-op...

I live in the Atlanta area also. I had my tummy tuck Feb. 10, so if I can help you in any way let me know. It has been much easier than I thought and I was pleasantly surprised at how quick I was up and around. Best of luck with your surgery!

How you been progresing? How is the swelling?
Acworthmom 14 Mar 2011
Hey, I'm doing better every day. It is definitely a long recovery. I was up and about early on, and do plenty, but have had some trouble with muscle spasms and definitely swelling issues. I am flat in the morning, but swollen in the evenings. I am 4 1/2 weeks post op and still having to wear sweat pants. Mostly the tightness in the upper abs bother me and make it hard to breath. My PS said it is uually around 3 months before the swelling subsides. I don't think he told me that pre-op or maybe I just didn't want to hear it. Anyway....don't worry because it is all just a process to obtain our flat belly and all you have to do is be patient after you have your surgery. That may have been more info than you wanted, but thanks for asking.

Is great information. I have my surgery Friday, I'm trying to stay calm, my PS said I will look normal about 3 weeks pos op. Reading your story it makes me nervous having to go back to work after the 2nd week.

I traveled to ATL last week for my pre op, so I'm all set to go. I'll post pics after I can feel better.

Keep it going it souds like you are doing a good job recovering.
Acworthmom 15 Mar 2011
Best of luck to you on Friday and I will be thinking about you. A word of wisdom though....don't bank on the looking normal in 3 weeks thing unless you are having a mini tuck. You can look awesome,, but I think normal takes a little longer. Most everyone I have talked to had a fair amount of swelling for a while. You can look normal in the AM but as the day goes by gravity takes over. I wore a size 2 going into this and right now I am nowhere near being in those jeans. I think the key is to be patient and deal with each stage of recovery as it comes to you. I go back next week for my 6 week check-up which I can't believe. Time goes by so quickly. You will do great and the weather here in Atlanta is going to be 78 on Friday. WOO HOO! Where are you coming from?
kwr423 24 Feb 2011
Thank's. What has been the most significant improvement so far? What practice did you choose for your surgery and why?
Acworthmom 24 Feb 2011
Although days 2-4 were quite uncomfortable, by day 8 I was standing almost straight and was able to get out of the house to go to dinner and even did a little shopping. I haven't had any pain from the incision and it is very low so it should be hidden easily. It has been almost 2 weeks since my surgery and except for a little swelling and tightness in the upper abs from the muscle tightening, I feel great. I think getting the drain out after a week was the greatest thingI. I used Dr. McNeel after a recommendation and a lot of research through the board of plastic surgery. I thought he did a great job. I think it is a matter of being prepared and if you go to tuckthattummy.com they have some great prep lists that are very helpful. Best of luck!

I'm doing great thanks for asking. Today is day 5 post op and I haven't had any pain meds at all. the only thing that bothers me now is my breasts are itching which is a good sign that means they are healing....

I slept the best last night I think because I was home in my own bed for the first time!!!

I am with you I love my results already and I know they will only get better from here. I'm so thankful for this site because it really helped me be prepared.

Keep up the great healing girl.

How is your recovery coming along?
kwr423 25 Feb 2011
I'm very nervous about the surgery...my biggest fear is not getting the results I think I should.
kwr423 26 Feb 2011
@soccermom & fun in the sun- great to see you guys are happy and getting better... me I'm going through the anxiety stage, cant wait for the next 2 weeks to go by so that I can have my surgery...I'm a little upset because I'm not getting alot of support from the people that know about the surgery... they seem more concern to know how much I paid for the procedurte then anything else. Is totally annoying !
bridg0809 21 Mar 2011

Thank you! I'm a little nervous about the swelling, but I know it will take time before I can see the final results.
kwr423 29 Mar 2011
I'm at 11 days post op, feeling much better. Swelling seems to slowly be residing, I was able to take a shower, was strong enough to get out of bed and walk around the house.

I had to sneeze and it was not as bad as it was during the 1st couple of day, I had to cough and it was extremely painful. Slowly coming along...
kumama 2 Apr 2011
Wow you look so good. I can really tell your swelling has gone down!
3boys 1princess 3 Apr 2011
I agree! That gives me hope, my hips are so swollen. You look GREAT!!
kwr423 4 Apr 2011
Hey guys I was happy to see the swelling go down. I'm still strugling with swelling on the hips from the lipo, but is definetly getting better...also sweilling on my abs is worst as day progress. One thing I'll say the compressions garment is key to reduce swelling, I have mines on 90% of the time.
