Hello. I'm male, 29 y. Fair Mediterranean skin type. My question: Is it safe to use chemical Sunscreens with Tretinoin? I read that Tretinoin thins out the outermost layer of the skin, the stratum corneum. I also read that chemical Sunscreens need an intact stratum corneum to work. Does using Tretinoin therefore render chemical Sunscreens ineffective or is it a safe combination? Thank you very much.
I have experienced allergic reactions to 3 different sunscreens now. EltaMD, Shiseido Sensitive Skin and Kids, and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer. Reaction includes itching, burning, redness, bumps, and scaly skin. Please advise on a sunscreen that I can use as going without sun protection is not an option! I also use Retina-A from the brand Altreno. Altreno 0.05%
Dear Doctors, For 8 mos, Ive slowly increased Retin-A to 3x/week on my face and neck with great results. Mineral sunscreen is my only option because Im allergic to chemical SPF. Mineral sunscreen takes great effort to remove at night before applying Retin-A. In the morning, is it necessary to wash the face before applying sunscreen to head out for a run? Even good tap water in NYC has endocrine disrupters, much chlorine and Id like to skip this step in the morning. Your advice, please?
Hi there. I am using tret 0.5 for 2 months now (1 x week then 2 x week) now I am on my 3 month just been few days. However, in the past 2 days, when I apply sunscreen in the morning, my skin feels burning. Am I doing something wrong? I am so concerned and I have a sensitive skin to begin with.
I use retin A cream for about 2 months now. I forgot to use lots of sunscreen and went and played in my soccer tournament all day in the Las Vegas sun, my skin now has red blotches that are hard and look like rashes. It hurts badly to put anything on my face and I used lots of aloe but Im very worried what is going to happen to my skin now? What should I do to help it?
Last month, I used retinol .05% and lactic acid 10% each once a week, on different days. On several occasions, I went out the next morning or day during a UV Index 1 day without sunscreen. Sometimes, I used an SPF 15 lotion, but I have read that these do not have coverage like sunscreen does. I have noticed new wrinkles under my eyes. Previously I only had very fine, and few, lines. Now there are many and my eyes look quite wrinkled. Can just these exposures induce these problems, so quickly?
I have many red & brown post-acne marks. I've been using Retin-A (.025%) for 2 weeks now. I started using it every 2 to 3 days since I'd get really dry skin. After a week, I had no dry skin so I've been applying it (a pea sized amount for my entire face) every night. I wear SPF 55 everyday. I've noticed my skin is no longer textured/rough or bumpy. But my red and brown acne marks seem to have gotten larger & darker, is this normal? Should I be concerned about the hyper-pigmentation? Thank you.
Ive been using Retin a for 1 month or so, Ive been using it 2-3 times a week for the first 2 weeks and gradually increase it to every other day. My forehead is the worst, my acne was mostly in my forehead but my doctor said to put it on my entire face. My face is currently so fragile, its too tightly painful, so dry and itchy esp at night, I put moisturizer with spf like maniac. How long should i stop purging? Or did I developed irritation from it?
