I am thinking about getting a double jaw surgery (if Im the right candidate) due to having some issues. I also have a long philtrum but havent been able to fix it because it will cause a gummy smile. If a double jaw surgery is right for me, is it possible to reduce the bone in the philtrum area so I can get a lip lift? If so, can you do a double jaw surgery and a lip lift during the same surgery session?
My surgeon moved my upper jaw down 4 mm to increase incisoral show. I can understand that my philtrum may lengthen as a result but do you think swelling is exacerbating the issue? The tip of my nose down to my upper lip is currently numb, though I have more mobility at the center of my lips than the sides. One side of my face is also more swollen than the other because bone was taken for grafting. I know the overall area will look better with time but I'm concerned specifically about my philtrum.
The projection of my philtrum has always bothered me. I have a very extreme deep bite, and I recently finished Invisalign which lessened the deep bite slightly. Still have a pretty bad deep bite though why does my side profile look so weird? What is recommended for my philtrum to be flat? For my cheeks to not look so flat?
Hello doctors. Currently i am being treated with braces and premolar extractions for bimaxillary protrusion and i have been braces for a year now but i feel my upper jaw still protrudes out and this becomes all the more apparent as i have a long philtrum (17mm) and i feel my lower jaw to be very recessed in comparison Also do i have midface hypoplasia if yes what can be done to correct it i want better chin projetion, sharp jawline and gonial angles and a voluminous mid face pls help Thank you
I'm 29 years old, i notice i seem to lack a labiomental fold below my lower lip, on my chin. My philtrum is also flat, instead of at an angle. Will getting jaw surgery fix both of these things? Update: New photos added. I weigh 215lbs, but am in the process of losing weight.
Hi! I'm a male patient, 24 yo. Distance between my nasal base and mouth bothers me, at the same time I consider my upper lip big enough and I definitely wouldn't want to enlarge it through a lip lift. For information only, I'm currently (after pic) in orthodontic treatment because I have a slight class 3 profile, although my jaw body is short as shown by cephalometry (which also showed a long upper lip). It is possible to shorten this philtrum length at an orthognathic surgery? (or another way)
