Worth It
Spent: $7,200 in Houston, Texas

I am pretty athletic build but I always had a tummy. I decided smart lipo was the right choice for me after my mom had it done with Dr. B. I'm from the OKC area but the travel was well worth it. I had my upper, lower abs and flanks done.

I arrived at Dr. B's office around 9 a.m. and was taken back to be checked out and prepped. Dr. B came in about 15 minutes later and we discussed what would happen in detail, he marked me up, and took my before pictures. I put on the lovely paper underwear and bra and gown. The nurse gave me my medication and brought me to the room. She prepped me for the procedure and I laid on the table.

From the beginning of the procedure to the end, she made sure I was comfortable. It was actually pretty easy, but a little long (but he was really thorough so it was perfectly fine with me). He gave me shots of numbing medication and then made the little circular incisions. The numbing medicine was then put inside the incisions and given a little while to completely kick in. The laser was then used and then the suction. The procedure took about 3 1/2 or 4 hours and near the end I got a little nauseous, but it wasn't too bad.

I was a little swollen, but not bad (I think wearing the garment as much as possible helps). Absolutely no bruising. I was a little sore for a couple of days but nothing too bad and it felt like I had worked out hard. That evening I went to a movie with my mom and dad. The next day I went shopping :). I returned to work on Monday and it was a piece of cake. Now I am a week and a half out and can see big improvements daily.

I forgot to mention how great my mom is in my first post :) She paid for my procedure as a wedding gift. I'm getting married in 45 days and will look fabulous on my special day! I'll be posting many more pictures soon!

I'm at week 3 today. Last week I was in Houston for my bridal shower and follow-up appointment. He was really happy with my results and decided to save me a trip to Houston and take the before and after photos (they normally do them at 2 months which would be my honeymoon week lol). I've posted the pictures he took. They're scanned from the page he gave me so they aren't the best quality, but you can see how big a difference smart lipo made. Thank goodness I started tanning for the wedding I was lookin pretty pastey in my before pics!! All of the swelling has gone down and I only wear my garment while I'm at work. 1 week out I started to workout and have continued to do so. I'm down 5lbs from my pre-op weight and hope to continue to lose some more before the wedding.

My Doctor:

Dr. B and his staff are very professional and made sure I was comfortable the entire procedure. Dr. B is the best there is!

I started to go to Dr. B, had made a appt. but when I found out he wasn't board certified I decided not to. I ended up going to the same dr. who did my tummy tuck and had Vaser Lipo instead. I'm only 4 days PO but can see some results. The swelling is getting better everyday

I think being board certified is really important, but it's not the MOST important thing. Take CPA's for example. My future MIL is an accountant, but she decided not to take the CPA exam. She's just as knowledgeable in all things accounting, she just doesn't have the paper saying she is. If someone isn't board certified, I would make sure you do a lot of research and get plenty of references. My mom went to Dr. B and highly recommended him, and I trust my mom. In the end, go with who you feel will do the best job for you, board certified or not.

Wow, i was reading this review feeling sort of skeptical it was a real story (not a doctor office post). then, bam, i see this comment. i am now certain its b.s. giving advice like going with your feelings vs. board certification is ridiculous and dangerous. be honest, do you work for "Dr B" or sell smart lipo machinery?

I got endermologie treatments with my smartlipo and that helps break down tough spots. I haven't had too many spots but I could tell it was smoother looking after my first treatment. I have 2 more to go. I'd love to see pictures of your results so be sure to post some on your review!!!

I am interested in this Dr. B, can you tell me his actual name since he seems to be well recommended? I am from the Clear Lake area. Thank you!

Hi there- you look great! Best of luck with your wedding- you'll look stunning, I'm sure. Could I please ask how many cc's were taken out? I'm about to have a similar procedure in London, and thought my surgeon said he would take really small amount-just over a pint. I'd love to compare that to you, as your pics will be a good guideline. Thanks so much. J

I had 1 3/4 containers filled up. I think that was close to 1500cc, but i could be wrong.
JaneS (10 posts) 20 Jun 2009
Hi there. Had my op today, and he took around 800cc. Hopefully it's enough!!! I'll let you know. I would have liked to see a little more, but fingers crossed it's enough to see a good result. Thanks again for your help. Jx

Did you get any bruiding or lumpiness that you hear from some of the posts? Your pix look fantastic! I'm getting it done in 10 days! and I am hoping I have little bruising and swelling. Am open to advice on how to keep risk down. I got to work postop day 2. Thx in advance, and you will be a rockin' bride.
mirdamae03 (12 posts) 12 Jun 2009
Nope, no bruising at all or lumpiness. I don't know what affects that, if it's your body or the dr. or a combination of the two. You should be ok to go back to work, you will definitely be sore, but will be done oozing. I just put bandaids and neosporin over my holes after the leaking was done. Make sure to wear your garment as much as possible. I wore mine 24/7 for 2 weeks and it seemed to really help the swelling thing and the tightening. Good luck and let us know how yours goes!

I am built like you and this excited me. I had a bay over three years ago and never lost the weight. In fact I gained more weight the stress from school and single parenting. I carry all my excess weight in my belly. I have been running, walking, and wearing a waist belt, but not much result. I have also changed my diet to include more fruits and vegetable. Less red meat more poultry. Less carbs, more fiber. I see no results. I wear a girdle everyday to hide the fat.
