March 15th Surgery (Pics) - for Pregnancy Scars

UPDATED FROM New Skin Wanted

Two weeks post op today!  I went back to work...

WORTH IT$12,000

Two weeks post op today!  I went back to work (desk job), and although I was very tired by the time I got home,  it was fine.  It would have been ideal to start with half days this week.

I am walking fully upright, just not too quickly.  Almost all the tightness in my tummy is gone, I can breathe fully and normally and some of the freezing in the belly is starting to come out.  Sneezes do hurt, coughs are uncomfortable, laughter is fine now.

I am sleeping flat - not quite ready to sleep on my side but hope that will come soon.

Every day the swelling reduces and the muscles are more defined.   I will post another picture in a couple of weeks.

It looks awsome!!! I have my operation scheduled for Next Friday, April 9th. Im very excited. Just going in for a mini tuck but hope for similar results. Im also having silicone breast implants in and I really want to have lipo of the flanks done just for definition, butg have not yet discussed that with the doctor. My pre op is on the Monday before my surgery so I can talk to him about it then. Im 5'4 and fluctuate between 122 and 128 so Im my normal body size. I have had three children and Im 32. The boys are 11, 12 and 13. I can still wear low rise items at the hip but have a small amt of skin and light marks in that area so a mini tuck is ideal. Im gonna post my pics up here too. Thanks for posting yours.
Your post surgery looks great good luck on the rest of your healing.
You are healling pretty quick, I had mine on 3/6/2009 I can se the resuls now, but I am a bit swellen from the lipo in the back. Congratulation you look great so far.

Yeaaahaa!  Drain out and it didn't hurt at all. I barely slept last night because I was so nervous about it potentially coming out today - what a waste of a good night sleep!  It didn't feel like anything more than a pin prick coming out.   And what a difference it makes to have it gone!

According to the doc, Mederma, vitamin E, ect, doesn't make any difference on the scars.  The only thing that seems to make a difference is wearing Micropore paper tape for 2-3 months, changing it every 5-7 days.

My back is a little still from being slightly bent, so I am trying to straighten it more each day.  My stomach is still numb, although I am starting to get some sensation back - it is starting to tingle a bit just like your mouth does when the freezing from the dentist wears off.  There is certainly shortness of breath, and a tightness in the belly, but I anticipate that will reduce once I relax and the freezing goes away.

The results are fantastic!  I will repost pics again once the swelling goes down more.

gorgeous!!
Thanks so much! I feel great!
You're looking fabulous! Feeling well, too, I hope.
Your post surgery picture looks great. You have inspired me to book my surgery today. I am scheduled for April 21. I now have to stop second guessing myself as to whether I am making the right decision. I'd love to hear how your healing etc progresses. Thanks.
Thanks and congratulations! I was second guessing right up to the time I entered the surgery room, but am so,so glad I did it. I think it looks even better now and will try to post another picture again soon. In terms of healing, I feel fine. In fact, I just got back from helping my son on his paper route. I couldn't do it all, but was able to do half of it with him. There is no pain at all. I do have tightness in my tummy, and am a little short of breath, but according to speed racer who had her surgery just before mine it should go away in another week ago. You really will be glad you did this. I would suggest getting in as good of shape as you can before the surgery. Do as much as you can to build your upper leg and bum strength (ie. running stairs) and build your arms/back (ie push ups). I know that really made a difference for me. Good luck! If you have any other questions please let me know.
BTW - I saw on your post that you didn't want your husband to see your stomach. I was the same, and was always checking to be sure it was covered, that my shirt wasn't rising, etc. In fact I even avoided looking at it myself in the mirror. Now I am lifting my shirt to show anyone that will look at it - hahaha! What a difference!
You look great!! :) My surgery is april 5th, and I hope I get good results like urs!
I am sure you will! If you have any questions let me know - I would be happy to answer them. In the mean time, I suggest using this last week to get as much exercise/ strength building as you can. Best wishes!
Wow, you look great! I am having a tt on April 7th, I am going back and forth between scared and excited! Seeing you makes me excited to have mine done. Thanks.
Good Luck! I am sure it will be great! If you have any questions please let me know. And as I mentioned to the other post, use this last week to get in as much exercise/strength building as you can. You will be glad you did!

Looks like my whole post didn't go in yesterday -...

Looks like my whole post didn't go in yesterday - probably my mistake as I was still a little lightheaded.

