I had umbilical hernia repair 12 days ago, bandages are off, and dissolvable stitches are still in my belly button but now I realize my surgeon put sutures inside my belly button, under the skin. It's very painful. I'm a stomach sleeper and the pinching & squeezing of the sutures is uncomfortable. My navel skin is tight/red. No other swelling or hardness but my belly button is hard, thick & pink. I realize this might be residual swelling but this is being full, activity, and sleeping painful.
I had a very small umbilical hernia, made me have an outti. Just had surgery 11 days ago, and it still is a outti, and like a hard ball above the stitches... Im scared my belly button is never going to be normal again... pic attached.
ISince the surgery I have researched/discovered how dangerous mesh is, long and short term. My surgeon has told me that he will take the mesh out if I want and repair with dissolvable sutures, but the hernia will likely come back. After speaking to a Dr that specialises in non-mesh repairs he said that I definitely need it repaired with permanent sutures (which also contain polypropylene) is this true, and if so how safe is it to have permanent sutures in the body? Has testing been done on this?
I am 2 weeks post-op from umbilical hernia surgery. What was originally to be a laparoscopic procedure for a small hernia turned into an open procedure for 2 defects. The surgeon cut them, forming one large hole and repaired with mesh. I was on a 15lb weight restriction for week one and 25 for week 2. As I laid my under 15 pound son in his rocker, I twisted at the core a bit. I felt a large pop, and now I have a noticeable bulge in my belly button that wasn't present even before repair.Thoughts?
hi I am currently 2 weeks post laroscopic inguinal hernia repair with mesh it was done using the keyhole method and mesh was used I'm just wondering how long it take for the pain to subside, both at the site of the hernia and the discomfort across the lower abdomen which I am guessing is caused by the use of the tools any advice is welcome and thanks in advance