The surgery went really well!  Much better than expected.  I am at day three and only need advil for a little discomfort at the place where the drain enters.  I am off the other painkillers.  (My stomach is still numb).  I had a full shower this morning, including washing my hair.  Brushing my teeth was not a problem.  I walked around for about 1.5 hours and made toast for breakfast, but did have to have a nap afterwards.

My family has been absolutely amazing!!!!  I think they are part of the reason I am feeling so good so fast.  Would definitely recommend waiting until your kids are older before doing this.  Could never imagine having toddlers or young children around during recovery.  Have my sister and dad here which, besides being an incredible help, is a nice treat to have them to visit with too.

I have to admit, despite being so nervous about the surgery, that I didn't ask my doctor so many questions about the after care so was suprised that he only uses one drain (which I am now thankful for becuase that is the most uncomfortable part) and is not a proponent of binders (I just have a cotton wrap loosely around my middle.  It doesn't seem to be affecting my healing, though - it looks fantastic!!!  Even with the swelling I am absolutely thrilled with the results.  My only regret is not doing it sooner.

I will post pictures later today or tomorrow.  If you are thinking of doing this, definitely go ahead with this advice:

-wait till your kids are older.  Mine are teenagers and it feels like an appropriate time -have supportive family there to help for at least a week

-be in good shape, exspecially your upper legs and arms.  Do tonnes of stairs and push ups to get ready

-have tonnes of pillows (over 10).  I have a Lazyboy recliner but was more comfortable in my bed with lots of pillows

-shopping list for before hand:  two snap up/button up light lounge dresses (I got one from Walmart for $10 that was perfect), cotton loose panties that sit low, babywipes, movies, magazines, advil, laxatives/stool softeners, unsalted crackers

It seems like your operation went well. Are you pleased with the results so far? I am still trying to decide whether or not to go through with it. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
Thanks for your note. Thins went really, really well - far better than I expected. The results are great (will post pics later) and I am feeling way better than I thought I would. I recommend that you try to be in good shape before you go through with it (strong legs and arms). Every time I stand up I give thanks for the strength in my legs. I am also very glad that I have supportive family helping me and that I waited until my kids were older. Let me know if you have any other questions - I would be happy to help...I had so many myself!
Did you have to give yourself injections with drugs to prevent blood clots? I was informed yesterday, that at the clinic I am thinking of having my surgery, they teach you how to give yourself the injections. I have never heard of this before.
No - not at all. The told me to get up and walk when I could, and when I couldn't to keep moving my legs and ankles - that's it.
Looking forward to seeing your 'after' photos. Great that you did so much hard work exercising before the surgery. Congrats to you and continued quick healing!
Thanks! Should post after pics later today or tomorrow
wish i would have read your advice sooner...lol i have two kids 3 and 1!!! this is going to be fun! I have LOADS of help! My mom is staying with me to care for my kids for 10 days! Hope that is long enough eekkkk....I am so excited to see your after pics! Glad that everything is going so well! My doc is not big on the compression garments either so i am intrested to hear about that! What were your docs. reasons! i am also going to go to walmart and get one of those hot little snap up gowns....lol....
It will be really nice to have your mom there! Ten days should be enough - I am starting to feel like myself more each day. Just be prepared that you may not be able to lift your kids for quite a while. You will have to be careful hugging too. I am not sure why the doc doesn't support the binders - I only found out in post op care, but I will be seeing him again Monday and will ask him then. One other thing I should have mentioned is a cane/walker. I don't have one but it would be useful, particularly with little ones around. Walmart gown - hahaha - mine is blue checkered with embroidered butterflies - sexy!!
lol!!! Let me know what he says. i have my pre opp on Tuesday so it will be nice to compare notes!!!
So sorry! The doc was in and out so fast today I didn't get to ask him about why he doesn't support binders. You know, my doc really doesn't have the best bedside manners, but I am still very happy with his work.
I had my TT on monday 3/15 at Hartford Hospt. I went home the evening of the 16th as I had 2 other sma11 procedures done - I had a ton of pain but today I am down to 1 di1audid 3x day and no naps. thorough1y enjoyed my shower - no dizziness. Sti11 have ports unti1 next Thursday - pain subsiding be11y f1at but swo11en - i wont be putting my skinny jeans on for a while - thats the only thing Im bummed about - i didn't rea1ize the recovery time!
So thrilled that your surgery went well! Excited to see your post TT pictures! :) Keep up the positive attitude, it's key!
Thanks! And thanks again for all your posts - I found them so helpful, even in measuring my post care progress.
Your so welcome! :)
